I never understand this, is the cost of kids less than that of a tax credit/break? Very far from it...

I mean, his explanation of events was pretty simple and straight forward. Packers said they wanted him back right after season ended (makes sense as that is what they told the media). A few weeks later the tone seemed to change (which media reports also reported the same way) and the Packers wanted him gone. Rodgers says alright, well I want to play for the Jets then. He then claims the Packers are the ones holding it up at this point, which quite a few reports said before he went on the podcast. He claims this would have gone down years ago had he not had back to back MVP years, which I’m not sure anyone is really going to deny. They probably didn’t draft love expecting MVP seasons coming up nor wanted to wait till his 4th year for him to start. I suppose it is possible Rodgers made a bunch of crazy demands to stay and that is why the tone changed…not just to Packers taking time and realizing they wanted to move on. Nothing really points to that though.

The fact people care about whether Rodgers was vaccinated or the fact he used weird wording to deflect the question is pretty weird. I find it somewhat ironic people are going to whine about Rodgers still talking about the Packers drafting Love and so many are still stuck/offended by him saying the word ‘immunized’. I just care that he is good at football. When they drafted Love I thought he still had plenty in the tank. However, while I think he has a few good years left, I don’t think it will be consistent like most QB that make it to his age. So with that, I am fine with them moving on. Rodgers gets to go play for a team with a better defense than he has had 90% of his career and we can look to the future as we just can’t build a great team in the short term anymore. I guess we will see what Love is all about. Hopefully he is the answer, but if not, hopefully we can unload the bandwagon fans that have become absolutely embarrassing and insufferable over the years. That would be the one positive to a rebuild and down years.

I mean there is not much rush. If the highest pick we are getting is a third rounder I would just twiddle my thumbs and wait. Maybe if the offer is this year's 2nd I might get a little nervous...but past that, meh, I can't see rushing to do the Jets any favors.

You know, I used to feel bad for Jordan Love. I have now realized the dude has made millions and since he is in his 4th year, unless he looks absolutely atrocious, his second prove it year will be the massive $20mil 5th year option. Considering that, this is almost perfect timing if he ends up not be a relevant starter. EDIT: Actually, don't they have to pick that up before this year starts? So he will make $20mil next year before proving anything on the field.

Rodgers is just one of those player treatment defenders, much like Corbin Burnes whining about his arby hearing. They aren't necessarily logical competitive points.

If he wanted to do that, he would have done a much better job. This seems like a stretch.

Not to mention Rodgers has an MVP award 2/3 of the last three years. 2/3 of Favre's last three years before that trade he looked like garbage not worthy to even be a back-up.

The Packers fanbase is embarrassing. Any time I am in public and someone wants to talk about the Packers I want to find the nearest exit.

That is an assumption, that could easily be wrong. Like most, I assume he will say something...but this would be really far from the first time he went on that show and everyone thought he was going to say something big, just to not. Also, at most, I am guessing all he can really do is say he wants to play for them. There is probably more layers to complete in this trade. 'The Decision' wasn't just announcing it himself. Dude got a full set, announced it well in advance, put it on ESPN, and had a really creepy/cringe interview before even announcing it. The comparison is like comparing a gourmet steak and lobster dinner to a lunchables.

It is just probably best for both sides to move on. I thought Rodgers would retire a Packer, but the franchise just became way too incompetent. Ted Thompson did a good job sucking at the helm and the current GM/coach aren't that great either. Though I will say the GM/coach change helped us from this trainwreck from happening half a decade ago, they just haven't done great either. All that investment in the defense for little results and no investment in WRs sure became a glaring problem some of the last few years. Had Rodgers not won some MVP awards while carrying the team, he would have probably been gone the first time he could not stand the FO anymore. Then the FO decided to do anything to make him happy. If the Jets defense is legit and is similar next year, it is likely to be only the forth time in Rodger's career he had a Top 10 defense by points allowed standards. The other years were 2019 and 2008/2009. Would have been nice to manage just a few of those over the years.

Did anyone not think this announcement was going to come on the podcast. He is on it weekly during the season and is really good pals with Pat. Better that than some annoying reporter who is wrong more than the weatherman. As long as you don't do what LeBron did the one time

In one thread I had calculated the WAR the Marlins got out of this trade. It was negative....yikes. This has to be in the running for worst trade in modern baseball history for an established MLB player. They would have been better off releasing Yelich.

They wouldn't make it free unless you honestly believed it would cause that many more people to watch and spend money. Additionally, I don't see any reason to only have a subscription plan. MLS is doing it...but how many people watch MLS? Just too many games to sit there and pay to have them all televised on TV...thus having some cheap subscription makes it possible to actually make them all watchable. MLB doesn't have that problem. Tens of thousands tune in to every single game.

There are plenty of ways to watch the Brewers. It literally isn't that hard if you want the games. Cable is an option, which again, almost anyone can get. If that doesn't work there is indeed Direct TV. If you wanted streaming there was ATT. Though their entire concept felt like cable. This is still ignoring the fact that there is a subscription service to watch the Brewers for $15 or $20. That you could pair with anything your heart desires and was month to month. You could have had FuboTV last year plus the Bally subscription for the same price as FuboTV with the price hike and RSN fee. Streaming options are better for the consumer. However, even better for streaming services is to keep their prices $20 cheaper by not carrying non football sports. Thats why they all dropped them. It wasn't worth the $20 price hike that FuboTV is doing. Most households do not care about RSNs.

This is exactly the problem with wanting a QB that legitimately could retire and not mind. You are going to go get the players he wants or he will just go chill at home. I didn't really find a problem with it when he did it to the Packers. End of the day the Jets can only blame themselves if it ends up badly. Their choice to get Rodgers and their choice to go sign all of those guys. If Rodgers doesn't have some buddies, he ain't going to play...that is his prerogative. I think the Jets are pretty dumb to go along with this though.

This was never going to be quick. All the different teams had to decide if they wanted to pursue him, pursue other options, see what every option costed, etc etc etc. Even when the final option comes to be, the Jets, a lot of pieces to figure out. Money issues, draft compensation, player compensation. What if Rodgers needs to play with Bahk and the Jets don’t want him. What if he requires the Jets to go get Lazard? Possible they have to wait for FA to start so the Jets can make sure they can get some player Rodgers wants on offense. There is no way Rodgers is dragging his feet to spite the Packers, that I would be confident in.

Rodgers will hold up the QB market. Any Plan B is unlikely to move until Rodgers does something.
