  1. I'm no Perez guy but he's not the worst insurance policy now that 2b and 3b should be covered. solid D and mediocre hitting. yea there's better options but thats not the worst. Just hope arcia can get to 250 type basic mediocrity I was hoping for something closer to a deserving regular as a backup option. Yah, Perez isn’t bad...but do we really want him starting daily if Arcia sucks? Arcia needs to do more than hit .250...he needs to show a little power.
  2. Shall be interesting to see what we do at SS this winter. Even if we go with Arcia as the main guy we need a better back-up plan if he continues to be terrible at the plate.
  3. Francisco Rodriguez, and 4 others who needed legal advice! in addition to Yovani... likely Braun.... theres 3 haha Jeffress
  4. You can't underestimate how many Wisconsinites are Cub fans, too. There are a lot. Miller Park tickets are easier to score than Wrigley tickets as well. Like I said, it is a little embarrassing. There are many reasons it’s betteento come here vs. Wrigley (actually a lot). However, Brewer fans hardcore sell/avoid these games. For legitimate reasons, but it looks a tad pathetic.
  5. The Cubs play in a city that has literally over 6x the times the population of Milwaukee and is only 90 minutes away (less for people on the far north side). This is not embarrassing it's geography. It’s a little embrrassing that out fan base prefers to sell out instead of go to the game. I understand it and I don’t blame people, but pretty embarrassing.
  6. I know people will push this idea, but I don’t see why now they wil lsuddenly let him start. I just don’t see it. Losing him in the bullpen would be a bit crippling.
  7. Next 9 games are pretty big in my mind. 6-3 could solidify our postseason spot and put us back in the divisional race. Regardless 5-4 or better would be great at this point.
  8. A half year is only going to help you so much on the open market. More likely he gets a Chacin-like deal. Depending on the market he might get 3/$21ish. He could be a fantastic bargain like Chacin was. Jimmy Nelson will be healthy by the time next year starts. He is fairly healthy already. He will get his spot back...as far as what kind of addition he will be compared to this year...total mystery. I don’t think you can call him our TOR addition for next year. That’s a dream scenario. I just don’t see Davies ending up with a rotation spot...if he does, yikes. Not that he isn’t a nice pitcher, but we just have so many guys better than him. I already see four guys obviously better than him and I fully hope/expect they can bring in a really good pitcher to bolster our rotation. Maybe he surprises starting today and can have some momentum going into the offseason. He wouldn’t be a terrible guy to have stashed in the minors when injuries happen. A nice little luxury.
  9. Because his FIP is 5.28. He has benefitted a TON from the solid defense the Brewers put on the field this year. So what? A stat vastly inflated because he gives up a lot of homeruns. FIP doesn’t take into account Anderson’s stellar 7.3 H/9. He gets the job done and has pretty good stretches of pitching well. If you limit baserunners you can afford to give up some homers. It’s crazy to think people might suggest he needs to lose his spot in the rotation.
  10. Honestly I could see them trading Burnes as part of a package for a TOR starter and then bring in another cheap option to fill out the rotation. That being said: 1) Jimmy Nelson (obviously will get a rotation spot back) 2) Jhoulys Chacin (another obvious lock) 3) Chase Anderson (homeruns or not he is a solid starter) 4)Corbin Burnes (as it stands he will definitely get a spot) 5) Outside Addition I don’t think Freddy Peralta is getting a rotation spot. He is too young and shaky for them to depend on him an entire year in a playoff chase. Wouldn’t shock me at all if he is traded. After such a terrible second half (and shaky year in general) for the rotation I just can’t envision them trying to fill it out internally top to bottom. Some type of outside addition will be made and since we are already loaded with decent rotational arms a TOR makes too much sense.
  11. What are we shopping Arcia for? A bag of baseballs. Looks like overall he still is hitting terribly with the bat. Sad a hot streak for him is nudging his OPS over .600. I would be a bit surprised if they commit to moving on from him. Seems destined to be right back here. Hopefully we can get a nice utility player if/when he flops again. I’d hate to go into the season with Schoop/Arcia up the middle with little to back them up.
  12. I don’t try to look into strength of schedule too much, but wow do the D Backs have a absolutely miserable schedule. Other than playing divisional rivals COL and LAD...they have to play Houston, Atlanta, and Chicago! Outside of five San Diego games all their remaining games are playoff bound teams or ones on the brink.
  13. We were not out of the division three weeks ago....and still aren’t. A sweep would dramatically change things. If we are still 4+ out after we play them the final time...then yah, sure, then we are virtually screwed in the division.
  14. We will get to see the beauty of these other WC contenders playing each other today. The Dodgers and D Backs play eachother so if we win one team will stay 1.5 games back and the other will have to go back 2.5 games. The closer of the two will also take the lead in their division which is pretty meaningless to us. The Phillys are losing to the Cubs so far...a loss that would put them 4 games behind us in the standings pushing them really close to division or bust territory and an Atlanta win would make their entire outlook really dismal.
  15. I understand the frustration and I was fuming last night, but it'd be nice if the remainder of the bullpen could finish this out and we get them fully rested for the Cubs series. I don't have any illusions of catching the Cubs. They are way better than us. But we need to be at full strength to win that series. Yah, last nights loss sealed the deal in my opinion unless we play really well and find a way to sweep them. If not...no way.
  16. Thank god Jeffress and Hader can rest after pitching yesterday! Let’s keep this one wide open! We need to protect them! Once a week tops!
  17. If you divide Broxton WAR by game multiply that out for about 150 games I think he would cost a trillion dollars according to war.
  18. CC said he may be used out of the pen. Simple stall tactic waiting to see how Guerra does tonight. If/when he blows his fourth and final tire insert Gonzalez...the doughnut tire you are lucky to get home with. And man tough crowd for Anderson. Gonzalez has been worse lately by a few trips around the earth. Anderson gets a lot of hate for having a sub 4.00 ERA (season and the last two weeks). He is a pretty serviceable pitcher.
  19. So Jeffress can pitch 2 innings Day off 1 inning 1 inning But Hader can’t .2 innings 1 inning Day off .1 innings?!? They have the same amount of innings this year!!!!!!! Whoever is in charge of this usage logic is an idiot. That is beyond dumb.
  20. It had nothing to do with the typical 2+ innings for Hader so at least two days off. He only pitched an inning Thursday and the blow up on Wednesday. Counsell talks so much of doing everything he can when they have the chance to win (leading). Hader should be available and he didn’t use him. We needed one batter out of him...that was it. If he wasn’t available they need to reassess their plan.
  21. Just when I thought this team was turning a corner and fun to watch again, boom...fun flushed right back down the toilet.
  22. It won’t happen, but we need a new manager. Counsell flat out can’t manage a bullpen. How do we not use our best relievers when we are winning?! How do we consistently let games blow up and lose because we never have someone warming up Incase a pitcher gets into trouble. Why do we constantly throw Jennings out there when he has failed constantly over recent appearances? How does our best reliever hardly ever pitch for long stretches. His management costs us games all the time. Too much for a team with World Series aspirations. Too many boneheaded managerial decisions...too many that an average joe wouldn’t even make. It’s pathetic to watch. We need one out and we bring in Jennings instead of Hader. That’s scary how stupid that is.
  23. Haha what a joke, Counsell blowing it again. Why must we insist on using trash in situations we don’t have to? Sad.
