  1. These numbers also indicate all three possess advanced control for being so young. Thus far, Stearns has targeted young, versatile, above average defensive MLB ready players and young pitchers who possess good control and produce solid K/BB numbers.
  2. Don't know any of them, but I am happy to have them in the system. This is really buying a lottery ticket, but I'm okay with that. actually three lottery tickets. but a lottery ticket's worth is dependent on how big the jackpot is and how good the odds are of winning. From what I've read so far of the scouting reports, it looks like the jackpot (their ceiling) isn't exactly the powerball and the fact that they're so far away from the majors, are pretty long odds of getting that winning ticket, much less three. but, who knows, hopefully see them all in 2022 in blue and yellow. Buying three lottery tickets instead of one gives you better odds of winning. Maybe their floors are not as high as say, DJ Peterson but I would prefer gambling on three pitchers who are already showing advanced control and ability to miss bats over an average to slightly above average offensive 1B who is already considered a negative defensively. Like others have stated, Stearns seems to be targeting specific players who fit a certain style of play which might not be the current "best practice" of how to build a championship roster. But he might already be two steps ahead for the curve like the Royals were the past couple of years. Being consistent in his approach holds more value to me than the type of players he is targeting and where they rank in prospect lists.
  3. Top 30 is usually more about potential than actual production until you get to the upper levels. Undrafted players who are signed at 16 are considered to raw to project hence are usually left off top prospect lists (i.e. Lara was not considered a top prospect in our system after he was signed. He only made the list after he proved he could produce in the minors). Thier above average command and ability to miss bats at a high clip compounded with their age makes them lottery tickets like others have stated. My guess would be sabermetrics and advanced stats shows a trend of these types of pitchers having a better success rate than those with good stuff but minimal control (i.e. Hellweg).
  4. Here is the list of players I am hoping we are choosing from: Gohara, O'Neill, Liberato, Yarbrough, Wells and Pike
  5. Drury straight up for Lind! (Stearns drops the mic)
  6. Good point. I feel Stearns is the type of GM who is wiling to show his hand in order to get a knee jerk reaction from a desperate GM.
  7. If Peterson is going to be part of the deal, I am hoping we also get either Powell or Pike.
  8. I'd rather this trade be official before "slotting" Peterson into the Top 10 Brewers prospects, but I would actually put Peterson at #4 behind Arcia, Phillips and Clark. I would put him at #10 or 11 in our system depending on how you rate Davies.
  9. I think the logically thing for Stearns to do is wait for Davis to sign and start a bidding war between the teams who lost out. My guess is most of these teams are doing their due diligence by checking in with the Brewers to see what our asking price but consider him plan B if they can't sign Davis. As for Moreland, he can barely hold Lind's jockstrap and is considered more of a big bat off the bench than a starter at this point.
  10. Come on, you didn't regret letting Zealous Wheeler go? He had one of the coolest names ever.
  11. Toronto lacks the high end prospect I would be looking for in any trade involving Lucroy. As for Segura, if they are willing to send over Greene or Hollon, count me in.
  12. He does. Don't even bother responding to his Braun at 3B obsession. Nice... now how about addressing my objections to giving up assets that could be used for either plus bats or pitching prospects for a short-term "fix" for a CF position that is not broken, particularly when there is a possible short-term option in the form of Michael Reed that is already on the 40-man roster? And my only mention of Braun and third base was to note that moving Santana from center field was the same kind of mistake the Brewers made about eight years ago with Braun. No one is suggesting we give up assets for a stop gap CF. I think Stearns is referring to signing someone like Austin Jackson or Rajai Davis to a one or two year deal until Phillips or Taylor is ready to step in. I also prefer letting Reed or Wren have first shot at CF but signing someone like Davis would provide us with a solid 4th OF just in case one of our young guys struggles. As for Santana, I'm on board for trading Davis. His HR totals are going to make him expensive when he hits arbitration in 2017 and I believe Stearns is wanting to go with a more athletic and better defensive OF. Move Braun back to LF and slot Santana in RF where his arm plays up.
  13. Sign me up for Powell and Marlette for Lind.
  14. Would Lind and Jeffress be enough to pry away Alex Jackson?
  15. OKC looks like a potential trade partner for the Bucks if they are looking to deepen their roster for a playoff run. My hope is Hammond could pry away Payne in the process. Payne, Morrow and Waiters for Mayo and MCW seems like a fair deal for both sides.
  16. Looks like my trade idea of Lucroy going to the White Sox is out the window since they signed both Avila and Navarro. Although having them sign both players tightens up the market for catchers even more. This list of remaining FA is not very appealing: J.P. Arencibia (30) Carlos Corporan (32) Tyler Flowers (30) Jeff Mathis (33) Michael McKenry (31) Jordan Pacheco (30) Wilin Rosario (27) Hector Sanchez (26)
  17. Tough to bank on a injury prone starter to be a fixture in your rotation when you are a legit playoff contender where your margin for error is minimal.
  18. Count me in for claiming him off waivers. Plays 3B, 1B and LF while providing a decent OBP.
  19. I know his injury concerns matter but I'm willing to take a chance on him if the asking price is only Lind.
  20. Tate, Ortiz and Kivlehan for Lucroy and Smith is a fair trade for both sides.
  21. These types of prospects usually cost you a player like Lucroy or another top 20 prospect like Arcia. Bundy is more affordable because of his injury concerns.
  22. +1 I am down to trade away every asset we have for as many high ceiling prospects we can get and see who pans out over the next 3-4 years.
  23. As a kid, my brother and I would watch Emmett Otter's Jug Band Christmas which was a Jim Henson production and our mom actually bought it for us a few years back. Now we make sure to turn it on every Christmas since and sing along to the dismay of our wives and kids (we are both in our early 40's with kids ranging from 20 down to 8). The movie is in the form of a musical with puppets and is extremely cheesy. I'm pretty sure my mom regrets buying us that DVD now. I am also a big fan of A Charlie Brown Christmas and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (Cartoon).
  24. Not enough IMO. I would be asking for a package starting with Bradley and Drury for just Lucroy. Blair's ceiling is that of a #2-3 pitcher. I would be looking for a possible ace pitcher for any package involving Luc. Peralta is an interesting player since he is coming off a down year. I would not be selling low on him if I was Stearns and be asking for a return comparable to standard package for a mid-rotation starter with 4 years of team control.
  25. At this point I would prefer a platoon of Perez and Villar over adding a AAAA player like Middlebrooks.
