  1. They already traded one of these bonus slots along with Marmol for Guerrier.
  2. Benches clear in the Stars' game as Kentrail Davis gets hit. I guess the Sox don't like getting pummeled. Mike Walker with a HR and 2 walks in one (different) inning.
  3. The Midwest League may have to institute a mercy rule the way the T-Rats are going. Baserunner hit by a batted ball is their best defense right now.
  4. David Denson is now listed on the roster at the official MiLB site. Edgardo Rivera not playing? I thought he had a decent debut last year with Maryvale. Wonder what that's about.
  5. http://www.insidesocal.com/tribpreps/2013/06/01/san-gabriel-valley-all-star-baseball-game-monday-at-mt-sac-practice-tonight-rosters-posted/ Maybe they signed Denson as a pitcher? (sarc)
  6. Hopefully, this is another reason they went with signability in some of their draft picks. A couple of top signs here could make the difference.
  7. Well according to Tristan Archers college coach, he's equivalent to Jared Weaver.
  8. Brewers AA-- They have to pick guys who will sign for less in order to have the funds to sign the top two picks. Cooper is another LH 1B from Auburn like Hunter Morris. Hopefully, he will turn out as well. Hit .354 with 7 HR's this year. scratch that--RH hitter. Will have to platoon with Hunter.
  9. Just for fun, Rogers' splits the last two years: 2012 RHP .304/.400/.442 LHP .295/.416/.466 2013 RHP .278/.295/.437 LHP .262/.328/.639 Obviously, his on base pct is way down this year. Slugging against lefties is way up. His overall numbers need to improve.
  10. So, Jose Morinho is not going to Sampdoria? Anyone can win with Chelsea's money.
  11. Maybe you can diagnose Thornburg too? 0-6 with a 6.99 ERA. 60 hits against in only 46 innings. I guess there could be a hangover from failing to make the big club. Scouts have always suggested he would be a bullpen guy. He will be 25 in September. Starting to get worried.
  12. I don't necessarily disagree with you 'Stache. I'm just saying, it could be worse. There's no guarantee DM's hypothetical replacement would be better.
  13. ...and you're gonna need it.
  14. Just for comparison and I know it's not altogether fair. Marvin Milkes .398 Frank Lane .423 Jim Wilson .463 Jim Baumer .414 Harry Dalton .520 Sal Bando .476 Dean Taylor .405 Doug Melvin .494 The only more successful GM than DM also built the team on hitting with lesser pitching. You should compare the GMs to other Brewer GMs who may not have had the resources of say the Cardinals GM.
  15. Alex, the Stars' announcer, suggested that he had his best curveball of the year on this day. I remember him saying that he was around 91-92 in the 5th, I think, inning. If he is switching more to a 2 seam, it is harder to throw for strikes because of the extra movement. May take some time to get used to that.
  16. Encouraging outing by Taylor Jungmann tonight. Even the K's were up. I'll leave the details for the link reporters.
  17. I don't think so Patrick. I saw a review in the NY Times. He's actually an Iowan.
  18. Didn't want to start a new thread. There is a new book out by Lucas Mann, Class A: Baseball in the Middle of Everywhere. This is about the Clinton Lumber Kings. If anyone has read this, can you give a review? Thanks.
  19. I listened to the Stars first game and Alex mentioned that the umpire had a small strike zone (for both pitchers). Alex seemed like he was getting frustrated at times. Probably Nelson will always have the umpire problem. With his extreme sinker, batters are always going to tell themselves make him get the pitch up. Pitching coaches will tell Jimmie to keep it down. It will sometimes depend on what the umpire is calling a strike. Pena, now that he is having a good streak, tends to get more fly outs than ground outs which he did tonight. Not sure that would be a good thing in Miller Park but certainly good to seem him throwing better.
  20. Dollar- His best OBP was in '07 and best slugging in '09. He hasn't come close to those since. It seems there is a pattern of decline. I would be very surprised if he doesn't have a hot streak sometime this year but the general pattern of decline seems to be set.
  21. I will go with Jason Rogers, a low draft pick who generally has high OBP. Maybe a platoon candidate at 1B eventually.
  22. Enough with the race baiting. If you can't make the case for Rickie on logic, maybe you should reconsider your argument. My personal opinion is that Rickie is now 30 and on the decline as a player. It happens. He still may have great stretches of play for a few years. If the Brewers are looking out of it at the All Star break they should entertain offers. I could definitely see a team in marginal contention thinking he may be a difference maker for one or two months. Depends on what the return would be.
  23. Brewers get swept at home, Nashville about to go 7-21 with many more advanced prospects. Rogers and now Jungmann probably injured. Hopefully, something good happens today. Yikes.
  24. Weeks is in decline at age 30. His best OBP was .374 back in 2007. Last year was .328 and he's barely above .300 now. Gennett won't have to walk much to match that. There is a big power difference. I say the Brewers should think about moving Rickie if they haven't improved by the All Star Break. Some team will think he can be difference in their pennant run.
