  1. All Major League Stadiums need to be redesigned to the dimensions of the old Polo Grounds.
  2. Yelich is hitting .364 with an OBP of .529. I'm fully confident that if he stays healthy and finishes the season with those numbers he'll be the MVP.
  3. Non-union international prospects ride buses for meager wages too. An international draft removes their freedom to choose whichever organization offers the most money & replaces it with a forced slotting system, which is why the MLBPA is against it. So is the MLBPA fighting to get rid of the amateur draft too? I would think that if they thought there was any chance of succeeding with that they would be fighting for it, yes. Drafts do not benefit the players.
  4. Like either side really cares about the fans... That small sentence sums it up perfectly. Fans aren't even a secondary thought for either side. When it's all said and done three things will be true. 1. The Owners will make more Money 2. The Players will make more Money 3. The Fans will pay more Money.
  5. Pretty indifferent on it. Thought Spiders or Rockers would have been better options. Rockers is probably too close to Rockies though.
  6. I’m pretty sure that Grandal and Muncy are actively trying to avoid putting the ball in play. It’s kind of an extreme version of 3TO that only a handful of guys with elite pitch selection ability can pull off. Maybe that’s the end stage of the analytics revolution if everyone just tries to draw walks because putting the ball in play is considered undesirable. If you have Grandal’s .132 BABIP it certainly makes way more sense to just foul off every strike that the pitcher throws you. Maybe we’ll see an MLB team win a game with zero hits at some point LOL. Sandy Koufax's perfect game in 1965 almost had that happen. The dodgers scored their run on a walk, a sac bunt and a stolen base with an error. And didn't record their first (and only) hit until the seventh. It's a great box score to look at: https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/LAN/LAN196509090.shtml 1-0, no earned runs, 1 total hit 1:43 minute game.
  7. Seems like he did well against the Padres. A second one doesn't jump out, even if the Pads was right in the first place.. I feel like it has to be a west coast team so I'll take two flyers. Giants and Astros Astros were prolly in the NL for enough of his career to get the ABs.
  8. Be careful what you wish for. I doubt their stream is going to be cheap. Just my gut feeling, but I am thinking cable is better than YTTV + Bally price wise. I'm not really wishing for it. I'd rather they just came to a deal with YTTV/Hulu Live. I just see what they're doing with all of the 'over the internet' cable providers and think anyone that doesn't think they won't do the same thing with other providers is dreaming. Hell, they might even be able to take a huge chunk of mlb.tv's business with it. I'd assume their app would be somewhere in the 15-20$/Mo range, if not more. And I think they'll subsidize that to some extent with gambling in the states that allow it. And hey, in app/live gambling in the states that allow it? I'm not entirely sure it's a 'bad' idea for Sinclair, really, albeit one I'm not a huge fan of. I've just seen a lot of takes of people saying 'Just pay for cable!' that are sort of missing the point of what Sinclair is doing.
  9. This is what's driving me nuts. Just wait till they're all confused as to why their ratings drop 25-30% this year. That, coupled with the fact that I believe I read that as part of the NFL deal, every game will be streamed on someones streaming service is just hilarious. I'm sure prices of CBS all access and Peacock and the like will go up. But MLB will continue to look like an utter dinosaur with the blackout restrictions and seeming lack of interest in getting their product on more televisions. Of course the common opinion seems to be that I'm 'too cheap' to get cable when ATT actually gave me a price of less than what I pay for YTTV. But YTTV is such a better product that I can get far more use out of. I don't care so much about the cost. I have a hard time justifying switching to an inferior product that I'll get less use out of for a nominal savings. Maybe that makes me not a real fan. It doesn't matter. We're 2-3 years away from them dropping Spectrum and ATT anyway and going to the Bally Sports App for all your games. Which I'd probably buy in a heartbeat. I'm not even sure what my point is anymore.
  10. Anyone try this yet? I have an existing MLBTV account that I've already paid for this year and use YTTV. Is there a way to merge them that I just can't figure out? Be nice to have it all in one app otherwise it's not really a big deal I guess. Feel like an idiot for not finding the answer via google.
