  1. Sad thing is most of them probably could make more now that baseball is shut down. Now they can get a job at one of the many businesses hiring like crazy right now.
  2. In the greatest development yet, FIBs are to stay in their homes and not leave.
  3. I don't really care for the positive test and death rates all that much. Comparing them between countries is much too fluky and many people not only will go under the radar, but simply are not allowed to even do a test. Not to mention the case numbers are simply behind the 8-ball...it doesn't accurately show the infected rate in present terms. I am much more interested in what is being done to help the infected. That is essential because a vaccine is far far away. If some rumors are true and we already have things to dramatically help those reacting poorly that is a game changer.
  4. What California did really isn’t that far off what we are doing already in Wisconsin. Biggest thing is businesses are shut down unless essential...though that won’t effect people working at home. Gas stations, grocery stores, banks etc. will all still be open. You can still go outside to exercise. The only thing it may effect is daycares, but that’s about it. The 10 person limit on gatherings pretty much gives you a de facto statewide quarantine.
  5. There are two kinds of people in this world: NBA teams and celebrities carelessly wasting tests. and Karl-Anthony Towns donating $100k to help testing in Minnesota.
  6. I don’t think the tests cost that much. At least it is a drop in the bucket for billion dollar teams. I will admit Frank, that reason is better than any of the BS they have spewed over the days when they get questioned on it...haven’t heard them make that claim though.
  7. Some of the rules are going to be a bit of a problem whenever it starts back up (if). The DL is going to put you out almost 25% of the season, demotion rules will put you ineligible for over 10% of the season, September rules will mean an expanded roster for 33% of it or so. You could prorate those rules, but it would reduce demotion rules so much you could almost demote your starters constantly with no punishment. Would be great though if a guy needs a few days off. They could go on the DL without much downside. Injuries would likely be a huge problem. Think about all those early season or ST injuries that go a solid 4-6 weeks. You would be out a crazy chunk of the year. Obliques would be crippling for ones season etc. I wonder how insane the standings would be. All kinds of teams have fluky half seasons to start and then fade. A shortened year you may be in the postseason when a normal year you probably wouldn't even finish over .500 after you come back down to earth.

    Pizza

This thread should be locked during non lunch/dinner times so I am not craving pizza at 9am.
  9. Bet if I offered to buy a test for myself they would tell me to hit the road. I don't think it is as simple as buying one. Regardless it is pretty sad NBA teams are buying tests to waste them...and the various celebrities too. It is unnecessary.
  10. One of the last cheap years is currently being wasted away. Kind of a big bummer.
  11. It has come out that the NBA teams getting full testing despite zero symptoms are paying a private lab to get them. So yes, these players and celebrities are getting tests based purely on their status.
  12. I though this was going to be about what I am spending my stimulus check on...but now I see the full title. Haha Well I spent the week (well a week and a half) prior to all the madness between the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, some hiking, horseback riding, and spring training. So going from that to what now is a huge quarantine is quite...different. So far I have done things per normal. Now I am stuck at home for 2.5 weeks minimum. I sold off all my video games a few years ago, but I am regretting it a bit these days. That would be kind of nice in the coming weeks at home. If it extends into April/May there is turkey hunting to look forward to since that is basically personal isolation out in the woods. Probably no safer place to be in all honesty.
  13. They get tests because they have money and get special treatment. It is that simple. The whole they interact and travel a lot is BS. Many other normal people do the same and won't get special treatment. Part of the NBAs argument for getting all the tests is because they think positive tests for athletes will bring awareness...LOL, right. Nothing like wasting tests on celebrities and athletes.
  14. It actually hibernates in the winter. Eventually sometime in December they open the roof to 'shock' it and then it gets covered with a tarp. I think they woke it up just before Spring Training started. It is essential to get it healthy. As one who was really looking forward to 50th anniversary I wouldn't be too sad if the season gets axed and the 50th thus has to take place next year. Really ruins the entire thing quite a bit if all the dates get messed up etc. I will be okay regardless with what happens, but that is my one bright side if it is canceled completely.
  15. Airline tickets don't start rebounding until June...so I suppose that tells you a little bit how optimistic airlines are about anything before June.
  16. The ones still open are fast food, bar food, and other restaurants that typically have some type of take-out in normal times. Don't know about you, but I have worked in multiple restaurants and the things you said are mostly false. Usually a different person does almost every task of the process. Someone preps, someone cooks, someone plates/boxes, and then someone takes it to the customer. This is pretty much the norm and efficient. I don't know of any real restaurant that has the chef do everything. While, yes, the cooking process kills the virus what about after? Many restaurants are also still doing take-out salad by me...that isn't cooked. I think it is relatively low risk in the grand scheme, but I don't see any reason why it isn't shut down. With all the other rules and bans that seems logical to be included.
  17. If they are going to essentially shut everything down and inconvenience everyone this bad just lock everything up already. Why is a food establishment allowed to make orders and (hypothetically) dish out the virus to everyone? Doesn’t make any sense.
  18. That’s the problem. The NCAA would almost have to grant additional scholarships so teams could keep those seniors in many cases. Problem is this would be an incredibly unfair advantage to teams that had seniors this year that are willing to come back. What about teams with no seniors (impact seniors)? What about freshman-junior. Why exactly does their year count and for seniors it doesn’t? What about seniors that were already done playing...they get a waiver for no reason at all? As far as high school athletes...it’s a real big shame. I can’t imagine losing out on a year of baseball etc. like that. Especially for a senior.
  19. Doesn’t Jason Witten collect social security these days...jeez.
  20. Maybe developed. They think about a year for it to actually be widely accessible. EDIT: Kansas has ended their school year...I think this will be the reality for many states in the end. Mind you Kansas is a very minor hit state for the virus so far.
  21. If one is actually considered unemployed during this stoppage...yes, I believe it would fall under the unemployment rules. This obviously varies by state. I don't see why this should be handled different than any other unfortunate time in society. Unemployment is unemployment. It isn't going to be a pleasant time, but at least you can pay the necessities and not have a big ole zero coming in.
  22. Maybe this will finally teach people to have an emergency fund and save. LOL, probably not.
  23. Tom Brady will be leaving the Patriots, confirmed by Brady himself.
  24. Flattening the curve is great, but that also means we are slowing killing people financially, the economy, and many businesses. You are telling me many hourly workers are going to not be able to work till August? I can't fathom what that means not only for those employees, but the (often times) small businesses they work for. Even for many large businesses this is incredibly crippling if this drags out months. Is this really that bad where it is worthy crippling all those things? There is a real belief school may be done for the year.
  25. Federal government won't even let it's own workers stay home to work...you are sadly mistaken if you think they are shutting down roads any time soon.
