  1. Holy crap, A LEAD!!! Shaw seems like the wrist is feeling better.
  2. Odd camera angles, but the last shot they showed the throw actually looked pretty wide.
  3. I don’t get it, Villar has been playing well when given opportunities
  4. Who’s pitching? I left the house, ESPN says Jeffress and MLB app shows Suter...
  5. It's 0-0 My god, can we hold of on the negativity until their actually, you know, losing??? Or maybe until the Pirates get a runner past first base??? Ok, now can we be negative? Yes Sir! But only as long as Hader wouldn't be allowed in the game!
  6. Santana won't be up till he figures it out in the minors. Your judging Orf on what, a dozen AB? Nice sample size. His spots not a gift, it was probably more earned in the minors than anyone on the team. Who would you rather have up here right now? You're telling me Santana is not a better option in right than Broxton or Perez? Orf isn't starting either game in a doubleheader. What does that tell you? Yes, I'd rather have Broxton or Perez over Santana right now. We need the Santana from last year. You can't fix major issues in MLB. Look at Arcia when he was called right back up. Still sucked, nothing fixed. Let Santana stay down till he finds the power he had last year. Bringing him back with nothing fixed isn't solving anything.

  8. In the 30 minutes between games Perez went from clean up hitter to 7 hole in game 2. The fact that we need to start him both games of a double header shows exactly where we're at with health. He is a versitile utility guy. He's not a MLB regular. We need our higher upside guys be healthy and producing.

  10. Seems like there's been about 10 unsuccessful double play attempts between the two teams.
  11. Good stuff from Burnes. I'm sure there will be a few bumps a la Williams, but man can those two be huge pieces of the pen down the stretch.
  12. I like Williams to Burnes. Not using the big 3, but using the good young arms to try to keep it close.
  13. Or run into a double play... Yeesh. Give em credit, needed a perfect throw and it was.
  14. I agree with him running, stay out of the double play. Aguilar has had two hangers to hit, watched one and fouled one off...
  15. Nice patient AB by Broxton. Maybe Jesus can run into one!
  16. Yea, pitchers arms fall completely off these days when they go over 100 pitches. Crazy!
  17. Yep, he's been good. Pass on Machado for me. Just not worth what he will cost for a rental. Especially when we may just playing be for a one game WC spot Dozier is the ideal move, IMO. Upgrade 2B. Saladino can handle SS and maybe Arcia figures it out. Not sure there is any answer for the blackhole that is C. Past years Dozier, not what he's done this year. He OPS the same as Villar and gets on base less and has less speed. He would be a power upgrade, that's about it, but Miller can do that. Maybe just play Villar...
  18. Unable to go first to third? That was a rope from Yelich, I don't think Broxton goes first to third on that. He's meat if he tries, the Pirates have very good outfield arms. That's not at all a bad play by Chase.
  19. Odd to see the Pirates shifting so drastically with the bases loaded. A bunt ties the game, just sayin. In so many sports you hear "take what the defense gives you". In baseball you strike out trying to pull a slider on the outer half into a huge shift... Yep, makes sense.
  20. Boy, quick hook on a double header day. Broadcast just comparing Pirates having 7 RP today and the Brewers having 10. Hopefully they need to use quite a few of those 7 in this first game now.
  21. That’s why I think Stearns will do something during the ASB. or, maybe he shouldn't... Guys that under performed in the first half playing better would be a big boost in itself. Arcia, Santana, and Shaw need to find some offense. Santana carried us at times last year and we got nothing from him in the first half. Arcia hit over .270 last year. His replacements have hit a little, but give back as much on D as they create. Pitching Davies and Nelson were 2 of our top 3 starters. Getting something out of Davies would sure help in the second half.