  11. This is kind of the boat I'm in. I'm not thrilled with having to go from a service I like (YTTV) to one I'm not a huge fan on (AT&T is the only 'cable' provider I can get in my apartment building) to watch the Brewers. Ironically, it would end up saving me money assuming they don't tack on a million charges on the back end. But...I'm pretty convinced at this point that as soon as the contracts Sinclair has with the cable companies are up, they aren't going to renew. So go through the hassle of changing providers for the third time in a year just to watch baseball only for.....the contract with another provider to end? And that we'll be looking at The Sinclair Broadcast app for 14.99/Mo to watch Regional Networks. Which fine, you do you. I feel like I've spent the last year or so running in circles trying to figure out which provider gets me the content I like. And, honestly, if 2020 taught me anything it's that I can live without baseball on TV. I find it ironic that Baseball continues to lament that the younger demographic isn't watching their games, while they continue to not be available on the providers the younger demographic uses.
  12. Is anyone in the best shape of their life yet?
  13. Finally saw it this past weekend. Fully agree with you, Reilly. I really enjoyed the movie. It's a bit of a modern twist and a partial sendup of the classic whodunits. I've seen references to a potential followup/sequel. I'll be curious to see how well that might go. I think the plan is to just make another Benoit Blanc mystery without any of the Thrombeys. Which could be interesting. If they can make them nearly as good as Knives Out I'd be more than willing to see one every year or two.
  14. It is impossible to get away from without taking drastic measures. Doesn't matter what local news you watch, it is constantly the subject. National news media, lol Forget it, constant doom and gloom, blaming, dividing, just looking for reasons to bring us all down. Social media is unbearable and a complete embarrassment. I am currently taking a few days away from it all. No news, no social media, just sitcoms, dvds, and movies if I am engaging in a screen... No wonder we have so much mental illness, and the events of the past few months is only going to increase it. As a society, we have become weak and ineffective with handling our own feelings and thoughts. The wussification of America continues, and there is no end in sight. As someone who attempted suicide eight years ago....this has been a rough couple of months. Going from having outlets, knowing what works for me to keep my mind in order, knowing what keeps me happy to being screamed at that if I go outside I'm going to kill everyone's grandparents. Being told that 'everything is worth it if we save one life!' all while feeling like I was slipping lower and lower than even where I was a decade ago always made it ring false to me. I've empathized with those wellness studies more than most I suspect because, well, that's me. Being able to go out last weekend, sit at a bar, have a beer, whine about the fact that there's no baseball, and have people happy to see me may have very well saved my life. This week, people I've admitted that to have rolled their eyes and called me selfish. Well, I mean I guess. I don't want to be dead, despite what I sometimes tell myself in bad moments. Is it selfish to want to be alive? I never liked the virtual or phone aspect of talking to people. I don't feel like they're paying attention. It's stupid. I'm sure they are. But it doesn't matter because my mind convinces me they aren't. Which ends up making me feel even more insignificant and worthless and I end up ending said sessions feeling worse than when I began. But six weeks of nothing to do but check social media has taken more of a mental toll on me than most anything else I can think of. And I've noticed it's all partisan. It's all yelling and screaming. And it's all outdated with no care. Stopping looking at it has done more for my mental health than almost anything. And I highly suggest going that route. Twitter is filled with people who immediately seem any form of positivity as inherently stupid. Because intelligence can only be rated based on how snide you can be in 140 characters. It's...well it's bad. I don't know what I really wanted to say. But avoiding twitter helped me a lot for a long while. It's all a performance, though. There's a NPR article circulating now about how antibody results indicate the virus is less deadly than thought. Six weeks ago, when papers in CA and MA said the same thing and it was cited by people on the right it instantly became an echo chamber of 'results are inaccurate! No test is reliable!' Now, it's the same just with the aisles flipped. I swear the worst thing to have right now is a memory that lasts more than fifteen minutes. There's no thought, there's no real discussion on those platforms. Everything is instantly 'us vs them' and 'what about X!' I'm not sure what point I wanted to make but I felt like I had to write something. Two weeks ago I wasn't positive I'd make it to see baseball played again. Now, well I'm still not sure I'll ever see baseball played against but not for reasons involving me not being here. Tuning out Social Media helped a great deal. And I was barely on it anyway. Never read the comments.
  15. Season 1 of the Grand Tour isn't very good. Season 2 and 3 greatly improve on it and have some classic episodes. Season one is by far the weakest of the bunch. If you enjoyed old BBC Top Gear, you'll like most of Season 2 and 3 of The Grand Tour.
  16. We moved our seats from the First base side on the home plate side aisle to the third base side middleish of the section and it allieviates it somewhat. There were points at our old seats where you couldn't see the game for periods. And to make matters worse, if it's not the near constant stream of people, it's the vendors. Often stopping in the middle of the aisles as well. It is slightly better, albeit still annoying, if you're not right near the aisle.
