  1. Likely so, they would probably want the AAA team as their own if it stays. All jokes aside, if/when expansion comes, Oakland would be a relevant option for a AAA team. Nashville MLB team gets Nashville AAA team, SanFran creates the new AAA team in Oakland, and then Brewers get Sacramento (current Giants AAA team). I mean who knows what happens when that time comes. MiLB baseball is a weird landscape these days. Also, whether a city has a current team/stadium isn't going to matter a ton. The Mallards stadium is likely so far below AAA standards any renovation might as well be a brand new stadium cost wise. While it seems to have the space to house enough fans, the seating options may not be up to par and the facilities are probably way below standards. The Saint Paul Saints jumped into affiliated ball as a AAA team, but make no mistake, they had a near $100mil ballpark that was just built.
  2. I am sticking to Bally Sports and YoutubeTV combined, it is basically the same cost combined. Then I can keep my interface for TV consistently the same. I would rather unsubscribe from Bally+ in October and then resubscribe come April, that is it...no other fumbling around all year. Of course, I am not a channel flipper...so Samari's love of the back button to the most recent channel is meaningless to someone like me.
  3. #1 I don't smoke. #2 My comment had literally nothing to do with the Mallards attendance or their ability to attract enough fans. The Brewers don't own the Mallards, my reference was to the Brewers attendance. The Brewers don't benefit from the Mallards turning into the AAA team. If they owned the AAA, maybe they wouldn't care as much, but they don't have any financial interest in the Sounds. Also, the Mallards schedule consists of 58 games and only 28 home games. All of those games take place in the summer when school is out and the weather is warm. Double the amount of games you have to convince people to come out to and play during April/mid August+...that will plummet overall attendance averages. Also, while Mallards are fairly expensive for summer ball (I think), it is much much cheaper than AAA baseball is. Average Nashville Sounds game is about $45. You can get all you can eat food and beer for that price at a Mallards game. Minimum price for a Mallards game is $6, Nashville appears to be about $15. There are probably better locations to shift the AAA team to. I am sure the Mallards could still easily average 3k+, which is what a lot of teams pull in. At face value it could work on the Sounds side, but I just don't see the Brewers going for it themselves. On another note, to those pondering AA Biloxi flipping to AAA...I doubt it. They consistently flirt with the worst attendance in AA. If we were going to flip the AAA team to a current affiliate, it would be Wisconsin. They drew 50% more than Biloxi last year and actually cracked 3k average. With a AAA team in Indiana/Iowa/Minnesota it wouldn't be farfetched geographically. I don't think it would happen, but if you were picking a current affiliate, it is the only logical one in my opinion.
  4. Considering the Brewers talk about the importance of attendance to the bottom line...I am guessing the odds they want their AAA team in Madison is somewhere close to 0%. I would be willing to bet the Nashville Sounds would stay right where they are. I am guessing a large part of the AAA team staying in Las Vegas is the fact they have a nearly brand new stadium they just built. I suppose the Sounds stadium might be considered old enough by the time a team would move there in the 2030's...but I am not so sure.
  5. Yes...still a public slave though. 🤣
  6. Oakland was always consider a pile of crap anyway, so no, nothing probably changes in their case.
  7. I’d argue Ryan Braun was still a more feared hitter to face. Why? Because his entire elite prime, you couldn’t avoid him. Not only were you facing an MVP caliber player, but in the on deck circle was a huge power hitting MVP caliber player himself. You could avoid Fielder, but you had no choice and had to face Braun. Braun had 9 IBB in his career prior to 2012…15 in 2012 after Fielder was gone.
  8. They don't care, someone literally said they don't need pro sports to have an identity. Should be interesting to see how that goes for them. Why does anyone go to Oakland other than a sporting event?
  9. My guy, at least post in the correct thread.
  10. Well, hopefully he starts hitting...because he is setting a really low hurdle to clear.
  11. Crowds don't matter. A third of MLB flirts with 20k a game...the A's failed to even crack 10k last year. No city without an MLB team right now is some obvious attendance monster. Any city is going to be questionable to actually show up to the stadium for a relocated team. The Las Vegas Aviators have been one of the best teams in attendance for years. So people will go watch baseball there.
  12. -Yes -99% sure, Yes -10 screens on your home network and I believe 3 devices mobile. Please note those 10 devices are on a single home network you designate as such. The 3 mobile devices cannot be TV platform devices. So password sharing is not feasible as some of the other streaming services are. I mean....I am sure if there is a will, there is probably a way. Like connecting a laptop via HDMI cord. However, that may not be even possible, as some services have ways to detect and block screen sharing like that.
