    Clancy I know you like Suter and all, but the Brewers did not make big time additions to have Suter have any type of rotation spot. He did well because teams weren’t used to him and the Brewers babied him in his starts. Outside of 3 or so occasions(none in his last 8 or so starts) did the Brewers let him finish 6 innings. We aren’t putting a guy in the rotation who throws 5 or less innings...ever. He is not a guy you are giving 30 starts to...he shouldn’t even have 15 starts. He is a swing guy to help in injury situations for short periods of time. Nothing wrong with that...valuable role.

    They better not trade Knebel. Everyone talks about how we don’t have the starting rotation to win a World Series. We you also need elite pen arms and especially if we don’t have elite starters. Knebel/Hader would quite possibly be the worst people to even think about trading. They are what should give us an amazing bullpen that’s going to win us a lot of games.

    We gave Ryan Braun 5/$100mil so I don’t find throwing around 5/$120mil that crazy of a concept. Even slightly more than that isn’t that hard to believe. I think we are looking at $130mil or do as a realistic payroll in a few years with a new TV deal. I see Attanasio sticking at more like $115mil though. That is probably where we max out. You are in a fantasy land if you think the Brewers will ever blow up the payroll to 75% of revenue though....don’t hold your breath.

    Just so everyone knows Fangraphs projects 300 PAs for a DH on our team. We have, what I counted, 20 games against AL teams. Our DH is going to be averaging 15 PAs a game. Seems legit

    I am not buying a leverage problem in trying to trade Domingo Santana. He, in theory, can fit on this roster and make zero problems. It actually would do wonders for our offense. Domingo Santana is also (potentially) a pretty special hitter. Not elite, but pretty darn respectable. At the very least there are 3+ teams vying to get his services. While I agree if one team is in the running or even two are in the running that could hurt your leverage. I also don’t see many Domingo Santana players that can be easily acquired elsewhere so hard to leverage without believable fallback options. For those reasons I don’t believe in a leverage problem. We have a really good player and there is likely adaquete interest. No way a team started making their offer worse for us just because we acquired some OFers. Especially when he still fits on the roster. Also there is no way the Rays are demanding Santana and 4 other prospects. Santana counts as at least two by himself and you would expect maybe 2 others unless they are going quantity over quality.

    If Suter is starting 30 games, I'd imagine they would be close to 77 wins, too. Because it means a lot went wrong. Exactly. This is projecting our win total before the offseason is done. It assumes Suter will start in the rotation and even finish the entire year there(which is not happening even if he starts there). Can't really take it seriously.

    I'm not buying into this claim one bit. The Tampa Bay Rays had an offer they were willing to accept and backed out because they thought we were more desperate to trade Santana now...thus thinking we would add more to get rid of him? Yah, hard pass.

    Well aren’t they assuming Suter has a starting rotation spot? I bet if he started 30 games and gave him a normal starter leash he would get pretty close to that.

    Either of the Rangers/Dodgers rumors could be some type of ploy. I think the Cubs are legitimately one of the top contenders for him.

    I’d be surprised if they get enough exposure to challenge the NCAA.

    THIS^ Every time these projections come out people get a little up in arms...whether for the team in general or for a specific player. They depend on data and data only. If you have young unproven players and/or players with little track record your projection will be trash(most likely). 77 wins would not suprise me at all though. We have lots of regression candidates, especially pitchers. We have already lost Nelson for a half season and he may not be that good upon returning. If Anderson also regresses there goes our #2 pitcher production we were getting. I definitely think we finish above .500, but you never know and a projection system will not be very bullish on this team.

    I don’t buy this logic at all. Hader currently can’t throw his secondary pitches for strikes. He’s extremely wild in the zone. If he were starting, he’d be at 100 pitches in the 4th inning. Batters are often more patient early in games, and they won’t jump at all his pitches. I like Hader in the pen so he can learn to attack hitters and refine his mechanics. In the long run, I like him as a starter. But until he can consistently hit targets, he needs to work on short 3-9 batter stretches. You just explained the logic I said...they don’t want him in the rotation even if there was a spot for him. People are trying to infer adding a starter (Chacin/Gallardo/someone else) is pushing Hader out of the rotation. That is false. There was no situation that was putting him in the rotation this year because the Brewers don’t think he can do it.

    ...because they have such a good track record. Tell Stearns that, just telling it how it is.

    You guys are taking the hoard “Young and Controllable” talent comments the wrong way. Part of acquiring so much young talent was to not only have it play on our team, but to use it to obtain proven MLB players in trades. Stearns specifically said this before. Just because he added a FA and traded some prospects doesn’t mean he didn’t like the prospects or decided we went into full “win now” mode.

    If the Brewers thought Josh Hader had a good or even decent chance to be an impact starter he would be in the rotation. He is not and that likely tells us the Brewers don't believe in his stuff translating to the rotation in a way that would be more impactful than him staying a bullpen ace.

    Didn't we get Broxton for Rogers? Just sayin' The Yankees traded for a no name 1B at AAA from us....thinking Aguilar would fetch something.

    I am anticipating a TOR addition, but fully expect at least some kind of rotational addition. They are too willing to move Santana(and others) or spend big money to get one. With all the options out there this offseason one will be joining the Brewers.

    Right, but we already lost a draft pick on Cain. Losing another one for Lynn or Cobb may be difficult A what? 4th rounder? That would be idiotic. Nothing difficult about giving up a cruddy draft pick for what will be one of the best pitchers in our organizations history.
