  1. Well...zero plate discipline, but at least he is making contact. I didn’t think any of the pitches were terrible, rather have him protect.
  2. Ouch! 97 mph hbp That’s why they aren’t comfortable in the box.
  3. Big hit here would really open it up and let us keep our key relievers rested.
  4. Look at the bat control by Arcia to aim that one, lol.
  5. If they only protect it for two now, I’m never going to forgive you and your jinxes
  6. Someone said Shaw had swagger today... must have put the fear in the Cubs defenders.
  7. So it was actually a Real Sports episode I was thinking of. I found the trailer on YouTube. The full episode was pretty good. The guy looks like an idiot kneeling but shows the technology pretty well if you can find the full episode.
  8. Was Bote a highly regarded prospect or did this kinda come out of nowhere.
  9. Saw an ESPN special on the computer strike zone. The developers explained how they build a data base for each player based on actual swings. They brought it to a minor league game and were able to set zones for each player just by recording BP before the game. The reporter served as the home plate ump that night with zero experience ever doing it. There’s a light in center field that came on instantly for strikes, the ump watched that then called each pitch. They interviewed fans after and nobody had a clue it was an automated zone. Zero complaints about balls/strikes during the game from players but they knew it was being done.
  10. Most people have Nelson slotting back into the rotation. Given that he has pitched zero innings this year, I would assume that they would have him on some sort of innings limit for next season. I don't see him going from zero to 200 innings pitched. With that how do you put him in the rotation? Pitch him from the start of the season to whenever he hits his limit? Be extremely conservative with innings early in the year to allow him to pitch into the postseason? The innings limit would be the only factor that would make me think that the bullpen is a serious possibility for Jimmy next season. 11. It's a hard play to make when you're going to your right and have to throw cross-body to home. Would've had to stop, plant, and throw home and he knows full well that Broxton's at 3B with a lead. I think that if he goes home it's far from a sure thing, maybe 50/50 at best. But getting up, running to 3rd and having to turn around and throw the other direction vs a fast runner is almost impossible. Pop up and go home you should still be alive another batter In the replays Broxton got a horrible jump. If he goes home he’s out by a mile.
  12. Seemed like that took a big hop, was within reach for Arcia, just went over his glove.
  13. I don’t get the tantrums, if I’m that ump they wouldn’t get anything close called the rest of the inning.
