  1. How is this team not fun to watch? I also don't get the talk that this team isn't destined to do much in the post season. They just played really well against the best team in the NL and have completed well against others. Who is that much better than them? Cubs and I guess dodgers. No one else Didn’t say they weren’t fun to watch, just compared to the 2011 team they aren’t as fun to watch. This team feels like a bunch of guys piled together fighting to win games where as the 2011 was mainly intact the entire season. They were well known names and ended the season on an incredible run. Go look at the IGTs... this team just isn’t as fun to watch compared to what their record reflects. People are constantly frustrated and this team blows things often. Overall this team doesn’t bring that same fun/excitement level...it shows. You personally is a different story. Really this year any team could make it to the World Series. It would help people’s view if we didn’t have to play a one card play in game and then play the Cubs where there would be quite a disadvantage.
  2. That’s what you get when you can’t beat teams in a competitive division. The NL West has three postseason worthy squads. Not necessarily surprising that is the difference maker. They were swept by the Dodgers in 3 and swept by the D Backs in 4. They flat out couldn’t beat contending teams...so they aren’t contending.
  3. On an enjoyment level this team is incredibly low for their record. Their loses are often ugly due to various reasons and the wins are often not pretty either. This team also doesn’t tend to have nice winning streaks of fun baseball. This team in an impressive collection of guys winning a lot more games than you would expect. That being said they don’t really look like a team destinedfor much postseason success. I love watching a nice winning season, but compared to 2011 this team is not as fun to watch by a mile.
  4. They would have to lose 7+ in a row...heck probably even more to even be in a position to be out of it. At that point you got like 14 games, if that? What would be the point?
  5. I really don't care who wins those games. You could probably make a case for the Dodgers winning being better as they likely still have better odds of winning the division. Neither is really a bad outcome. We don’t want the Dodgers to win. We want them to miss the postseason. Kershaw in the WC game against us? RIP. You are right that they benefit us regardless, but the Dodgers losing is a better deal. Ideally we would want the team that is already leading the division to win and knock the WC chaser into the oblivion. I’d rather the Dodgers now be 3.5 out instead of the Rockies 2 out and the Dodgers 2.5 out.
  6. That’s a huge hit. If only the Rockies could make a comeback.
  7. No reason to be mad, outside of the walks Holland has been pretty nasty and hitting his spots.
  8. I saw a graphic on the bottom of the screen and saw Gallardo was 8-3 this year. Had to go check out his impressive stats...except he wasn’t impressive. 5+ ERA, lots of hits, lots of homers, and almost no Ks. Averages 8.5 runs of support per game. Modern day Braden Looper.
  9. I will never understand the logic they use when it comes to rain. We have played in total downpours three times this year...all predictable disasters. One of the games we blew it and in another they were trying to finish a half inning that was totally meaningless to finish in the event the game couldn’t continue.
  10. Random thought with the off day Thursday. After August 9th they only played on Thursday ONE time.
  11. Anderson’s velocity just isn’t there. I’m sick of the homers, but even then he is about to complete 5 innings of 2 run ball. Hopefully has a clean 6th to boot. Homers or not he has been solid.
  12. GameDay has the first pitch to Aguilar in the Brewers dugout.
  13. I think it’s hilarious that you picked the 14-day stat and ignored the others. Ryan Braun feeds off of your hate. I don’t hate Braun, false.
  14. Ryan Braun forever, even if he is hitting .194 and has an OPS well below .500 in the last two week. Cause who doesn’t love that. Sure would be nice for a hit streak showing up.
  15. I would have found it weird a week ago when we were within a game of like 6 teams. It makes more sense now that we've pulled away significantly from the Phillies and are 2 games ahead of the NL West crowd. Pretty sure in like 2014 we started it before the AS break...it was stupidly early.
  16. Seeing as our magic number is like 20...no
  17. Oh, that explains why Hader can't pitch to a single batter. Not saying you are wrong, but every MLB team would think you are wrong. To throw 6 pitches takes ramping up in the bullpen to prepare.
  18. I would think the Cardinals would want us to win the division if given the chance. If it is an incredible longshot for us to win the division (need a sweep and the Cardinals to sweep) they probably aren't going to try and push the Cubs out of the division lead that hard. However, I would bet they would still have a lot to play for when it comes to the WC regardless anyway. I doubt they build a 3 game lead in the 2nd WC position before they even start their series with the Cards...depends on when their ace is set to pitch in that series. That is the only guy you likely avoid using. I mean think about it. You would much rather try to beat the Cubs in one game vs. trying to win a 5 game series against them. You'd want to play the better team in a one game playoff where the result is quite a crapshoot. In a five game series the results are less random, the better team has much better odds to come out on top then.
  19. Patrick Corbin hasn't really put it together before this season so that should nerf his demands a tad. Couple that with his age and maybe it is attractive enough for the Brewers to take the risk. Looking at his advanced stats I don't even know how he has an ERA over 3...he is incredible across the board. Its a dream...probably nothing more. I expect the Brewers to be connected to him a ton similar to Darvish. I would love the Brewers to take the risk to be honest. By the time he ever gets old and declines we probably suck and won't care. The incredible improvement across the board this year is a little scary though...that is one big decline if he reverts back to his old self.
  20. One goal for the next week, do better than the Dodgers and D Backs. If we do that our postseason ticket will be almost assured. The Dodgers are back 2.5 games and the D Backs are 3.5 games back. After the Cubs series only 15 games will remain for us, 16 games for the Dodgers, and 16 games for the D Backs. Lets say we gain a game on each of those teams. If we are nice and assume they both win on the 13th (both road games against postseason hopefuls) this is what they will need to do just to catch us. Brewers: 7-8 or 8-7 Dodgers: 10-6 or 11-5 D Backs: 11-5 or 12-4 And it isn't going to be easy for these teams to dominate the rest of their schedule without helping us at the same time. The Dodgers have to play all of the Cardinals, Rockies, and Arizona still...and obviously Arizona still faces their two divisional opponents too. Not many scenarios where we go around .500 and don't nab one of those two spots.
  21. Another thought: The Angels have arguably the two most exciting players in baseball...and are wasting both. Wow
  22. I’ve seen the idea floated around by some writers...and I completely agree. Regardless of the injuries and not playing a full season his stats are incredible. Ohtani has done something we simply don’t see in this game, he is a dang unicorn. 155 OPS+ and at the same time put up ace-like stats when he pitched. Not only did he do both at an MLB level...he excelled. This is one of the more incredible things we have seen period, let alone a foreign rookie who never played this kind of talent in the past. He may not win, but in my opinion he should. What he has done should be noticed. Other people’s thoughts?
