  1. Yes, like one of Arod's points is that typically over the years the team that gets the most innings out of starters usually wins. I'm sure supported by math as well as it's perfectly logical. But there is kind of a chicken/egg thing because in the past you used your starter until you couldn't anymore, therefore of course the starter who got knocked out earlier is more likely to lose the game. It's not just that starter is eating hte innings that's leading to the wins, it's that he's likely winning the game that is leading to the innings. What MKE is doing is pre-empting when the starter usually starts to struggle and have built a pen specifically to handle this strategy (as opposed to past pens reliant on 1-2 guys who can go 1 inning each), it's totally irrelevant and different from what they're discussing.
  2. The NFL Network will replay last night's Packers game this afternoon. I wish the MLB Channel did that. It would be so fun to rewatch this one playoff game again! MLB Network has been doing that the last few days. They're playing last night's game right now
  3. 100% agree, this has been his biggest strength all year, getting out of crazy jams. Most of the time not created by him and his stuff is groundball heavy which is ideal for the situation. Last week or two, not so much of course.
  4. That's fair. however, I think the best way to get him on track is to rest him. Chances are the issues here are stemming from how much he's been used. Two straight off days maybe could've been a help in that regard. Also, I think the main reason he went to JJ was to have Hader available today. He basically said so right after the game.
  5. Mine was Amex as well. Just providing data for people.
  6. An interesting thing to watch here is whether the Dodgers play their normal 'vs lefty' lineup where they sit down a bunch of their lefties or not after seeing how we just used Gio for one time through last time. Basically, do they kind of call our bluff on it or not. Because if they do the same as last time, we're going to counter with Wood or Burnes quickly for R on R matchups and/or them burning their bench early. And if they bring in lefties to counter Wood/Burnes then hader can come in the 7/8 and mow them down. If they call our bluff, then well we can hope Gio does well and gets through the lineup twice. Big game of chess, interesting to watch.
  7. Again, our starters are throwing 75 pitches not 100, so they might not view this at all the same way as we traditionally have and how those stats read. This is all new and MKE seems a step or two ahead of the curve here
  8. Mine was done several days ago now so chances are it was done by the Brewers (why would some be done and others not) and it's your credit cards that are slow in the processing.
  9. I would guess because they don't look at short rest the way we traditionally have because they're throwing fewer pitches. So to they're not viewing short rest as this big risk like we have always done. Second, because they likely view game 5 as crucial. The team that gets up 3-2 is at a massive statistical advantage and/or it's possibly a clincher for us.
  10. To me it's not so much out of not trusting JJ. It was about usage. He's been worked a lot this year, threw a ton of pitches in the first games, maybe that's contributing to him being a bit off. Could've got him 2 days off. Also, with 3 games in a row, that would mean he could more easily go in both games 4 and 5. If he goes tomorrow he really can't Wednesday. That also applies to Hader. So while I know this was all about Hader being available tomorrow, it might've hurt you elsewhere. Oh well, it worked and now Hader is available tomorrow. Get the W tomorrow and you're almost a lock to win. Also, Rodgers is very good at football
  11. A rod made a good point. JJ has thrown 60 pitches in 3 games. All the talk is on Hader being overused, unavailable, etc. Well that could apply to JJ here too.
  12. Whew, thank you. Guess it worked, Hader more available tomorrow now. but wow. to what I said earlier, CC managed a pitching staff to a shutout so have to keep in perspective.
  13. His stuff is still sharp. So it's not like he's just awful all of a sudden or anything. Bit of a bad luck and just a hair off on locations. Still lik him overall, but just wanted the simple move. Get this over with now
  14. Still confident in him. But now even if he does he's over 20 pitches instead of fresh tomorrow. Your 3 best guys are all used now
  15. basically he did what the announcers and some here wanted, find a way to save Hader for tomorrow. Now look at it. The time to get greedy imo would've been with Soria, not after Hader is already in.
  16. I'll say I don't like this. I trust JJ. But just that they're getting greedy imo. and even if it does work fine, now all 3 of your top guys were used today instead of one fresh tomorrow. Cmon, JJ just 1 2 3 and remind everyone how great you've been
  17. I can guarantee that the postgame show will rip on the bullpen use and give no credit to the Brewers staff as a whole. I’m not watching that garbage again. They do it everytime. They will complain they entire time that our starter only went five and we used Hader and then say how we have two more game in two days. It is just endless. Say Hader finishes this off with 0 runs. our manager is going to get ripped for managing a pitching staff to a shutout in only a 4-0 win that was 1-0 and 2-0 til later. Folks need to relax and keep it in perspective.
  18. Exactly, I was going to say the same thing. Let's just get two in here and have it over with. Can use Guerra and everyone can relax
  19. He meant it would give the Brewers' RHP relievers a big advantage later on if Hader was in their first and LAD ph'ed for their LHB's earlier. If that's what you're referring to. Correct. I was referring that once Hader forces the RH into the lineup, it gives the Knebels/Sorias/Jeffress an advantage later on when they face those righties instead of lefties earlier in the game
  20. Agree. I think everyone is overthinking this. Take your W. Sure you could've got creative, but often times the simplest solution is the best one.
  21. I wonder what Coach Cooper would've done there? My guess is step on the other teams throat like CC did, so obviously I'm fine with it.
  22. I don't think there's anything to get worked up either way. not a clear right answer with a lot of gray area. Certainly can't fault a manager for locking up the W they have right in front of them, its perfectly logical.
  23. looked like Soria was going. Righty leading off. So maybe a way to save a few pitches for Hader. Then it's Pederson/Muncie. We'll see, big game of chess
