  1. “Who can you trust for the rotation?” #1 it will be the off-season not August. We don’t need to settle for something we don’t necessarily want in the rotation. FA...trades. Not saying he should be in the rotation or whatever...just pointing out the current roster is pretty meaningless for 2020. We could make A LOT of changes. These aren’t all our options.
  2. Some of the stadiums have a less obtrusive net they are testing out for the extension area. I want to say maybe the White Sox did this. It’s supposed to be a material easier to look through while still having the ability to stop a baseball. Not sure how much better it actually is, but the article I read said that was the intention.
  3. Last night wasn't even his worst start. I've had this opinion for a while now. He just keeps proving me more right than I am wrong on it. And yes, it is totally understood that the Brewers were running out of options but they shouldn't go into this offseason thinking this guy is a stable piece to a good rotation. Actually, arguably his worst start. Pretty much seems like you were patiently waiting for any sign of struggle so you could post this. Two bad starts after a number of great ones seems desperate to call him out. I’m not disagreeing with you per say. Mainly because there is no reason he has to start in the rotation to get a major look next year...just like the 3 guys this year. You are lucky to get through April, heck spring training, without a major starter injury. Houser was well down the depth chart of starters this year and is getting in over half a years worth of starts. Anderson was the #6 guy (I think?) and he will get almost 30. There is way too much of an affection to take a promising guy and make sure he starts the year in the rotation like he will never get a chance if not. All it does is create horrible depth handing them a spot. Better off signing Lyles or Gio to get a spot to start 2020. If they flop it is an easy dump and let Houser start. However, start Houser in the rotation and it is whatever sketchy in house options you have.
  4. Nothing like a nicely timed thread.
  5. I’m not really convinced phone usage actually leads to more foul ball injuries. I think that is just a cool storyline after the players really started pushing the issue and demanding the extended netting.
  6. Literally judging me as a human because a I like to watch a baseball game close up without a net. Wow. If you calm down a bit and actually read my posts you will see at no point did I say “screw other fans safety” or “they shouldn’t do this”. So I don’t see where I don’t care about others or whatever ridiculous claim you are trying to make. Also I never said it was “ruining baseball” so how bout you stop trying to twist words of people to make them appear “self-absorbed and lacking empathy”. Of course you are coming after me for not being concerned for others safety (which is 100% false), but what about the people voluntarily sitting in dangerous sections under their own will power? They don’t even care about their own safety.
  7. Actually, it like....will. Maybe not your enjoyment...but others it definitely will be effected. Will it create massive drops in attendance, cancellation of season tickets, and a mass move of people away from netting...no, likely not. However, these things will happen to a degree. When they extended it the first time at stadiums I knew people personally that moved their season tickets to avoid it. I’m not sure if those people will suck it up now or completely move out of the “premium sections”.
  8. This is really condescending. Yea it is. I’m tired of hearing this incessant complaining about netting ruining the experience, when a baby getting smoked by a line drive would ruin your experience far more. I don’t know how anyone could watch that Almora clip from earlier this year and not be on board 100% with extended netting. And I just don’t believe these guys saying the netting ruins their view. You can’t even notice it unless you’re looking for it and are dead set on having something to complain about. Yes, we already came to the conclusion you don’t understand opinions that don’t align with yours.
  9. I think Braun can retire the two jersey thing. Maybe even go down to no jersey. At least the game would be watchable for women (and some men I guess haha). The team mojo streak is done.
  10. Haha. If they want to do it all the more power to them. I will adjust accordingly. Not looking for pity, just pointing out it sucks for me personally. It makes me less likely to attend a game or sit in more premium seats...it effects the experience for me. That isn’t any different than someone going less because food isn’t allowed to be brought in, long security lines, games being longer than in the past, or any other thing in between. Just because my opinion differs from yours doesn’t make be self-absorbed, whining, or whatever else you said. They can make it safer for fans, that’s cool and all. It just negatively effects my personal experience for why I go to a game. Also as someone else mentioned short railings are just as big of a problem as far as safety. You want to know why they are short? It effects the view of the game if they are any taller. Actually in the front row even they can be too tall sitting down. More people have died from falling over railings at stadiums by the way. Actually exponentially more. There has been one death by foul ball in the last half century, second deck...behind home plate. That happened this year and there is a sweeping change to make them longer. Why are they not protecting the second level where someone actually ended up dying? So if they are trying to save fans and make it safe they got a long way to go and are missing painfully obvious safety issues that have nothing to do with the actual game on the field.
