  1. How do I rectify my support for a fellow small market franchise while simultaneously dealing with the realization that Ned Yost just won a WS before the Brewers did?
  2. Last decade's worth of #5 picks for posterity's sake: Kyle Tucker, Nick Gordon, Clint Frazier, Kyle Zimmer, Bubba Starling, Drew Pomeranz, Matt Hobgood, Buster Posey, Matt Wieters, Brandon Morrow, and of course Braun. Not counting Braun that's a 5/5 split between College and HS and 6/4 Bats vs Arms. Based on that I'm going to make the way too early and not at all scientific prognostication that we end up with top HS bat Blake Rutherford.
  3. On the plus side, based on last year's draft we should have 4 picks inside approximately the top 80, so plenty of opportunity to stock up.
  4. Funkhouser to the Dodgers at 35 was the highest unsigned pick so we're in the clear on any compensatory picks.
  5. In what I'm sure will become a much bigger story in the next few days, David Denson has revealed his homosexuality in an interview with the MJS and Tom H. I think the organization's reaction to David privately is very exciting and I look forward to the young man continuing to progress through his development. It would be awesome to see him reach the big leagues as the first publicly known gay ball player.
  6. Make it 4 now, add #39 and #87 in Phillips and Santana
  7. I noticed that too, it was almost as if someone had said something to him but who knows.
  8. I wouldn't be surprised if his number is up there some day to be honest...
  9. The other thing pulling me off the ledge is the fact that Carlos Gomez hasn't been all the great this season, let's be honest. If he were having another MVP campaign, might be a different story. If he was having another MVP campaign we might not even be selling and if we were, we'd get more back.
  10. Could anyone see a situation where Flores plays 2B against Lefties and 3B against Righties? Or is he just going to be the full time 3B?
  11. Per Joel Sherman, deal is done
  12. Struck out the side, that slider looks NASTY
  13. Boor reporting a source has said Clark is "coherent and moving". Either way, very frightening stuff, hope the young man will be ok and ready to get back on the field sooner rather than later.
  14. Oh boy, reports from Maryvale that 1st Round pick, Trent Clark, just ran head first into the wall in CF. No confirmation on severity of injury at this point. EDIT Having trouble embedding the tweet but a reporter at the game is reporting that Clark was down for about 15 minutes and left the game on a stretcher in a firetruck (could have been an ambulance, just reporting what was stated. If you are looking for updates the reporter's handle is @wboor.
  15. Can anyone tell me when we get another chance to sign JJ Schwarz? It really hurts to have missed that guy, he had a studly Freshman year.
  16. Colorado having a MONSTER draft.
  17. OK we got our college pitching, let us please get back to HS with upside in the 2nd round.
  18. Any chance Clark could be an underslot guy?
  19. I think we'll get Funkhauser or Ponce. I want Allard or Whitley. I'm going to go completely away from all that and say the pick is Chris Betts.
  20. Speculation continues that the team is looking at college pitching but Callis says that Whitley and Betts are still in the mix as well. I just hope the team takes BPA with a lean towards youth. Allard would be the pick for me.
  21. Honestly if we are going AAA then I'd prefer to see Shane Peterson at this point. I wouldn't hate Michael Reed either but I'd probably lean Peterson at this point. I'd move Reed to AAA and then if they trade Parra, which they should, I'd give Reed the call at that point provided he acclimatizes well to AAA.
  22. This is a depressing move, this was our chance to get the top pick and do a real rebuild and now we will probably start winning more games.
