  1. How many seasons has Arcia been our starting SS? I think what you see with him is his ceiling. He is a pretty good fielder but not a good enough hitter for my liking. Too inconsistent and strikes out too much IMO. I wouldn't be opposed to an upgrade there.
  2. https://www.mlb.com/forms/2019-hank-aaron-award
  3. Last offseason Moose tested FA but he ended up back in Milwaukee. Did he not get other offers or were the other offers not that much better? I can't recall...
  4. Most relievers, yes even the good ones, have just two pitches. Unfortunately for us in that WC game he couldn't control either one. That happens.
  5. Me too. These 2 along with Hader next year and our pen could be something special.
  6. Plus the fact we kept him around for the playoffs. Shaw saw other players that were not performing either get shipped out like Aguilar or released like Chacin.
  7. I'm gonna guess he was a lot more beat up this year than anyone was letting on.
  8. Agreed. Looking back losing Knebel might have been a bigger loss than losing Yeli in September.
  9. The only move that wasn't great was not having a plan B in the 8th in case Hader didn't have it.
  10. Evidently Lyles was warming up last night but not until things got too dicey so by the time he was ready the damage was already done. Perhaps next year with Knebel back we won't have to lean on Hader so much. I wonder if Josh was feeling the pressure. Yes, you need your closer to work under pressure but these players are human too. When Hader is on he is wonderful. But when he doesn't have his slider he is absolutely hittable. No reliever will survive with only a FB.
  11. Grandal pretty much earned the max he possibly can this year, he was fantastic. And I’m guessing he has priced himself out for the Brewers. That said, the days of a 4-year deal for a 30-year old catcher may be gone. The Brewers should be able to offer a competitive 2-year deal, or maaaaybe a 3 year if they want to pair him with Yeli for the extent of his contract. And IMO you offer him a little extra even if that means no Moose Perhaps he won't get a huge deal because he is now 30. And he seems to like it in Milwaukee. Ya never know. But I don't want to lose Moose either. Do we have anyone else to take his place? I don't want Perez starting and lord knows if Shaw will ever get it back. I really want Lyles and Pomeranz back. They were great.
  12. Situational hitting has been a big problem for this team for a while now. Or inability to get a hit with RISP or just putting the ball in play with less than 2 outs and a runner at 3rd has killed us this year and is why we lost the division IMO. We strike out too much and not make pitchers work.
  13. Naw, I have a feeling it was the emotion of losing the way we did. TBH I was more unhappy that CC didn't have a plan B in case Hader struggled. By the time Lyles got up to throw it was too late.
  14. Sorry but this is a pet peeve of mine. The player has to actually have the talent to belong in the league. Players are pawns. The manager/coach needs to do 1 thing. Put his players in position to succeed. If a guys missing every 3 but the play keeps dictating that he shoots it because he's open or if the pitcher can't throw a strike, or if the RT can't block his man and you keep letting him get run over solo. Do you just leave them in that and go well, "I don't throw the ball or shoot or block." No, you alter. You make decisions. IT'S ALL YOU DO! CC decided to let a guy who was off continue. Hader isn't going to pull himself. Yes Hader sucked tonight. Why was he still in when he couldn't execute? When Hader is on you see 2 electric innings that set down 6 guys in effortless fashion. When he's struggling with FB control and has no SL you'd have to be a moron to hang your season on that. I don't care who the pitcher is. If Woodruff walked the first 3 guys, do you just let him get blasted for 10 run and blame him? The coach/manger has a job to do as well. Part of that is saving players from themselves when they aren't on. We need a like or agree button for posts like this. Ray Charles could see Hader didn't have it tonight. This was do or die. All hands on deck. As soon as it was obvious Hader was wild and had no slider you get a freakin' starter up to try and save the season instead of watching your All Star closer struggle and blow the game ending the season like that.
  15. When you strike out half your batters and give up 15 home runs in 75 innings you're the definition of feast or famine. He is Russell Branyan as a pitcher. Seemed like his success from outing to outing was contingent upon whether he could successfully throw his slider. Did he throw one in the 8th? How many of you felt your heart drop when his very first pitch was so wild. I’m not ready to say he’s Turnbow 2, but Hader is on notice next season. The wildness, the feast or famine outings, the proclivity to cough up homers ... it’s troubling. So perhaps he shouldn't be the sole closer in 2020. We should all hope Knebel returns to form next season. Having both the them will be so much better than what we had this year.
  16. And this isn't the first time that has happened this year. How many times have we been unable to tack on runs after early success?
  17. You've angered the sports gods and need to make amends. I blame Braun for the roids lie and Rodgers for not calling his parents. It’s been downhill pretty much ever since, and it’s cost the good people of Wisconsin two Super Bowls, a World Series, and Christian Yelich’s knee. The sin must be purged. [half blue] When do the Bucks start?
  18. IMO you have hit on the $1M question. What is this team's fascination with Arcia? The kid can't hit is way out of a paper bag. He can field but if you can't hit you are of no use to the ball club.
  19. Cain wasn't 100% for a while now. I hope we can keep Moose and Grandal in 2020. We need that veteran leadership IMO.
  20. I completely understand, and feel the same way, but my most harsh feelings are reserved for Hader, Counsell, and the decision making that went into letting Hader continue to pitch even after getting into a deep jam. He should have been pulled after the HBP and the several pitches that were clearly way outside of his target. Grandal (ironically) saved Hader’s bacon a couple of times. Why did they even go to Hader in the 8th? Pom was comfortable and doing his thing. That was a CYA move by Counsell, and boy did it backfire. Just a bad decision, period. Thankfully this is just baseball. I’m extremely disappointed, but next season is around the corner. Let’s go get some pitching, pretty please! Unfortunately I don't think anybody else was up throwing in the pen.
  21. Look, relievers are volatile. It is tough to expect consistent excellence one year to the next. And it’s not totally outside the realm of possibility that he will have a major slide next year. But if you look at a pitcher that performed like a Hader did this year and all you see is trash, and you’re going on record saying he’s going to be 5+ era guy—borderline un-rosterable, then I don’t know what to tell you. You are letting your emotions cloud your judgment. He has a home run problem, no one will argue that, but this is a league-wide issue. You have to consider this in that context. The ball is juiced and guys are looking for bombs every at bat. Tonight, though, wasn’t even about the home run ball. His location issues could easily be attributed to a long season where injuries forced him to be used in a role for which he isn’t properly suited. If CC had any more reliable relievers to take the late innings consistently, he would have spared Hader this fate but they had nothing. You could tell they so desperately wanted Peralta to be that guy, but it wasn’t to be. Hader is not trash, he’s gassed. He was throwing only 96 tonight. He needed more help, and it never materialized. When it is win or go home CC should have had Lyles up as soon as it was obvious Hader didn't have a slider and his FB was all over the place.
