  1. Yea, pretty much what I mean. They intentionally made the team worse knowing it would end in losses. And they came right out and said it, and I was fine with it. But that's by no means a great time to experience in 'fandom'.
  2. Yea just tough luck at the end here that Cubs and Rox won't lose. Only kickign ourselves would be over the sweep in Cincy and losing 4 to MN. Get just 3 of those 7 games and they're right there, heck even just 2. Still, they're doing what anyone could reasonably expect but getting no help.
  3. The Brewers have at no point in this rebuilding process ever intentionally lost a game. Trading talent when you don't have a shot at the playoffs does not equate to intentionally losing or tanking games. What it is, it smart baseball. But that team looked like 100 loss team and THEN they suffered from injuries and yet they still played hard, battled and exceeded expectations...despite a losing record. But the emergence of Villar, Braun bouncing back and having a big year, Davies and all the rest of the story lines were huge. As far as the trades, we got rid of Luc, Smith and Jeffress at the absolutely ideal times and in return we got two top 65 pitchers, a guy in Brinson who's a top 15 prospect as well a the headliners. We traded Thornburg and got Shaw who looks like a building block at what was the worst position in the organization at 3rd, a SS who hit ~.300 and who's defense is GG caliber, a reliever who can hit trippled digits and a lower level lottery ticket. This year we expected 100 losses again and are a couple wins from 81(remember when getting to .500 was a big deal) with a couple weeks left and a legitimate shot at a division title or a WC. I was born in 82 so I would imagine that stretch from 77-82 were the best in Brewers history(That 82 team was a Rollie Fingers injury away from a WS). So for me, the 92 season was my favorite, then it was 2006 or 2007 when we were building up and finally it was starting to show up on the field and then obviously the 2011 season where we might have been a Mark Kotsay move away from a WS was the best season. But the last two just in terms of expectations and fun watching the game have been very-very good. And to anyone thinking we were intentionally losing, I can't imagine you were watching the Brewers play. I'm surprised I even have to say this, but of course the players on the field were not trying to lose. Clearly the management was though, they were a team trading off all it's MLB talent besides Braun knowing they were going to lose more games than they would otherwise. That's clearly what I meant and it's undeniable, I mean, they came right out and said it. And as I said, as diehards we see the big pic and it's what I wanted. But it's still not a time I'd ever call a great time to be in as a franchise, it's something you have to do for the future. Get through the pain and start winning again. I'm happy that it hasn't last as long as we all expected, but if you think they had any expectation of winning more than 75ish games last year or this year you're mistaken. But the players are gonna try and they've exceeded this year because obviously they're playing hard still. I mean, they all want to get paid too. Good on them. And hopefully it carries into next year and then like I said I could see your argument being made for the 17/18 two seasons as this year has been great overall
  4. My only contribution to that argument would be that i wouldn't be so confident that Puig would have rebounded this season like has if he'd have been traded to MKE. HEck, he might have put up a fuss and refused to report. Either way he'd be coming in with a bad attitude. As said, we don't know the prospects so it's tough to know for sure. Just adding that you need to remember that at the time Puig was unplayable and who knows how he'd have reacted after the trade. Just saying to factor that in the equation. I know Braun's had a rough few weeks. But tonight he hit the ball hard 4 of 5 times.
  5. Or he can hit a blah bouncer. This P is not good, he should have took too and waited him out for something better. Still, he was probably an inch away from that being a bullet to right. He hits that well to right quite a bit
  6. I hate on perez as much as anybody. But it was a fastball down the middle so can't be too mad. And the guy has come up with some hits lately at key times. just a few games ago with 2 outs he hit one in the lf gap to score a couple. Still probalby a good time to take the first pitch as i'd assume he's never hit against this P before. Get out of this inning and we have 234 next inning. Either way, get a couple more there. Braun was pretty mad after his rocket got caught earlier, followed it up with a ding dong. Expecting him to hit it hard again at least.
