  1. This is exactly why I never understand why people freak out when the market drops. What percent of people rely on the day to day fluctuations of the market? .5%, maybe? I guess the media needs to whip people into a frenzy about something for ratings and clicks. People freak out because they don’t really understand the stock market and don’t understand their retirement plan(401k etc). They don’t understand the short term is rather meaningless. Some people check their retirements plans way too often. It is really nothing more than that.
  2. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the signing team loses a pick as long as it's more than a 1 year deal. The team losing the player only gets a pick if the deal is $50 million or more. I have no idea where you got that information, but no. You lose a pick if the player declines a qualifying offer. A player must be with a team the entire year to be eligible to get offered one. Yu Darvish was traded mid-season which meant the Dodgers could not give him a qualifying offer.
  3. Did you guys honestly let some wannabe forum heroes run off the guy who was willing to toss some inside info our way? It's a shame. He was the only reason I signed up for these forums. Your mods let you all down. The only people ruining anything at this point are the ones who keep complaining about HH19 in random threads. Unless the mods decide to open up a thread to complain about it stop talking about it.
  4. I think you need a better example. Ichiro is a slap hitting all contact player. I’d expect someone like that to age really well. But who know maybe I am wrong.
  5. That thread is gone why are you posting here to ruin another thread. Feel free to PM me and I will be happy to talk about this topic with you.
  6. Have to attempt to get one after the season.
  7. Well that is unfortunate for him and he has a right to leave if people questioned him. It is no different then people calling out my opinion on Archer, wanting to sign Darvish, or anything else. I’m not going to refrain myself from speaking to not offend someone cause I don’t agree with them or something they said is questionable. If people calling you out or disagreeing with your opinion is a problem a forum is probably not the place for you. I was skeptical and questioned him in a respectful way and respected people who didn’t. That’s my right on a forum and what it is all about.
  8. I’d like to see some of these “He is a liar” posts. Being skeptical and questioning him is not calling him a liar. Entirely different.
  9. You didn't question his information though. You just made a smart remark towards him. What good does something like that do? Ohhhhh, you got him. He didn't give us any new "news". Congrats man. Oh sure I could have explained in more detail, but you really think that would matter? Yah, I don’t think so personally. He doesn’t like when people question him nor do a lot of other people.
  10. I’ve have more thoughts on this that I will post if this thread isn’t locked before, but one thing: It is ridiculous it isn’t okay to question HH19’s information etc. when every day on here we constantly nitpick and question rumors from people who’s jobs are to find inside info and we know 100% they are a legitimate person to get info from. We call out those rumors if they don’t make sense. If HH19 says something that is questionable or doesn’t make sense he better be ready for skepticism too. If you want to believe everything he says and not question it, fine. If you trust him 100% no matter what, fine. I applaud you for doing what you want...I will do the same while respecting your opinion.
  11. Was a little busy last night and wasn’t here for the 9pm announcement. Glad to see I literally missed nothing.
  12. The Ertz TD wasn't even close to being questionable and anyone trying to compare it to the play by the Steeler in the regular season is an idiot. I had enough social media for the night after scrolling through Twitter for 5 minutes.
  13. No, not all of us people. I don't overvalue prospects and I wouldn't trade Burnes/Phillips/Santana+ for Chris Archer. Not sure who he gives so much value to, but I don't think it is us. The loss of Santana is worth at least 2 WAR on offense, I believe Burnes makes a decent impact next year so we lose value there, and losing both Phillips/Santana together is a huge hit when a OFer goes down. Add in the increase in payroll Archer brings what exactly are we gaining? I don't even know if Archer has a big positive impact next year and every year after I don't think it will trend up. Chris Archer is a terrible target. Not a big impact, but a big impact on what we give up with most of it potentially on the MLB team or MLB ready? Of course I am going off a rumored "what it will take". If it involves lower in the farm guys it changes things a lot. However we are talking about a lot of guys who are already helping us or that will early into the time we would control Archer. That kind of trade seems primed as something we will regret.
  14. Why are you guys arguing over some set of data that even if you figure it out has absolutely nothing to do with Chris Archer because he isn't a Top 10 starter by a mile.
  15. That seems backwards because there are many more good pitchers available in free agency. If it's as fair as the Yelich trade, the Brewers should absolutely jump at the chance. The starting pitchers available in trade aren't nearly as appealing as Realmuto as core pieces for the window the Brewers are building. Also, this isn't like basketball where having more good scorers can lead to diminishing returns. You can basically add just as many expected wins by adding .5 runs per game as you can by giving up .5 runs fewer. (There are some nuances like the variance in runs being higher with better offense and pitching, but it's still an adequate rule of thumb.) You could argue that you need pitching for the playoffs, but that's been a bit of a myth. You just need to outscore the other team, just like in the regular season. Pitching depth and elite bullpens can really excel in the postseason. That is because of all the off days allowing you to constantly switch pitchers creating large problems for even good offenses. I wouldn't trade for Archer for what it is worth and I wouldn't trade for Realmuto. I think both are a big waste of prospect resources right now. I would sign a FA pitcher though. Something may become available in July or next offseason that are a much better use of the farm.
  16. We can sign a FA then. If we are going to purge the farm we need a really good pitcher. We don’t need really good hitters at every single position, so me can be meh. We will need pitching and prospects left for mid season acquisitions. Realmuto would be a terrible trade.
  17. Sorry, but the whole he doesn’t want to be here so STAY AWAY thing is a bit out there. Never hope for a FA ever again because if you think we are ever the preferred destination you are sadly mistaken. Also better never want to trade for anyone or draft them...because they will prefer to be somewhere else.
  18. It was reported in the last week some in the front office really didn’t want to bring him back due to the World Series showing. If Darvish struggles overall or in a playoff series that fan base will destroy him.
  19. I just looked through an entire year of tweets and I didn’t find anything bad. I’m pretty sure I have heard worse things from 90% of members here. Everyone can drop his political tweeting though. If you honestly think his tweets are a big deal you are getting way too emotionally involved with something that has nothing to do with throwing a baseball.
  20. Every new memeber needs to check out the forum rules and keep their political garbage out of here. Gag
  21. The Brewers are not trading assets for more offense. We now need pitching.
  22. It shouldn’t. How many times doesn’t it need to be said how worthless GM comments can and usually are. Here is another quotes in Haudricourt’s full article that speaks how much of a non story and non meaningful comment it was: "If the right opportunity presents itself, we are open to acting," Stearns said. "But we have a high level of confidence in our current group, so it needs to be the right opportunity." At the current prices we are going into spring training with this group essentially. Maybe the prices come down, maybe they don’t. Stearns said nothing meaningful.
  23. Haudricourt asking Stearns a question. Garbage. Stearns isn’t going to show his hand. He isn’t going to give us insider info etc. Haudricourt is worthless for rumors and inside info.
  24. No they wouldn’t, that is being a bit extreme. Arcia, Yelich, Knebel, Nelson, and Anderson/Shaw. Telling me they keep him over that? Yah...nah.
  25. Expect if things fall off after two years there is one buffer year to find out that happened. If that happens that means most guys fell off the cliff and you are happy if two of those guys hold the massive value you are inferring to(Gomez/Lucroy are an example). Good luck having another quick rebuild like this though. That shouldn’t be considered a norm. Bottom line they need to draft better. That is the biggest long term concern. We can always replenish a farm trading off the MLB team. Let’s see if we can have a strong farm without killing every useful MLB level asset. Because we got lucky this time having such a short rebuild.
