  1. For the love of god, can we just had a solid 7-2 win with no drama, please.
  2. So Villar has been so hot we needed him in CF last night vs the righty. But today he's not needed and Perez is in instead? As some might recall I was the one saying I got the logic on it last night. What i don't get is flipping the logic a day later. He got a hit last night and I think hit it hard one other time (but could be wrong), and laid down a bunt when asked. Don't see why he wouldn't be back in today
  3. At the time of the decision you'd have to be a fool to have kept Scooter over Villar. You couldn't have your back up IF not be able to play SS (while also having a backup 1B who can only play one position), that's simple thing #1. Second is that he's 2.5 mil so if he's only going to be a backup for a rebuilding team with no plan to win this year then you can save 2 miil pretty easily by going with a Franklin/Rivera/Sogard instead.
  4. Not only do you take the bat out of his hand, you do it with 2 strikes. Bunting with 2 strikes with anybody but the pitcher is really dumb, doing it with a hot bat is absolutely mind-blowing stupid. It's something I would have not been overly surprised with from Yost or Roenicke, but I really thought Counsell was a little smarter than that. Seems to be an emotional move made out of frustration. I think it might've been Villar's decision. Counsel is not a bad manager and you just don't see a lot of the head scratching things out of him that you did out of past Brewer managers. Really he shouldn't have been bunting at all. He's already lefty so a ton of ball in play outs will end in the guy getting to 3rd. And he's the hottest hitter now.
  5. Maybe should have let our hottest hitter who was put in the game for that reason to actually hit. Hate the smallball stuff, be confident and go up there and hit.
  6. well all the "we need to play small ball' folks should be happy. hope it works
  7. Yea shocking after the first coouple months that it turns out the O is the problem. WE all said at the time that the pitching would never hold up and that's why they really didn't have a shot. Don't think any of us would guess it would be the O holding them back.
  8. Yea, so far nobody has come through tonight. They should have had a line up of just Davies and ghost runners. Sogard smoked that ball earlier that Votto had to bat down. And his second hit was the hot shot right at 2B wasn't it that ended a DP? I think I'm right on both those but could be wrong, possibly mixing him and walker up. So he hit the ball hard each time, it's all you can ask
  9. Yea I pretty rarely get into anything like that. But I make one comment that I get why they're taking the risk and everyone freaks out like this is the dumbest clearest mistake ever and attacks. It hasn't hurt them in any game yet. And each one attacking has been ignoring the LH hitter who can play CF aspect, that's it right there. It's just like when everyone freaks out on whichever reliever happens to blow it on a given day that Counsel is a moron for it. There's logic in it, they're not morons. And I'd bet and assume Villar has been working there daily during BP so they've been gaining confidence. And really, he did make the play as far as the route/etc went. He just dropped the ball, just like he could drop the ball playing anywhere. Moving on, Davies just needs to keep dealing and if we can't score more than 4 runs you deserve to lose.
  10. Uhhh...Broxton has put up around an .800 OPS and has among the best range among CFs in baseball. It's kind of hilarious that you would make the 'you do have to have competent people to play the other spots' argument when Broxton has been easily better than Villar this season. Villar has literally been the best hitter for a month, they're trying to ride the hot hand and he's lefty vs a RHP. I don't get how this is so hard to grasp why they've been trying it. They knew the risk, they're not stupid. It was a gamble, they knew, it lost tonight. ...and he should be in the line-up, AT 2B! And they don't have a lefty to play CF other than rookie who hasn't done well. There's clear logic to it, they just lost tonight. They'd gotten lucky so far but yea after this I bet they're gonna be a lot more gunshy.
  11. Hey buddy that third out there was by the guy who gave up the one run his Bat didn't really turn out did it Hey buddy keep overreacting. He also already has a hit earlier in the game. So, if they play him at SS and he makes an error ya'll be freaking out then too. I'm not dumb, I know the risk, so did they. They're not dumb, they gambled and lost tonight. If you haven't noticed all year they're obsessed with getting lefties in vs hard throwing righties.

  13. Story of the 2nd half right there. But instead will obsess over the 1 run botched on D.
  14. It'll be fine. How many game threads have people complained when Villar is starting and then makes an out and you have to remind them how hot he's been. No one was screaming to get him out the lineup then. You're in a bang box park with a small OF. And your talks about to just put him elsewhere doesn't make up that there is no one competent offensively lefty hitter to play in CF. You do have competent people to play the other spots.
