  1. “Inclement weather, but only if the game is stopped in the middle of an inning in which the visiting team has taken the lead, except during the postseason“ There are other reasons, but this is what you care about.
  2. The complaining was before he decided to stop hitting like a pitcher. It was well deserved. But as you said, it is fine...not really that good...just fine. It would be preferable if we got more out of Arcia though if Pina is going to hit low .700s
  3. Nelson, Davies, Anderson (let’s just go with him), Peralta, and Burnes. Do we ever actually want to compete? Nelson is a total mystery, Davies moving forward is highly questionable, Anderson is just solid, Peralta...yikes, and Burnes should be decent. I’d bet that rotation is no better than the current one. I’d probably bet worse.
  4. No, what he is doing now doesn’t matter (since the AS break). It is what he is going to do in the future, that right there folks is what matters.
  5. “I don’t need to go to the TitleTown district to voice an opinion.” No, but you should probably learn what it actually is because it is about as far from a mall as you can get. It is mostly activity areas for children for all seasons (they charge for some stuff from what I have heard). It also features a brewery and a hotel. Long term it is expected to also include offices, townhomes, and some entertainment/retail. Hardly a mall.
  6. Correct, he was out regardless.
  7. Bonifacio won’t get a meaningful AB so it is irrelevant. He is purely a PR.
  8. That isn’t an accurate way at all to rank him. First of all those rankings after #30 depend on someone ranking them Top 30. We all could agree KJ is #33, but he is going to be ranking #100 because no one thought he was a Top 30 guy. You are also depending on sketchy prospect knowledge that far out even if we tried it. Some people voting even admit they just look at stats real quick and make a list up. To think we, as a group, can effectively rank past #30 is pushing it. Our list didn’t have him Top 30, that is true. We don’t really know past that though. Clancy used to nearly be able to put a guy in the Top 30 by himself.
  9. If the Cubs go 14-14 to end it (93-69) we would have to go 17-10 just to catch them. So take that as you please. It’s not hard to imagine them going 12-16 if they have rough stretches though. On a brighter note while the Cards keep winning we are keeping the pressure on in the #1 WC race just a .5 game back. Our winning ways have started to create separation in the WC card race on the other end. If you think our chances in the division are terrible you will be happy to know our elimination number in the division (24) is almost the same as the three teams that trail us in the wildcard (25).
  10. Granderson has put up a solid line...can’t say Broxton can do the same. I’m not really thrilled giving up Demi (a decent prospect) for a one month rental. I appreciate Stearns continuing to give this team a shot. Hope it turns into excitement in the postseason.
  11. You said walk off grand slams are cool, not that you were worried. Probably should word your post better.
  12. I know a lot don’t want to cheer for the Cubs, but if we and the Cubs do well in our series we could squash the Phillies playoff hopes real fast in the WC.
  13. Meh, I guess we will see how it goes. The prospects aren’t the biggest loss/risk here. If we stick him in the rotation and he bombs that’s a big fail.
  14. From what I recall, the trade simply needs to occur before 11:59 PM ET Welcome!
  15. Philly is not playoff bound...they are actually a solid 3 games out.
  16. I believe self defense is a legitimate argument in some cases. I remember it being a huge issue in that infamous Stanton HBP game. The batter who came to finish his AB started a swing and continued it in what one might interpret as trying to defend his face from a baseball coming at him. He was called out, but people were upset about it cause they didn’t think he was defending himself. I’m not sure if there is a rule for sure, but I remember the defense swing coming up around that situation.
  17. You didn’t read his posts intent right. He is saying if that ball would have been in the strike zone and he did the same bunt attempt would the umpire have called that a strike? The answer is likely no...almost definitely no. So it wasn’t a bunt attempt by that logic.
  18. They would need to go on a big run, that is a given. I won’t say they have to win all their series against the Cubs, but not doing so would make things pretty impossible unless we turn into the best NL team the rest of the way and the Cubs struggle a lot.
  19. Ryan Braun and Prince Fielder combined for 12.9 in 2009. Lorenzo Cain and Christian Yelich are at 11.8. That includes EVERYTHING, not just offense. Anything else is before my time so someone else would have to chime in.
  20. Betancourt seems the logical choice, better defense.
  21. Part of me wonders if Braun signed his super friendly deals partly as insurance, not against injury/decline, but against getting caught doing steroids. It sounds like these guys doing steroids end up being self conscious about everything related to it and their ability. If he got caught not only does that hurt his value, but his confidence too if he has to stop the steroids. It is a bit interesting he was so quick to sign a big contract right away and again years later. Oh what I would do to be a fly on the wall to these players doing steroid and the ones that get caught. Such a shady hidden spot in the sport.