  11. Cool, now I won’t have much reason to want and sit close, saves me a ton of money! I don’t go to games to sit behind a net. I typically sit as close as possible, but the net really just ruins the experience I go to games for. Sucks Miller Park doesn’t really have great field level seats in the OF. That being said I don’t mind loge level front row in the bleachers. Probably my go to when I do find myself at a game. That gives a pretty solid view of the game/field. I will refrain from my thoughts on the whole thing in general and leave it at my game day experience thoughts. Kinda funny very little MiLB stadiums have extended netting as it stands...which has a giant percentage of fans being kids and people just there to not actually pay attention.
  12. I remember when Stanton got smacked in the face some tried to lobby him for MVP as they felt bad for him. Clearly Yelich not getting that treatment anywhere. Acuna and Rendon are going to vulture Yelich votes now. Acuna is going to have a 40/40 season and Rendon was the 3rd place guy before this. I don't know that Yelich falls to 3rd though. Rendon and Acuna are going to rob each other of enough 3rd/4th place votes for that. Unlike Yelich who should still get a few top votes and nothing lower than 3rd.
  13. A 5 year extension only takes him through his 35 year old season. If you could make that happen it likely doesn't end in disaster. That is actually one year earlier than Braun's. In FA he probably would be able to command 7-8 years if he keeps it up...which isn't hard to see. To be honest someone of that magnitude hasn't hit the open market in a looong time. Trout/Stanton both signed extensions early and got around $35mil a year. Both their contracts are taking them to their late 30s. I don't think Machado/Harper are comparable for what it is worth. 8/$280mil or so isn't a crazy FA number he could expect, maybe some give either direction depending on how things go between now and then. Even if you nitpick and argue that number he still would command way over $150mil. 5/$150mil would be the minimum. Though I think it would likely take more in the neighborhood of 5/$175mil if he was looking to sign an extension. I wouldn't ever sign him to an extension, but just throwing out what it may take. I would have to think you would have to get it done this offseason. If he has another MVP type year that leaves only two years between him and FA. At that point the risk really starts shrinking bigtime on his end. He could have a down year or an injury year and still get a massive payday.

  15. Are people seriously ganging up on someone cause they said there is no chance Yelich will win the MVP this year? I mean he isn't...and it won't be very close. I don't think that is being a negative Nellie...I think that is just understanding how the MVP voting system works. Sure he didn't really provide anything past his statement, but welcome to BrewerFan.net...that isn't very uncommon.
  16. They have talent and are a good team...what they aren't is really good. They can easily fall into a slump as whole and lose a number of games. People are looking at that series like it is some horror movie. Which just dumbfounds me...it isn't the Dodgers. It is a team of very similar talent level. I don't think we win the division, but they certainly could. I am not sure we have it in us to gain another 3.5 games on them...but hey, I won't lose total hope. We put together the crazy winning streak to even get back into the conversation. One thing I said about this team before September was they aren't built to go on a big winning streak...and to be honest they are not. However, put enough crappy teams on the schedule and have things go your way and anything can happen.
  17. He will be 31 in his first year in a new contact...I mean...that isn't much of a risk. He will also make $50mil before he hits FA, so he already is set for life. He seems like a guy more than will to sign an extension early, but he is locked in as one of the best in the game. Even a slight "discount" is not going to be cheap. We won't get the giant discount to make it affordable.
  18. Your title doesn't match the argument. Really thought out and great info...however the voters won't care. And there is no shot at him winning now. I think a lot of polls had Yelich as a 33% share of 1st place votes...and Bellinnger with the other 2/3. It really wasn't close before the injury so it would have taken quite an ending to make him win. Probably another unbelievable division title as he carried us. I like what you said and agree he was the MVP before the injury, but to say he might still win is not really accurate.
  19. I think the D Backs have completely fallen off the rail. They are on loss #5 in a row.
  20. I would do it for other teams too...I would rather help the pitching out.
  21. If you went back 2 years, told me all the former Brewers on the 2019 Marlins, and said Garrett Cooper would be the best by miles I would probably question your time traveling ability.
  22. Not to be that guy, but I don't care who we use as long as we have more points at the end of the game. If we use Hader and he closes out the win I will be doing back flips. Not going to be all that sad he isn't available till Sunday or whatever. We may win by so much this weekend he will never be required anyway. Or...the opposite of that...but point is. Win!!! yay
  23. Sweet! Yelich won't even have to run the bases hitting postseason bombs! Just swing!