  15. The offense isn't hitting so put in bad defense make errors and give up runs? Yea that's what I said. No, you're risking some less D and hoping to get lucky that he doesn't get tested in order to get some extra runs. This is the first time it's burned them and Villar has been the hottest hitter. It's a calculated risk that you're simply hoping you make up more than you lose. It's not hard to understand.
  16. The offense isn't hitting and he's been the hottest hitter. I definitely see the logic in it and I don't blame them at all.
  17. I can't believe they're saying it shouldn't be an error. I don't blame him, he hasn't played much. But the ball hit him in the glove. clearly an error
  18. Yea I'd have just let Woodruff go Friday. He's been so good I don't know why you'd be overly worried about him. I guess I'd rather have W on Wednesday in my pocket already rather than risking it much more with Garza
  19. He was worried that since Gomes is signed multi-year that they would trade him again in the offseason and just generally that Cle wouldn't be the spot for him long term. If they didn't have Gomes signed he probably would be comfortable working out an extension in the offseason. Turns out it didn't turn out any better in TX but that's mostly been his fault for not playing well. If he'd have done well he'd probably have a deal locked in with them already. I mean, the team came right out and said they tearing down and rebuilding and not trying to win. But Lucroy is the devil for saying the same thing?
  20. I totally agree with Adambr2. You're crucifying a guy for being honest and forthright instead of giving cliched bs answers publicly to appease you as fans. While saying the truth behind closed doors to team officials like all other players do in these situations. Really I don't see much difference, but I'd rather support the honest guy than the guy giving fluff just because that's what you want to hear.
  21. Braun's slumped the last two weeks but he was as hot as we've ever seen him leading up to it. Unless there's yet another injury lingering that he's playing through I wouldn't be worried about him bouncing back soon. I posted JS article on here a couple weeks ago about his season. Hard hit %, exit velocity, etc basically saying it's been his second best year of his career but with horrible luck. Of course, that's dismissing the missed games due DL stints. They're just talking about his performance when he's actually played. ETA: Found the article, http://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2017/08/16/notes-hard-hit-balls-dropping-ryan-braun/570475001/
  22. At least they moved Scherzer to Sunday. Sunday could be reminiscent of the 26-1 game in WAS a few weeks ago that Perez pitched in where we just punted the game before it started. Scherzer vs. Garza?!? Drooling to see that matchup. Sounds like a W! Right, but it's better than having Max go Sat and then still have Garza or whoever the callup is go Sunday. Now you only have one game you're going into negatively. I bet this is Garza's last game starting, they'll sit Braun and others Sunday and just punt the game. Then try to use the bye days the next two weeks so you might only need a #5 one more time until the week of the 17th, and who knows they could be as good as out of it by then.
  23. At least they moved Scherzer to Sunday. Sunday could be reminiscent of the 26-1 game in WAS a few weeks ago that Perez pitched in where we just punted the game before it started.
  24. Just looked at the pitching matchups for the Nats series. By avoiding Strasburg they really don't look so bad besides the Scherzer one. 2 clearly in our favor and then kind of call Davies/Gio a wash. Obviously must get 2 of the 4. Get game 1 tonight and they're set up to at least do that and good shot at getting 3. Rockies have a tough matchup vs AZ this weekend too. After WAS they have a good run of games vs CIN, PIT, and MIA who are nothing special along with CHC of course. There's no reason they can't keep in this thing and one little hot streak could put them over the top for WC or division.
  25. Marlins have been playing good ball lately... Also, 22 wins puts us at 90 wins for the season. Do you think it will take 90 to make the playoffs? That seems high to me. Not saying you are wrong, just curious about your thoughts on that one. The Cubs seem to be coming alive at the right time. Moreover, their remaining schedule is pretty light. They have 31 remaining games. 15 are against the Braves, Pirates, Mets, Rays, and Reds. I'd put the over under on their win total at about 20. That would give them 91 wins. As for the wild card. I don't think we catch Arizona, we are 6 back of them and they just got Robbie Ray back and they are playing really well. Maybe the Rockies go in the toilet as they have tons of games remaining against LA and AZ. I still think its takes about 88-91 games to make the playoffs. Cubs just lost 2/3 to Philly. Now they've won 2 in a row. But every time this year it looks like hey're about to turn it on they've crashed right back down. After the ASB when we tanked and they had the hot streak it looked over. Then they went right back to being the mediocre team they've been all year. It's just as likely that continues.
