  1. I'm not going to raise my hand but I can see why CC did this with Braun, Cain and Moose banged up.
  2. My friend was listening to MLB on Sirius Radio yesterday (she is not a Brewer fan but a Yankee fan) and she thought the way the announcers were just dismissing the Brewers altogether and giving the win automatically to the Nats was ridiculous and she turned it off. I told her the national media does that to the Crew all the time - except when they sang Yelich's praises. Now with no Yeli we are just an afterthought and they believe we really don't belong on the same diamond as the Nats and the rest of the teams in the playoffs.
  3. Yes, but will he be able to play tonight? They certainly wouldn't put him on the wildcard roster if they didn't think there was a strong chance he could play. They can submit a new roster for NLDS if they win today. If they win tonight can the roster be changed for the NLDS? I was assuming the announced roster is for the entire post season...?
  4. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Pirates have fired manager Clint Hurdle. There was a report on Wednesday that the Pirates were going to retain Hurdle for the 2020 season, but it was never confirmed by the club and has now proven to be false. Hurdle, who won't manage Sunday's regular-season finale against the Reds, finishes with a 735-720 record in his nine years as skipper in Pittsburgh. The team is 69-92 with one game left to play in 2019. Source: Ken Rosenthal on Twitter Sep 29, 2019, 1:53 PM ET I wonder how long Hurdle will be unemployed...
  5. Our sling box stopped working so we didn't see the last several innings. How many starters were in the game after the 6th?
  6. Neither, his contract expired. Did the team decline to offer him a contract renewal?
  7. Considering the playoff history of these two teams, I doubt the Braves even win the series. I don't know how previous playoff performsnces can dictate future series.
  8. Looks like Maddon is done in Chicago after today! Did he quit or was he canned?
  9. Cards up by 4 now. I hope the Braves sweep them in the divisional round.
  10. No, we would have been TIED for the division lead with one more game to go.
  11. Anybody here who said Maddon isn't trying to win those games in St. Louis was mistaken. Unfortunately we haven't taken advantage of it.
  12. And sometimes a pitcher CC calls upon who has been lights out has a bad night. It happens. These players are not robots. Even the best of the best have outings that stink. My main beef - if you can call it that - is sometimes CC doesn't have someone else up just in case his first option struggles.
  13. Yeah, pretty much this. They need a healthy Knebel back next year and maybe even one strong FA option. I still think Edwin Diaz would be a good trade low option in the offseason. I just don't see a lot internally to suggest the pen doesn't need a big overhaul next year. Albers will be gone, and even Junior Guerra who had been fairly good I'd prefer to move on from. I'd keep Hader and Claudio and Knebel for next year and as far as I'm concerned everything else is TBD. I wouldn't mind keeping Pomeranz either. If we had these 4 plus a better rotation 2020 could be even more fun than 2019.
  14. We only have to win once. If this was a best of five or seven I'd be worried. Scherzer hasn't been all that great this month anyway. It's definitely doable. Plus we'll have one of our 2 best on the mound for that game too.
  15. You can play your lesser players and still play to win the game. The Cubs have been doing it the last 2 games. You speak the truth here. Plus Chicago in on the road, just like we are.
