  1. 6 out save by Goforth. Stars win 2-1 on a wild pitch. About the only way they can win these days.
  2. 1. Orlando Arcia (SS>CF) 2. Tyrone Taylor 3. Clint Coulter 4. Tyler Wagner (has to be rewarded for incredible season) 5. Taylor Williams 6. Taylor Jungmann 7. Monte Harrsion 8. Kodi Medeiros 9. Devin Williams 10. Tyler Cravy 11. Jed Bradley 12. Gilbert Lara 13. Jorge Lopez 14. Chris McFarland 15. David Denson 16. Jake Gatewood 17. Wei-Chung Wang 18. Hunter Morris 19. Jason Rogers 20. Michael Reed 21. Yadiel Rivera 22. Nicolas Pierre 23. Angel Ortega 24. Francisco Castillo 25. Nathan Orf (I'm the only one who will vote for him but leading the FSL in BA and OBP?)
  3. Baby Brewers win 9-1. 4 pitchers combined to give up 1 unearned run. Wang went 1 1/3 innings. Surprisingly, this team is now only 1 game below .500. With all those blow outs, it seems like they are way worse than that. Jake Gatewood was 2-5 with 3 RBI's. Hopefully, this will get him going. Juan Ortiz homered in a 6 run ninth.
  4. Rattlers go to extra innings 1-1 but now in a rain delay.
  5. Tyler Wagner 80 pitches through 4 innings is really struggling in this game, mostly with command. Tyrone Taylor has his 35th double and Roache has homered. Wagner went 5, left with a 3-2 lead and is in line for the win. He did manage to wall off Fortunato, who was 0-2. (Poe reference).
  6. Minor hitting for Taylor Brennan: .231/.372/.421 Sal Bando minor leagues: .279/.353/.413 Bando was a pretty valuable player.
  7. PGA says it's not a suspension but voluntary. This may help explain why he's really underperformed though.
  8. Manatees in a rain delay if you were planning to listen.
  9. 1 of Zarraga or Garfield. I'm sure they always need catchers.
  10. Denson injured again? Brennan started at first, had to come out and Halcomb was put in at first. (Brennan was ejected). Never mind, DD still under suspension.
  11. Kirk Gibson mentality strikes again: http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/11270959/ten-minor-leaguers-ejected-brawl-los-angeles-dodgers-arizona-diamondbacks-affiliates
  12. The Max Walla experiment went a bit off the tracks today.
  13. Clint Coulter pinch hit for McFarland in the 9th. I'm guessing Chris is OK and they just wanted to get Clint an at bat. Immediately buzzed by the pitcher. Clint leads the Midwest league in HBP (16). Maybe he will become the Brewers' Don Baylor? Victor Diaz probably threw more pitches in the 8th than Banda did the previous 7. Hopefully, he can hold on. Diaz holds on and the Rattlers win.
  14. Age 21 season: Player 1: .305/.354/.450/.804 Player 2: .300/.334/.406/.740 Who are the players? Chris McFarland, Scooter Gennett albeit Scooter's was at Brevard County. Chris now has 24 steals in 30 attempts so he adds speed also. Banda went 7 gave up 3 hits. Only 79 pitches.
  15. You got me today, Mass. I wasn't expecting a game this early. Already 7-0 when I tuned in and only 2 complete. MiLB is behind the audio for once so I can't figure out what happened. Darn. Okay, a bunch of singles, a bunch of walks and a bunch of Lake County errors led to a 7 run second for the Rattlers (all runs scored with 2 outs). Banda is cruising through 3.
  16. Theo Epstein weighs in and he's not happy: http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/07/23/theo-epstein-on-cardinals-competitive-balance-pick-last-organization-that-needs-an-annual-gift/ This is obviously a flaw in the rule. Teams with high revenues should not be included regardless of technical metro area size.
  17. Arcia is out today and wearing a brace on his knee. I don't remember hearing about this. He is supposed to be close to 100 percent and did some drills before the game. He should not need the brace the rest of the year. Manatees off to a slow start with high temps and humidity (who'd have thunk it in Florida in July during the day?).
  18. Reminder of how Brevard County is death to some hitters: Yadiel Rivera now hitting .291/.317/.392 at Huntsville. Yes, the OPS of .709 would be the best of his career but he did OPS .692 at Wisconsin in 2012 so it isn't that far out of line. At 22, he is 2 1/2 years younger than the average Southern league player. I'm pretty confident that Cam Garfield will also greatly improve his line when he moves up. These are 2 of my favorite players who get less attention.
  19. I think Heisey whiffed on that Gomez hit and the ball bounced over the wall for the ground rule double. I think NY blew that bunt call which looked like it hit the bat first before contacting his hand. The Reds' announcers claimed he was trying to "get out of the way of the ball" which, I guess, NY bought while not noticing the ball hit the bat first.
  20. Also when looking at the Rookie level teams where the Brewers do not have many high level college guys. Many of us wanted this change and having struggling teams at this level may be one of the prices to pay. Hopefully it pays off in a few years.
  21. Rattlers win on a walk off single by Jose Pena after a walk, sacrifice and wild pitch put Neda on 3rd. One of Harvey Martin's better outings. Yes, Tyler Alexander gave up a 3 run homer and plunked the next hitter. The batter took a couple of steps towards the mound and both he and Alexander were thrown out. Apparently, Denson and the Catcher for the Reds got into it as well because they were also thrown out. No injuries and really not much of a donnybrook either.
  22. Rattlers have made a real mess of this game but it was a brilliant performance by Taylor Williams. Wild game. Tyler Alexander and David Denson have been tossed as well as at least one of the Dragons.
  23. Clint Coulter was apparently hit in the face yesterday, not the helmet. He is sporting a black eye today and will sit today's game out. Not known when he will be back. Hopefully soon. He did talk to Chris and seemed to be okay. Welcome back David Denson. Tape measure shot. Est: 456 feet.
  24. I wonder how much he's still bothered by that hand injury. Here's Dustin Pedroia who has a similar hand problem the last two years: .301/.372/.415 to .277/.344/.376. Braun 2012: .319/.391/.595 to 2013: .298/.372/.498 2014: .298/.348/.523 So they both have had similar declines.
  25. As noted by Mass in his link report, Bradley has been very good against lefties. He needs to come up with a way to get right handers out and he should really take off.
