  1. My guess is Blazek.
  2. My guess is $3M in 2015, $6M in 2016 with a $4M buyout on his team option for 2017.
  3. Great point. I didn't consider how adding another reliever would remove Thornburg from the bullpen and get him on the mound every five days in AAA. If this is the case, who would you bring up first if their is an injury to a starter, Jungmann or Thornburg?
  4. Why? Because our closer is making the same amount as out LOOGY? Even if he falters and Broxton or Henderson takes over closing responsibilities he is still an above average reliever on a cheap contract.
  5. My guess is Henderson, if healthy, would pitch the 7th with Smith being used to match up againsts lefties in high leverage situations. However it works out, this is a huge addition to the bullpen.
  6. Based on this, I'm really liking this deal. DM strikes late again with another below market signing. Bullpen just got better and much deeper. K-Rod Broxton Smith Henderson Jeffress Cotts Thornburg Perez Kitnzler Knebel Wooten Strong Hellweg Goforth Any of the above list have the potential to be in the bullpen this coming season.
  7. Sounds like it also includes a club option.
  8. My guess is he signed with the old "mystery team" which seems to stockpile players this time of year.
  9. MCW looked good in his limited minutes last night. It appeared Gainnis struggled offensively because he was trying to hard to create his own shot insteadn of allowing MCW freate opportunities for him like he did for Middleton. I thought the team looked a lot better when MCW was on the floor and his length caused issues for the other teams when he's defending.
  10. Marbury also comes to mind. I remember he used to attend Knicks games as a fan while making more than any player on the floor. What a joke!
  11. I would be fine with this deal. K-Rod has never lacked confidence so this might be enough of an incentive to sign for a lower base salary if he can potentially make $10M next season based on games finished. For all of his personal issues and erratic pitching, he would make our bullpen better going into the season.
  12. It's refreshing to see a front office stick to their word when things don't go as they originally planned. I don't think anyone thought this team would have won 30 games all season let alone by the all-star break. It would have been easy to justify trading away future assets for a stud player who may or may not be the difference in winning a first round series or bowing out early. Kudos to them for staying the course and realizing this is just the beginning versus their best and only chance.
  13. This is a great analysis on the trade and how it impacts the Bucks currently and going forward. http://www.brewhoop.com/2015/2/20/8072857/trade-deadline-bucks-michael-carter-williams-trade-brandon-knight-jason-kidd
  14. This was Herb Kohl's mentality and we all know where it got us. In the last 20 seasons prior to this year, the Bucks have had 6 winning seasons, one other season where they finished 41-41, and have a 2-8 playoff series record (both wins came in 2000-2001). Odds are we will still make the playoffs this seasons which will give the young players some much need experience while still adding assets needed for a deeper run in the coming years. This trade doesn't mortage thier future for the present like the Gary Payton trade did. It keeps them competitive this season while making them better going forward.
  15. No sense in getting upset already. MCW hasn't even made it on the court yet. I will hold judgement until he has played 8-10 games in a Bucks uniform. Ennis is a young, smart and talented PG who has been inactive most of his rookie season because the Suns felt the need to stockpile PGs on their roster. He will get better the more experience he gets. Plumlee had a solid rookie season but has regressed some this season, possibly due to a reduction in playing time. The owners have stated their three year plan is to compete for a championship not just to make the playoffs and win a series now and then. Nobody would have complained about this trade if the Bucks were struggling like everyone expected them to this season. The likely reason for this sudden success is Jason Kidd. So if he likes MCW then so do I.
  16. I would be ok with this deal.
  17. First and foremost, I'm a fan of Jason Kidd as a coach. So far he has brought in Bayless and Dudley, who most people including myself were less than thrilled with, but have thrived in his system and developed Knight into a all-star caliber PG who netted us three young high ceiling players. I truly beleive he is looking for specific traits and/or skills in players to fit into his system. That said if he thinks MCW is his guy, then I'll support the move. The main needs this offseason will be to extend Middleton and acquire a big man to replace Sanders. As I've stated before, I really hope they make a serious run at Greg Monroe who will likely cost $15M per to sign but gives them a solid core to build around: Carter-Williams, Middleton, Gainnis, Parker, Monroe, Henson, Plumlee, Ennis, Inglis and O'Bryant.
  18. I highly doubt this is the reason. No owner wants to inflate the cost of free agents. This is especially detrimental to small market teams. My guess is that Boras is contacting everyone in his little black book in a desperate attempt to find K-Rod a closing gig.
  19. I agree with fondy that Boras seems to be getting desperate. If they can hold out a little longer, K-Rod's asking price will likely come down quite a bit (1yr/$6M or 2yrs/$10M), making it a more reasonable signing. Otherwise just let someone else overpay for his services and instead sign Mike Adams to a minor league deal who adds another "proven" late innings releiver.
  20. I highly doubt Beachy gets $5M+ gauranteed for 2015. The Braves nontendered him because they didn't want to spend $1.5M on him coming off his 2nd TJ surgery. He likel signed for $1M base plus incentives with a team option for $6-8M ($500K-1M buyout). It appeared all he was looking for was a major league deal in 2015.
  21. My guess is that if K-Rod drops his asking price to 1yr/$6M or 2yrs/$10M, DM will bite. Otherwise he will wait it out a while longer to see if an injury opens the door for him during ST.
  22. These are the players most mock drafts and big boards have listed in the 6-10 range: Myles Turner (C/PF) Mario Hezonja (SG/SF) Kristaps Prozingis (PF) Willie Cauley Stien © Kelly Oubre (SF) Kevon Looney (SF/PF) Justise Winslow (SG/SF). None of these guys seem likely to have a bigger impact than MCW next season. This still leaves the Bucks without a PG unless they signa free agent or draft one with their own pick. This means the Bucks are convinced one of the following are capable of leading this team as a rookie: Tyus Jones Terry Rozier Isaiah Taylor Jerian Grant Delon Wright Marcus Paige Although all but Jones and Paige are considered more combo guards than true point guards. Personally, I'm not excited about any of these options as much as I am for MCW. His ceiling is still pretty high for a second year player.
  23. With 4 turnovers and some of the worst efficiency in the league. He may improve with us, it would be difficult to be any worse but it's a huge gamble trading that Lakers pick for him and that's essentially what we did. The same things were said when we acquired Knight. Knight was forced to create his own shot while still being young, inexperienced with little to none real coaching. I trust Kidd's opinion more than mine or anyone else's on Brewerfan and will assume MCW can improve under the tutelage of Kidd similar to how Knight was able to. MCW definitely isn't the offensive player Knight is but is a better defender and facilitator whihc it appears Kidd is looking for in his PG going forward. The fact we were able to flip 1/2 season of Knight for 3 younger, cost controlled assets is a testiment to this new Bucks regime. I'm more excited about the future of this team today than I was before the trade.
  24. I was originally hoping both would have been traded at the deadline for expiring contracts/draft picks. Not sure how much value either will hold by the offseason.
  25. Not based on these reports. http://www.hoopsrumors.com/2015/02/acquire-brandon-knight.html
