  1. A dormant offense and an unreliable bullpen is a bad combination.
  2. I almost choked when Schroeder said early in the game that the Brewers had controlled PCA well in this series. Since then I’ve been waiting for payback.
  3. If you’ve ever gone to a game at AmFam you would know that Brewers fans are just as bad as anyone at getting excited about every ball that’s hit in the air. It’s just a reflection of the fact that a high percentage of people at a baseball game really know very little about the game and how to watch it. This is one running joke that should be allowed to die.
  4. The Brewers offense is now home run or nothing. For a team that doesn’t hit a lot of homers that means a lot of nothing
  5. Brady Singer has followed up his mastery of the Brewers by getting bombed for 4 runs (including the 18th HR he’s allowed) with nobody out in the second inning against the Pirates.
  6. I don’t think Woodruff is that bad. The Cubs are clearly going for an opener or a complete bullpen game, and the way their maligned relievers shut down the Brewers last night it might work for them. We’ll see if Woodruff can keep the Cubs in check while facing a hot Cubs lineup without the advantage of the hitting background that helped him, Sproat, Singer, and Lodolo dominate their opponents last week. What the Brewers really need is for the offense to show up. It shouldn’t be asking too much to hope for a team that is averaging over 5 runs a game to score more than 2 runs more often than once every 3 days. It will be tougher with one of the few hitters who has produced recently Contreras) sitting out
  7. He took a swing and immediately grabbed his hamstring
  8. 2 runs might win some games against teams with weak hitting, but it isn’t going to win many against teams like the Braves and Cubs.
  9. Somebody said that Murphy said that they were going to a 5 man rotation after the Thursday off day. Apparently that was bad information.
  10. Those 3 home runs he has hit have come in handy though.
  11. Then, unless Murphy was lying about the 5 man rotation, we mught be seeing Drohan early tomorrow. If Drohan is scheduled to start Wednesday in a 6 man rotation there’s going to be very little support in the middle innings.
  12. Top of the order looked like they’re packing it in for the night.
  13. More likely 9-2. I really wanted this game because I have very little confidence that Woodruff and his junk are going to be able to control this hot Cubs offense.
  14. It’s frightening going into this long stretch of games with both Patrick and Ashby now unreliable.
  15. “Only” 26 pitches but got the job done. Getting that first win in the series is big.
  16. Hope someone is warming up. McGill is going to be up to 30 pitches soon.
  17. Just throw Turang letter high fastballs and he’s helpless.
  18. Unless they add a couple more runs I hope Murphy doesn’t get cute and try someone other than Megill in the ninth.
  19. Happy to get through that with just 1 run. Playing with fire with walks and the heart of the Cubs order coming up. Up to Megill to bring this home.
  20. It would be hard to argue with playing Frelick in RF with Vaughn’ at DH. I love Yelich for what he has done for the franchise and community but he isn’t helping the team now. Maybe he could use an IL stint for a bad back to see if that can recharge him.
  21. The only way I can stand these Apple Games is to select the Brewers radio broadcast. The Apple announcers treat the game like a sidehow to their conversations.