  17. When I worked in the Ticket Office years ago there was a $3.50 per ticket fee for phone orders + a I think 4$ fee per order. Special promotions and the like waved the per ticket fee and just had a 5$ per order fee. The fees were the same online or over the phone and the only way to avoid them was to come to the ticket office. Which is open Monday-Sunday regardless of if there's a game or not. I can't remember the exact hours when I was there but I think it was 9-5 M-F and 11-5 Sat and Sun. Keeping in mind this was a decade ago now. It was one of the most annoying things about working there as pretty much every person who bought tickets on the phone complained. Most people who bought them online called to complain. I'd wave it on occasion with the excuse of 'oh sorry must have put in the wrong fee code' to the higher ups if ever called on it (rare). Many times Season Seat Holders would call after the Season Ticket reps went home and get all uppity at you for not waiving the fees because their rep would both waive the fee and charge the season ticket holder price. While I could have gotten away with waiving the fee, I could not access the season ticket holder price for Single Games. So that always made it rather annoying.
  18. Bumping: Taking my dad to DC this August for the series. Planning on Thursday-Sunday going to games on Friday and Saturday. Figured Thursday would mostly just be wandering around the Mall and taking a peek at the monuments. I think the flight gets in around 11 and I didn't really want to plan anything specific right away. Friday wanted to do Air and Space Museum. Is the best bet just showing up early and waiting? Saturday I want to go to Mt. Vernon but could probably be talked out of it. We both like to walk and I'm fascinated by the Revolution although him less so. Any general tips or recommendations? Lunch spots would be great. I'm sure we'll just wind up in a bar after the games.
  19. Because they make the decision. I don't really care about the name change. I just think it's an odd way of going about business. Two years before they needed to they announce a name change to the stadium. Yet from my understanding, the Brewers hand was forced. The leaked memo that got the news was from Millercoors employees. The Brewers response seemed reactionary. It doesn't surprise me that these types of deals are negotiated years in advance and they'll take time to get up and running. I hate to think of the planning and what not that goes into just taking down the gigantic 'Miller Park' on the top of the home plate gate. I would think the Brewers probably didn't want to announce it yet, but would rather do so than go through the whole Fiserv thing with the bucks. What are they going to do? Spend two years saying 'We don't know' about their naming rights after Miller already pulled out? To me it feels more like their hand was forced and they just said 'screw it let's just announce it'. I would highly doubt we'd be learning this today if not for the Millercoors memo. But maybe I have my timeline wrong. That being said, public approval of stadium names is....not a good way to go about anything. And if the name of the building they play in affects anyone's enjoyment of Brewer baseball, then they should probably take a step back and take a deep breath. It's not like the team was 'The Milwaukee Government Bureaucrats' when they played in 'Milwaukee County Stadium' the notion that 'Brewers' is only validated by 'Miller Park' is absurd to me. Right up there with, "Well it just shows the corporation is gouging it's customers to be able to afford it!" Uh-huh. Cuz Beers aren't 10$ inside the ballpark. Or does it not count when the corporation with the snappier name is doing it? Do I think Miller Park sounds better than Amfam Field? Yeah. But I don't think it'll be a 'Sears Tower' type thing given that we're going to hear it constantly on broadcasts and it'll eventually work it's way into the vernacular.
  20. Takes less time than I would have expected. I've just got H'aanit's Chapter Four to go and the post game and have been mostly just wandering aimlessly and enjoying the world. I kinda hoped it would be harder but so far the only times I've died have been when I tried to fight the secret shrine bosses at like level 25 and when I blow myself up with Bewildering Grace.
  21. How about just letting people post what they want to post about? The Overwatch Summer Games event just started. I don't normally care about character skins, but the new batch is pretty dope. Now I know what I saved up all those coins for. Dunno I was kinda underwhelmed. I like Sombra's Mexico skin but rather hit or miss on the rest. Zenyatta's isn't bad. Seeing lots of love for Ana's but I find it pretty meh. Same with D.va.
  22. Fumagalli went in 5th to Denver.
  23. I'd settle for getting back to Princess Bride Quotes.
  24. If you're using it on like a Smart TV or a fire stick or a ps4 or something of that nature, your best bet is probably to use the Fox Sports Go app with your sling login and password. That's what I have to do with PSVue to get Brewer games. Was annoying at first but ended up liking it more in the long run.
