    Drohan obviously has earned more starts, It might be helpful to separate his starts from Harrison’s so that one team doesn’t face both of them on back to back days. Though two lefties against the Phillies next weekend would be useful.

    Yelich and Bauers are both getting the day off. Sanchez catching with Contreras at DH, Mitchell in CF and Perkins in RF. The order: Chourio LF Turang 2B Contreras DH Vaughn 1B Sanchez C Mitchell CF, Rengifo 3B Perkins RF Ortiz SS

    I was thinking that too. Give Contreras the whole day off and let Vaughn be DH with Bauers at 1B. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Perkins in the starting lineup today.

    I’ve only been to one game in Coors Field. That was game in 2015 between the Rockies and Reds. The Rockies had a 10 run third inning and won 17 to 7 while hitting five home runs. So, I think all Coors Field games are like that.

    They just acquired reliever Joel Kuhnel from the A’s for cash.

    They will also know when the appeal will be heard and plan accordingly in case the suspension is upheld. With all of the significant injury problems affecting the Brewers pitching staff, Uribe’s possible suspension isn’t even a drop in the ocean.

    In what way? There will be one game where he can’t be used and in the meantime he can be used however he would be used without the suspension.

    PCA is extremely annoying, and a lot of people understandably like to rag on him. But since the incident with the White Sox fan and his disastrous series against the Brewers he has been absolutely smoking hot. Over the last 14 games coming into today he had an OPS over 1.000 and today he is 4 for 5 with 2 HRs, the Cubs only 2 runs so far, including the 2 out HR in the ninth to tie the game.

    That’s a long term outlook, but in the short term having to start guys like Gasser, Crow, and Sproat on a regular basis while the relief corps is also shorthanded could be a problem. The Brewers understandably seem to be trying to give Misiorowski and Harrison 5 or 6 days of rest between starts as much as possible and that was easier when they had at least one off day every week. The schedule between now and the All Star break is going to be more demanding.in terms of the number of games and innings to be covered.

    It is pretty funny to see that some people don’t seem to think that the team will be affected at all by having something like 6 or 7 of the 13 pitchers that were expected to be on the opening day roster on the IL.

    Tlhis is the box they are in. If they try to push Miz and Harrison out every fifth day they are increasing the likelihood that they will be worn down and ineffective later in the season.

    How many guys that we expected to be on the Opening Day pitching roster are currently on the IL. I count Woodruff, Priester, Henderson, Koenig, Zerpa, and Hall

    Crow was exhibit A and Sproat is Exhibit B showing why I have a feeling that the Brewers are headed for a rough couple of weeks.. I don’t want to think about what it will be like if Misiorowski and/or Harrison have bad outings.

    This is the bigger concern for me in the short term. If Henderson, Woodruff, and Koenig can all come back reasonably soon and be effective, that would help a lot. I assume Hall is going on the IL, and hopefully it won’t be a long term stay. But given the nature of the injury and his injury history I’m not expecting a short stint. I also expect nothing from Priester and won’t be surprised if he ends up having surgery with the hope of being ready to go full speed for spring training next year. Maybe Anderson can avoid the ILbut you don’t want to go to Coors Field without a full complement of relievers.

    I would say 3 with an emphasis on “as currently constructed”. But I am also skeptical that the Brewers will make any significant changes to improve the offense. That skepticism extends to getting significant help from current farmhands. The 33 runs scored the last 4 days will bump up the RPG for the season, but I still see the offense that scored just 4.15 RPG in May (just 10th best in the NL). My more immediate question is not whether the offense is good enough to win the WS, but whether it’s good enough to win games if the pitching falls off from its spectacular May.

    Not just trailing by 3, but trailing by 3 with 2 men on base and having to bring in a new pitcher because of an injury. Woodford was already throwing. Bringing in Ashby, Uribe, or Megill would have required them to warm up from a cold start. That’s a recipe for another injury when a pitcher has to alter his normal warmup routine. The Brewers chances of winning that game were pretty low when they fell behind 6-1 in the third inning. Their late rally was a result if the Giants trying to get through without their best pitchers
