  1. I too would rather we have consistent winning teams. The more opportunities you have your odds are better to win it all eventually. And it is a hell of lot more fun to follow a team in contention every year than watching your favorite team have fire sales and stink most of the time like the Marlins and others.
  2. I think this front office is trying for as many bites at the postseason apple as possible. The large majority of their decisions, the Yelich deal aside, are geared toward protecting the long-term sustainability of maintaining an above average roster. It’s probably the right strategy, and teams like the Giants have proven you don’t have to be the best team in order to win the World Series, but I’m getting to the point where I wouldn’t hate seeing them mortgage a little bit of the future in order to put together better rosters for 2022 and 2023. I don't have an issue with the Yelich deal. When it was made he was a hitting machine and most likely a perennial MVP candidate and the type of player that most teams will build a team around. Who could have foreseen his decline the past 2 seasons? Hindsight is always 20/20.
  3. Are they really doing that? I hope not. It's time to let 1982 go. Not saying the team has to do a celebration. But even if the Brewers win multiple World Series in the coming years, I'll never let 1982 go (or the 2-3 years leading up to that year). That was a great time in my life that I will always remember. That was also a really fun team! I remember that team fondly as well. However, there are a lot of Brewers fans out there that weren't even born yet during that special time so to them it is ancient history.
  4. He really screwed up but IMO the real culprit that contributed to our early exit was our inability to hit. If you can't score it is hard to win, especially in the post season. We scored 2 runs in 3 of those games against Atlanta.
  5. Don't forget about the Bucks.
  6. Losing Williams to stupidity hurt us big time. Not having Suter for the Braves series didn't help either.
  7. I kind of get what you were saying, but I wasn't expecting Yelich and especially not Hiura, to carry the team this year. Hoping sure, but that's all. Maybe not carry the team but I think we all would have liked them to be at least productive. You can't have 2 players like this hit like a pitcher does. :-/
  8. Luke Voigt? No thanks. My friends who are Yankee fans were hoping NY would have traded him away before the deadline.
  9. Then we gotta pray we can get Yelich back to being a decent hitter again. We don't need him to be the MVP but we need him to be better than a pitcher holding a bat too.
  10. And finding good pitching is the hard part. Finding bats is (relatively) easier. We saw this coming from before the season. They built the team on run prevention, not run scoring. Plus nobody could foresee both Huira and Yelich imploding like they did.
  11. They scored 6 runs across four games. That has nothing to do with the manager, and is the main reason they lost. If anything Counsell got desperate and abandoned “pitching in defense” in Game 4 when he pinch hit Vogelbach for Peralta. The Brewers offense gave the pitchers no margin for error in two of the games, and tonight the Braves capitalized on their chances when they got them and the Brewers hitters didn’t; plain and simple. It has nothing to do with the manager. Yes, you can't blame CC when the guys don't hit but he didn't manage the bullpen very well IMO.
  12. I agree with this. I was so pumped when they clinched the postseason weeks ago, but then when they had the chance over the cardinals to end them, and just faltered it all seemed off to me. I kept coming here to read, as a casual fan, that it didn’t matter, but it sure didn’t seem like a great way to enter the postseason. I don't want to break my arm patting myself on the back but a couple of times in the past few weeks I expressed this concern about playing poorly going into the playoffs and some here chided me saying the guys would turn it on once the playoffs started. I'm not happy that I was right to be concerned, believe me.
  13. Again, it is the most successful season in the Milwaukee Brewers history, you just need to understand that much... It still ended in a loss, but it is the high water mark because it is the only time we ever got the the World series. I get it though, it gets old hanging our hat on a loss, but until we have a better outcome, it is the furthest we have ever made it in a single season. I'll say this ..... I was around, and old enough to be deeply invested in baseball in 82, and I'm TIRED of hearing about 82. I enjoyed the crap out of 08, 11, and 18. To a lesser extent these last few playoff seasons. They also ended in losses, but there were big moments in those seasons that really gave enjoyment and enthusiasm to a new generation of brewer fans. I can still watch that base hit by Tony Plush that brought Gomez home to win game 5 of the NLDS in '11 and be like "wow, what a moment!!". I wish it was a WS win, but it's still a big defining moment for this generation. 82 was awesome, but just .... man, I'm kinda over it. Thank you for putting my sentiments here better than I did.
  14. If you are correct (and I suspect you are) about what is going on with Yelich then this is yet another lousy decision by CC sending him out there and batting 3rd.
  15. Don't take this wrong but please - we have to stop talking about 1982. This is as bad as Packers fans waxing poetic about the Lombardi all those years before 1989 (and GB actually won). That was a great team but it is ancient history now. It's only ancient history if you were not able to experience it. I understand, all those that were not born yet in 82 would never understand the sheer joy of that season, which ended in the most heartbreak I have ever experienced in my years of fandom. Again, I get why people tire of hearing about it, but sadly, it's the most success this team has ever experienced, so there you have it... I was around in 1982.

That was a great team but it is ancient history now. Then win a damn World Series instead of glowing about what a special team this is in August. If winning the WS is the gold standard then don't bring up 1982.
  17. The only break we got in that game tonight that I can recall was that "catch" by Urias in foul territory.
