  1. Burnes cruising, would love to get another out of him if he gets up with nobody on base and 2 outs. or an easy bunting situation.
  2. It’s one thing to be on the roster to protect against middle infielders being injured and needing a glove at SS. It’s another to get at bats when others are available to play. They probably carry him over a better emergency infielder for his power. Can’t understand any other logical reason. yea you need an infielder and at least Schoop could run into one for a ding dong way more often than Saladino can
  3. Did Jesus and Moose look any better vs a really good P? Basically everyone has looked bad on offense tonight, maybe besides Braun and Santana. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure this was his last start of the post season. Just saying everyone has been garbage tonight vs some good P, can't expect him to go 2/3 when no one else is either. He at least hit a bullet one of three times, more than several others can say
  4. They'll just bring in a lefty, and there's 2 down and no one in scoring position. Why waste him? And defense in a tie game
  5. love the current rant against the shift while ignoring the numerous outs every game saved by it. classic old school
  6. Maybe wait for when the Jesus double switch is needed? IDK, not sure if you want to go with worse D right now eta: I guess you could put Shaw in for jesus and then put Perez in for D now.
  7. I still say Stearns needs to get a TOR guy, and I believe he will. That to me would be the final piece of the puzzle. Are we sure we don't have one in Burnes for 500K and the cost of no prospects?
  8. Glad to see Buck immediately call Machado wrong on it and say it wasn't really debatable
  9. It was better this way, got to face all righties. Wouldn't have happened if he started. Maybe he still does well who knows, just saying the matchups were ideal for him and he capitalized.
  10. Which is a fail on Stearns part for acquiring a player who didn’t really fit on the roster. All true. Just have to remember they thought they needed a SS for this year at the time of trade. That ended up not being the case, just saying at the time of trade you could see what was going on. even as a general Schoop defender. I was still not a fan of it and to me my general not liking of it stems from the low obp free swinger type in general. preferred targeting the contact Walker type like the year before, Daniel Murphy, etc. I just chalk this fall off up to circumstance, not judging off results. He is not as bad as he's looked, that's where my defending comes from
  11. He hits a bullet and still gets ripped. I think you have to give Arby and hope he rebounds, can flip for something at the deadline or play it out. 10 mil is a lot per year but not having to give a multi year commitment is a big help, making it very low risk. they gave up too much to give up so quickly. Can even offer arby then just take what you can get to recoup your losses. Someone will buy low due to the low risk one year commitment
  12. hey at least he hit it hard. Just don't swing at the two in the dirt though and you'd be in a better spot
  13. How about we just don't swing at the curve for an inning and see what happens? have any actually ended in the zone
  14. Been on the ropes all game and only down 1. One good offensive inning and they have this thing.
  15. One thing to contribute to the Schoop talk, have to remember that at the time they couldn't bank on anything from Arcia. If they'd know Arcia would come back as a competent hitter it changes their decision process. They were expecting him to need to start a bunch at SS.
  16. I get the Peralta idea and all but not sure of the risk when you can basically do the same thing with Wood/Burnes with less risk of walks/blowup. I'm sure their RH splits aren't as impressive but I'd think still very good, and both have been great for a while now (excepting last game for Burnes). So I'd just go the conventional route (relative to the brewers anyway) and go with one of them. If you do roll the dice on Peralta one of these guys has to be ready to go as well to yank if Peralta walks or as soon as two guys get on base.
  17. So the Dodgers did exactly what we wanted them to do. I'll take it, now let's just execute the plan.
  18. He was sitting right next to Front Row Amy on Friday. Someone has been buying a set of 4 seats in section 117 row 1 for all these playoff games for about 1400-1800 apiece on SH, I have to assume it is Marlins Man. I suppose it's possible it's a different person buying them each time...we'll see if a game 6 and/or 7 happen. I was a few sections over Friday and met him. Was friendly and talked with anyone who wanted, took pics with anyone. For those not familiar, this isn't all a big look at me I'm rich thing. Sure, it's part of it at this point but behind it all it's a charity general positivity thing. Often buying lots of tickets and giving them away to various groups/causes usually police, fire, first responders, teachers, type of things. Sometimes just goes to the upper decks and gives people up there good seats, things like that.
  19. I see it, but sort of relented after he came in. The weird thing is, the guys I was talking to were most upset that he was taken out for the 9th, but also arguing "what if we need him tomorrow!" The only reason he is possibly available today is because he was taken out. As an aside, Counsell has been named co-manager of the year by Sporting News. I could've phrased differently or more clearly. Yes, it could've been an option to not pitch him in the 8th there and see what happens, like the Soria situation I mentioned. However, how can anyone claim it's absolutely stupid, horrible, moronic, or controversial? It was easily the clearest/safest path. Bringing him in was the "by the book" move so to speak. Up by 6 or 7, yea I get it then. But you're only up 4 vs the heart of a loaded lineup, which is essentially the same as up 3 vs most teams plus high stakes here obviously. The alternative moves were the controversial/risky ones, not just going with him to face two lefties or make them yank lefties and empty their bench. The yanking him once in was the controversial move. Putting him in initially was by the easiest and simplest solution to the problem/situation.
  20. I don't remotely see how playing Hader was controversial. If it was 3-0 people wouldn't question due to traditional Save opps, but 1 more run then it's crazy? LAD offense is potent, moreover he was already warmed up when it was 2-0. IMO the time to get greedy could've been to see if Soria could go that whole inning with Hader ready if he gave up a runner. Then re-assess the 9th after. To me the only discussion point was what to do after Hader was already in, let him just ice it himself or get greedy to save him for today. I see both sides of it and don't think there is a clear answer or at least a "the other side is a moron" type answer. I would've just let him finish but it worked out, so hopefully they win today.
  21. Correct. CC said on the field after the game taking him out was all about having him available today. If they're in a place to win this game they're putting their foot on the gas, no holds barred, etc. If you go up 3-1 it's almost a lock to win. And have to remember Kershaw tomorrow, while I know he's not what he was, you should be doing all you can to not go into that game 2-2 because if you go down 3-2 the odds are massively against you.