  7. well it was fastball right down the middle, can't be too mad at swinging I guess. but after a walk it's frustrating
  8. There are plenty different gamecast to follow. The one i am on sucks I guess, thanks now I will use a different one. ESPN says the same as CBS. In general CBS beats ESPN in that and phone apps. ESPN sucks for everything except live games. Cmon perez
  9. Sorry if you think blathering is offensive. CBS play by play has 9 pitches and the results I said. And yes i'd have said exactly that in person and then walked to a different part of the bar to not be around your negativity. Here we go Walker, repeat of last night would be great.
  10. No it doesnt, also shows they werent willing to draw walks that inning. I dont think ever having a 4 pitch inning is a good thing, I am sure someone will argue it though. Two of the guys took the first pitch and one got to a 2-2 count. And like I said, 2 liners. But yea keep going on something you're clearly wrong on
  11. Here and there I have. Not much though, mostly gamecast. And thats Amazing considering they had a four pitch inning. Looked at the inning I think you're blathering about and if it was the 456 hitters like you said, it was 9 pitches and two of them were line outs. The Jesus one to center and Pina liner to 3rd
  12. I don't remember the results that inning but I don't think the number of pitches matters for when the ball goes in play. Actually think that might have been Jesus' one to center that Yellich chased down
  13. Not sure if you've been watching but they've drawn walks and hit the ball hard all night.
  14. Yea him or Villar I'd have taken over Bandy. I suppose save them for later to hit when they can hit lefty instead since they're better as lefties, that's my guess. Really that have hit the ball hard tonight, just no luck at all. Could easily have two or three more runs and be right in it
  15. If it's a throwaway game you let Garza eat it. Not Davies, save Davies arm for next time. P starting next inning, hopefully can get two more innings out of Davies and in the meantime the offense puts something up to make this a game
  16. We're 1 and 0 on these games? And if anything it just proves the point that you can't predict what'll happen. We had our best P on fire going tonight vs a guy having an awful year and look where we're at. Just like Cubs having the P advantage this time doesn't for sure mean the games are a loss, yea your percent goes down but in baseball anything can happen.
  17. I mean, I think everyone said "if" he doesn't settle in. What would you have done if he gave up 4 straight bullets to start the 2nd inning all for hits and 2 runs with 2 on and nobody out?
  18. Well hope he settles in and gets 5 or 6 innings and only these 4. I don't have the pitchers schedules in front of me but if he is awful again in the 2nd and requires being pulled for a Garza or whoever, maybe he can back a day early to skip the next bullpen day since his pitch count will be low? IDK, just spitballing. Not over yet, just need him to settle in and they'll get back in this game
  19. I mean this year has been great overall but I don't know how last year was anything great as a fan. You watched a team do ok-ish, better than expected but still not a good team. And then you watched them trade the best C in franchise history and our two best bullpen guys. As diehards enough to be on this board we can appreciate what was happening for the long term, but by no mean would I call intentionally losing a good time for 'fandom'. Take 81-82 for sure above it aand anything from 08-12 since we all legitimately felt they could win divisions and make the playoffs. Now, whatever happens this yea if it leads into more winning next year and a division title then I see your argument since we know we'd be set up well for the future (whereas 2011 we knew we were all in). But I don't know how last year was anything to write home about.
  20. Will they sell more for the next 2 games? Sat/Sun were supposed to have more than Fri. And they were saying during the game last night that they were opening up more due to demand. So yea, there should be more the next two days. Hopefully they can get close to 30 instead of the I think 22K they initially said
  21. Yea this feels like a good Torres/Drake time. MAybe even let Garza feel good about himself in the 9th. I suppose Swarzak was already warmed up though so the damage is basically done on his arm already for the day??
  22. For complaining about attendance. To repeat again, they were only allowed to sell a limited amount due to lack of staff. They've basically sold all them they could. Earlier they said they had to bring in workers from Detroit, Chicago, Minnesota just to get this much staff. Pretty sure if allowed all these games would be 35K+ and Sat/Sun almost assured to sellout since the Packers play later and Badgers play early and both are on the road
  23. We have what should be significant pitching advantages the next two days and the Cubs should be at disadvantage both days. Sweep this weekend and have to think we'll be sitting OK. Sure would be nice if the Rox would lose a few though
