  1. Seems like odd chunks of games. Two division games to start and three to end the year. Run of Raiders, Chiefs, Chargers right in the middle. Nice prime time matchups with young QBs with Bears, Eagles, Chiefs. Week 11 bye is as late as I can remember. Seems like we’ve been stuck with early bye weeks forever.
  2. Stearns and Chacin sitting together at Game 2. Not often you see GM and players attending events together.
  3. That’s two up and 1 down. Who else went down, Petricka?
  4. [sarcasm]I’ll have to go back and check the original trade thread, but I think I may have said something along the lines of “the next Barry Bonds” in there somewhere.[/sarcasm] Referring to Ozuna?
  5. Last year Card fans thought they traded for the better Marlins corner OFer. LOL Just thought of this too. They thought they got the better deal, giving up less for an equal player. What was debateable then is a laugher now.
  6. Shaw is the 3B for the immediate and pretty distant future. Why move him for one season, only to mess with him and move him back next year, when you have another guy who is on a one year deal who is arguably roughly the same there defensively? Moose had never played 2B. Shaw already logged a couple months there last year, so not sure it would be messing with him to play both spots this year.
  7. Sure if everything is smooth but if Wilson had struggled that inning, Carpenter came up so we had to use Claudio suddenly we are in that situation. Now that Wilson got through that inning with only 12 pitches and can pitch into the next one it is a lot less likely. It was a completely plausible thought though. The middle starter gets used in these situations by teams when they have these back to back super short starts like this. It isn't some sort of shocking statement. I edited my last post to not sound so snippy... think it would take extras for a starter to come into play. Hader alone could probably go 3 if needed... at least 2.
  8. Think there’s about zero chance of that. I wouldn't say that. Albers is already used, Anderson is probably not available after yesterday. Barnes went 2 yesterday so at best can pitch 1. Guerra pitched 2 of the past 3 days including a 2 IP game, so at best has 1 IP in him. They would probably prefer not to use either of them. So we are really trying to get through 5 innings with Claudio, Hader, Wilson and Petricka. There is a decent chance a starter may have to face someone. Davies and Chacin pitched too recently. Woodruff was already used as a PH. That really just leaves Burnes as the emergency guy here. 5 innings with 4 relievers and one is Hader. Don’t see an emergency... Edit: Didn’t mean to be condescending, just really don’t see Burnes pitching tonight prior to at least the 12th inning. The Brewers have been adamant the young arms are staying in the rotation.
  9. What is with Lopez taking 47 footers early in the shot clock? I’ve seen him hit a couple of those this year, but that’s 3 in a quarter and two were air balls.
  10. This was interesting for about 30 sec. The fact that Maker is starting says enough.
  11. Wouldn’t surprise me to see Shaw and Moustakas in the line up with the lefty being essentially an opener.
  12. I fully agree with the comment that there’s just too low of a possible ceiling. Maybe some decent sized incentives would’ve made it more acceptable to others. I still think if he wanted security, wanted to stay in Atl, this isn’t horrible TO HIM, and his opinion is really all that matters. I really think it’s 50/50 on who comes out as the “winner” in the deal when it’s all said and done.
  13. I think he pitches the 9th, but this pitch count means he’s done for the series. Suppose a crooked number here would be too much to ask for? As I type that pat from CC may mean he’s done.
  14. Totally agree, and feel like this is where most of his criticism comes from. He has glaring, little league level issues with his swing that never improve.
  15. I really don't see how the term "robbed" is appropriate. He got guaranteed money, which to him, may be more important than risking it for a possible bump. This contract pretty much sets him for life, and he can still hit the open market for 1 more big deal if he plays well. Guy like Villar turned down guaranteed money and ended up with far less. Some people like the stability to know it's there and that's his choice. Oddly, compare Arcia's 2017 with Albies 2018... they are not drastically different in a LOT of categories. Regression can happen, injuries can happen. He obviously wanted the security of guaranteed money... good for him. Arcia 17 - hit 277/324/407/731 with 14 SB, 100 K Albies 18- hit 261/305/452/757 with 14 SB, 116 K
  16. Agreed. It also makes injuries that much more of a factor. If someone on say, the Dodgers gets hurt and goes on the IL, he'd miss Both Brewers series with a minor injury. It also means some of the same pitching matchups could occur again - just not a fan. It definitely could have been avoided and hopefully fixed in the future. The LA/STL/LA/STL stretch jumped out at me as brutal. However, to your point, it looks like we will see limited amounts of Buehler and Kershaw because of their arm issues in spring. Might get through that stretch only seeing Buehler 1 time and Kershaw not at all depending on his return date. In this case may seem to benefit us, but that is a brutal start to the schedule. It's nice to get off to such a hot start. Gives us a little more wiggle room to survive the first two months.