  13. I acknowledged this. I didn't say they should all be demoted. Wiemer is the only one worthy of a demotion, if Taylor was healthy. The difference is veteran's have proven track records of being good. A rookie has no track record. When Adames starts struggling you know he will eventually look good again. These rookies start's may have been a blip and one (or multiple) may be in for a very rough year. A lot of our season hinges on these guys being competent bats. Their defense/baserunning is great and all, but they are 33% of our lineup. Being really poor hitters isn't going to make that worth it. If you want an elite defender that can't hit (especially in the OF) there are dozens of guys in the minors worth nothing that can do that for you. Them all being absolutely horrendous lately is concerning, that is all.
  14. Hasn't been good so far, but going into the year it was definitely in the same realm as the Brewers. They don't have the elite talent at the front of the rotation, but even old Wainwright and Mikolas are a solid front end. Montgomery isn't as flashy as Peralta, but results wise I think he is close. Flaherty is a decent back-end guy if he can stay healthy. Their #5 spot is a total trainwreck though and their rotation is going to get very rough with any kind of injuries. I think I would much rather have their bullpen. Their rotation lacks the depth, but it also has some big question marks. Wainwright actually pitching to a high level is questionable with his age and Mikolas has been a bit inconsistent in his career. Things will eventually correct themselves. I think they still have a pretty solid team. They aren't a force in any facet...but they have enough pieces to win some games. We are acting all high and mighty now, but over the long run not having Woodruff is going to catch up to us. We also have kept winning and it has masked the fact the rookie hitters have quickly started circling the drain from their hot starts. Wiemer is absolutely terrible, Mitchell is striking out at an insane pace, and Turang has been no better. Turang's homer is his only XBH since like the fourth game, Mitchell hasn't seen an XBH since the 9th, and Wiemer has a single hit since the 8th. That is pretty concerning. Everyone has hot/cold streaks...but seeing it out of rookies isn't a great look.
  15. Going to be hard pressed for Frelick to get the call when he hasn't hit well at AAA.
  16. The Cardinals lost 8-7, largely thanks to Nick Ahmed roping this pitch for a 2-run double instead of striking out. The next batter then smoked a 3-run homer.
  17. Yah, the Jets getting cold feet over this doesn't make sense. Rodgers has been on the fence for a few years now...him saying that, whether true or glorified, isn't shocking at all. Regardless of how his first year goes with the Jets, next offseason is going to be similar. I don't know why the Jets would think Rodgers would come to New York and be 100% sold on multiple seasons and Rodger's not contemplating retirement. Even if you don't think he will retire, there is no assurance he won't demand out of New York after a year.
  18. To be fair, I am pretty sure it was Clancy that wanted to give Hernan Perez tens of millions. After we dumped Perez he managed 27 PAs and hasn’t played since 2021. Wanting to extend middling guys is kind of his thing. Houser is nice…but the more expensive he gets, he becomes pretty worthless. I think his value is underrated, but I wouldn’t want to start commuting multiple years to him.
  19. Just trot guys out there and see what sticks. Kind of hard to make a plan when you have no idea who is going to produce and keep it up. I would argue Wiemer was the best looking rookie out of the gate with only two K's and three BB's through his first eight games. The tides have turned though and hasn't recorded a hit since and has eight K's along the way. Poor guy looks completely lost now. Mitchell won't keep it up either if he continues nightly multi-strikeout games.
  20. You don't, they won't give you anything useful.
  21. What the Braves wanted why they did it was simple. Contreras and Murphy both looked good offensively, but Murphy also grades out as one of the best defensive catchers in the game. They want to win now while their core is going through their prime. They probably figured Murphy would be better for the pitching staff too. As good as his pitching framing seemingly is so far, Contreras made two little league errors in the same game (now 3 errors in 69 innings). Overthrowing 2B and catcher's interference. The front office gets a lot of credit for seemingly planning for some of these new rules the past few years, but I can't say a 14% caught stealing catcher was a good recipe for success with bigger bases. That isn't to say this move won't work out incredibly well for the Brewers...just why the Braves decided to sell high on Contreras.
  22. It is finally here. The year we dominate to the deadline, go big at the deadline, and then confetti falls from the rafters in late October. Dodgers in the NLCS and then the Brewers spoil the Astros repeat bid in just five games.
  23. I ponder what having elite starters does to benefit a guy in the pitch framing world. On one hand the pitches are nastier and would lead you to believe they are harder to frame for calls...but on the other hand a feel like the nasty breaking makes it more believable that a ball is being caught out of the strike zone. Maybe why it feels like elite starters always seem to get calls. For instance, that first pitch isn't really framed all that well. However, Peralta's arm angle and the wicked break on that pitch you wouldn't expect the catcher to be catching that anywhere near over the plate. The third pitch is pretty textbook modern framing though. Pretty popular for catchers to swipe their glove through the zone while catching the ball these days. What he did on the first pitch used to be pretty effective, but not so as much anymore. Probably because umps assume you are trying to deceive them versus 'helping them'.
  24. My mind said he reminded me of a former Phillies OFer: Shane Victorino. Which seems like a good comp, if his batting average comes down to earth against MLB pitching.
