  1. Just looked at what you are describing...believe it was the CDC website. It is outdated by a few days.
  2. I think that's the point. They know those people are all gonna travel so bringing them all back together would be a recipe for mass spreading. Yea, if you could somehow make them not travel but how are you going to enforce that? Especially as a big chunk of people walking around telling everyone it's just like the flu, no big deal. Plus, young people are unlikely themselves to be at risk. It's them getting it and spreading it to others more at risk that would be the problem. Yup, it is no coincidence most are shutting down so there is a 2 week (14 day or so) gap before kids would come back. Basically assures no one would get the coronavirus over break and then bring it back to spread at the school.
  3. Rudy Gobert was not only careless at the press conference, but apparently was careless in the locker room touching teammates and varies belongings in the locker room.
  4. Decision on the NCAA tourney will happen tomorrow. The ACC and SEC have canceled spring sports till further notice, including any championships (basketball, horses, and gymnastics). That conveniently left out basketball at the national level, but I don't see how the tourney will go on at this point. With the cancellations going on they will have no choice, but to follow suit.
  5. Reports are Major League Baseball will soon announce the suspension of Spring Training games. Also not shockingly they plan to suspend/delay the start of the season too.
  6. There is absolutely no logical reasoning that the tourney can and should go on. They just canceled all the conference tourneys that were set to be played without fans (well, at least the Big 12...not sure about the others)...so next week we are suddenly going to play empty stadiums for the tourney...when conditions are going to be much worse than they are today? If you cancel the games for safety this week the same will happen next week. Tournament is essentially toast at this point.
  7. NBA had no choice. Once a player got it they had to quarantine two teams minimum...and probably some of the past teams they faced too. You can’t have a handful of teams flat out not play for weeks while others do. There was no other option than to stop playing games.
  8. It was fine last week while I was there...but some teams are starting to crack down on policies.
  9. I would be absolutely shocked if any team is playing for fans opening day to be honest.
  10. Gross, just gross. I seriously hope the conferences start blocking fans from going. I’m just imagining teams having an awkward/terrible night because they are playing a game in an empty arena for the first time. Hope teams can get some practice in their conference tourneys, but doubt it happens. I will watch until my team is out and then I won’t care...just won’t be the same and I’m certainly not that excited for it now. For the record I understand why they are doing it, just sucks...and will suck when it likely changes the MLB games too. Rumor has it they could even cancel the entire thing.
  11. The same Texas that is about to axe large events like this also?
  12. While Evan Longoria hopes it doesn't create too many games without fans...he did mention that he is used to it from his past. Poor Rays getting roasted by Longoria.
  13. I believe Milwaukee doubled their Spring Break and I know many of the UW colleges have been gauging their students ability to do classes online.
  14. If true that is pretty dumb on the Brewers part. I am skeptical though. The only thing I read is that an opt-out never came up because Yelich didn't want one.
  15. I do not buy they were being cheap and non tendering players like crazy to afford Yelich. First off, his deal doesn't really start for another 2 years...so giving out one year contracts is woefully meaningless when it comes to Yelich. No way they were penny pinching every dollar to give it all to Yelich in his 30s. Stearns simply is not that stupid. In the grand scheme Yelich will never be a huge burden on the payroll anyway. The salary will be $26mil ($22mil if you consider deferrals)...that simply is not very much money per year these days. I mean, yah, there is zero chance we go get Arenado (was always zero). Also means we probably won't be signing a FA for $30mil...but again, we knew that anyway.
  16. 20 game fans choice any game is fair game. There are some limiters so you can't pick every single Cubs game etc...but I am sure you could cover all the bobblehead SGA games. If you are looking on the season ticket site I am guessing you didn't see there are three tabs of games (Single+Double, Triple, Homerun). All the bobbles are probably "Triples" which you can select a max of 12 of those games. You must pick at least 5 "Single+Doubles" and can have a max of 3 "Homeruns"...which is essentially Cubs games (including Opening Day).
  17. Kind of crazy to think about, but Braun fell off the cliff at age 29. He rebounded for good seasons at 30-31, but for the most part after that 2nd place finish he just wasn't much. Yelich is pretty similar to Braun physically and prior to his drop off Braun was a fairly healthy guy. I don't think anyone expected Braun to turn into such a fragile guy. Yelich's dWAR could be a concern in the long run if he doesn't stay on the top of the league for 3+ more years. He already puts up negative dWAR so as he ages I am sure that trends much like Braun's did. He got into the league at a much younger age than most and he also hit major elite status sooner than a guy like Braun...so he has a head start. If he puts up video game numbers another 2-4 years he will probably make the HOF regardless of how shaky he is at the end of the deal.
  18. Yelich also gets 4 premium tickets to 20 mutually agreed upon home games per year. This adds about $100,000 to the deal
  19. It will be interesting to see what team Zack goes in for. He'll have spent more years with the Royals than any other and became the great pitcher he is with them but, I don't know, it just doesn't quite seem right to me. If Zack has any say in it I'm sure he'll chose the Angels because that's just the kind of guy he is. Greinke is the kind of guy who would go in as his favorite childhood team even though he never played for them. On another note I always assumed they would retire Braun’s number, but I suppose I don’t know the general consensus on that topic. Right now it is essentially guys in the HOF that they have retired. That being said Braun is far far above Brewer players that didn’t make the HOF. So not like there really is a good comp from Brewers history.
  20. Zack Greinke is already a lock. As far as CC, I like his chances...so he would be my current pick for next up.
  21. I was watching ESPN the other day and it sounds like they do not weigh the end of the season differently anymore. So the Badgers don't get any bonus points for streaking at the end. Similar to how Baylor isn't going to get docked for a sour ending. That is why Baylor is still a one seed these days, their overall resume still blows most teams out of the water.
  22. While they say injuries are taken into consideration not once have they ever said it actually changed anything (to my knowledge). Usually they get asked about it for a few teams every year and the answer is, no, it did not change how they were seeded. Those players are usually more notable than Potter too. I don't know they can even take into consideration Potter in that same sense anyway. The reality is just one seed difference is so monumental for a team (and the one that then has to get bumped down) it does not seem like something they really want to do. Looking at it Wisconsin is probably a 4 seed if they win one game. If they get bounced by Rutgers/Michigan I could definitely see them dropping to a 5 seed. I think they have to win the Big Ten tourney to have a chance at a 3 seed. They could win the Big Ten tourney and still not get a 3 seed though. Teams like Louisville/Oregon may be favored over Wisconsin if they win their tourneys.
  23. Badgers are probably a 5 right now. I’m not sure they can change that without making the final in the Big Ten tourney. That could probably get them into the 4 seed talk depending on what other teams do. There is no argument for them to be a #2. If they won the Big Ten tourney maybe you could argue they deserve a low end #3...but it won’t happen. That assumes they beat the best teams possible.
  24. The Yount catch is #1. It is the most memorable catch in the teams history. As someone who certainly wasn’t around to watch the early 80s I have never heard about or seen Oglivi’s catch until this thread. However, I have seen and heard about the no hitter catch a trillion times (thank you weather delays). The other two catches I am fond of are the Cain rookie year catch where he donated his body to chain link fence and the Gomez Tal’s hill catch. Tal’s hill catch is a personal favorite.
  25. Me either, it looks especially dumb when H2H etc. favor one team. Imagine beating a team twice and then sharing the championship with them. Then again Big Ten teams don’t play the same opponents in the conference every year so that makes it somewhat strange too.
