  1. Those who follow the Orioles know how Jim Palmer always talks in awe of Robin. Of course, he hit two home runs off Palmer in the critical game in 1982. I'm sure it's easier than if it had been Jim Gantner or somebody like that. Sometimes you just have to tip your hat to a great player.
  2. Edgardo Rivera is another flyer who is still very young. He had a bad year last year but possibly due to injury. I thought he looked promising in '12. Yadiel Rivera could be a solution when Aramis Ramirez leaves. If Segura is moved to 3rd, that could give the Brewers a very strong left side of their infield which could help with a lot of ground ball pitchers coming up from Hellweg to Nelson to Jungmann.
  3. 20" in the WV Blue Ridge. Hope I get out by tomorrow.
  4. Meanwhile, it's supposed to hit 70 degrees out here in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia on Sunday.
  5. Maybe they should throw some fans in there? How about some of our mods? I demand that Mass Haas should go in.
  6. Hopefully, McCann will be suspended retroactively.
  7. There was a time when people said Molitor was hurt too much also.
  8. Joins Nolasco with the Twins. I know some of you were looking at Hughes for the Brewers. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/10061955/minnesota-twins-agree-deal-phil-hughes
  9. I was listening on Charlie Sykes show and I think he got one thing wrong. Sykes claims Braun said that his wedding is more stressful than the steroid issue but I think he's got the wrong take on this. The question asked about his relationship with his fiancee and friends over the steroid issue and that's when Ryan said the wedding was more stressful. Slightly different context there. Nobody would think a wedding is more stressful. From the callers, it doesn't seem as if the press conference was "successful". Most are still wanted him traded, etc. Nothing he says will make a difference.
  10. Presumably, Carpenter is demanding to be traded as of this moment! Not clear who the clean team is though.
  11. Ike Davis? No. Doesn't look any better than Hunter Morris in his Minor league days. Weeks type player in the majors. Pass.
  12. http://www.businessinsider.com/every-baseball-expert-was-completely-wrong-when-they-made-their-world-series-prediction-2013-10 0 out of 76 "experts" picked the Red Sox to win the World Series this year. Maybe there's hope for the Brewers next year?
  13. Gamel's OPS in 2009, as mentioned the only significant number of plate appearances for him in the Majors, was .760. Hart's was .753 that year. Career minors: Gamel .873, Hart .856. I think many people are not giving Mat his due. He would be very likely to have a good season if he ever gets enough at bats. That said, we don't know the state of his health, the Brewers presumably do. If he has significant at bats with the Cubs next year, I, for one, will be upset.
  14. Seems they preferred de La Torre and Ravin. What we don't know and the Brewers do is the state of Gamel and Green's health. I believe Gamel has been working out in Arizona and maybe the Brewers know something.
  15. He was over .800 OPS the last two years at Nashville. While I wouldn't expect him to do that in the NL, he might do it as part of a platoon. Looks like his splits are pretty even for most of his career though.
  16. Big win for Sampdoria over Roma was partly ruined by the manager Delio Rossi flipping Burdissa the bird late in a 3-1 win. AC fans pulling out bananas to show Balotelli? It seems to be a rough start in Serie A this year.
  17. Absolutely shocked that he didn't bring Wes Helms out of retirement for this season.
  18. Thank you Mass and link reporters from those of us who usually lurk on these pages. Much appreciated.
  19. Jose Pena homers his first two at bats today.
  20. There is no reason Davis can't play RF. If we can live through the Yount CF years with the arm he didn't have, we can live through some years with Khris in RF. Just make sure Gennett gets farther into the outfield when a ball is hit that way and let him have the long throws. It's not ideal but you're not going to have an ideal player at every position.
  21. Thanks Mass. Should have known you'd have it covered already.
  22. Anyone have a read on Tyler Cravy? His 2.24 ERA and 1.054 WHIP look good this year but is that an artifact of Brevard County? His 1.91 K/BB is the lowest of his career and his strikeouts, in general, are way down from previous numbers. Thanks to anyone who could comment.
  23. Yadiel Rivera. He is having the best offensive year of his career. He may exceed the elusive .300 OBP this year. He has an elite glove. Despite an error streak early in the year, it was mentioned on one of their broadcasts that he was far and away the top defensive SS in the FSL based on range metrics.
  24. Yep. Great job MT. Really appreciated.
  25. He swang at it deliberately knowing it would get by the catcher and he'd be on 1st.
