  1. It’s been a downward slope this offseason. We started off with our high expectations only accepting 10’s like Rosenthal. We then started getting a little desperate and we went for questionable sources that were 6’s like HighHeat. Now after consuming too many rumors a short pause in the action we are jumping onto any rumor with legs.
  2. Yes the thought of him being a mid rotation starter(not what we are draining part of the farm for) and the fact if he is so bad we can decline an option makes me feel so much better. That is not where his value is. His value is getting paid mid rotation money while pitching like an ace. If he doesn’t do that you wasted prospects.
  3. There was a radio interview with WTMJ I believe right(RIGHT) after it happened.
  4. Hard to say they aren’t smart moves before any player involved has yet to take the field. These trades are absolute fleecings until one of those prospects does something. If we win a World Series with any of these players are you honestly going to look anyone in the eyes and say they weren’t good moves?
  5. No one tell them Brewer World is fake news...I would love for them to talk about fake rumors all day.
  6. Ok, so we trade away Ortiz/Burnes. That leaves us with a Woodruff who definitely is a starting MLB pitcher. Archer/Darvish/Nelson/Anderson are all highly controllable. Who don’t need to be replaced for years. So yes the minors might be thin, but we also won’t need them that badly. We need to draft well. We have a controllable core, but we need to develope talent and draft it. If not this will be a window.
  7. A big reason the market gets held up by a Yu Darvish is because teams don't want to be out of the bidding thus dropping the price for other teams. For example the Cubs may be fine moving on from Darvish and just getting Arrieta/Cobb. Except that could allow the Brewers to get Darvish easier or allow us to get him at a lower price. Because if the Cubs signed someone else we would know they aren't interested in Darvish. At the very least they want to pretend to be in the bidding to drive up the price for us. We may not even think we have a chance at Darvish. Maybe we want to keep the price high for the Cubs etc. and we are going to sign someone else, but don't want to do it before Darvish eventually decides.
  8. Look I don't believe the guy either and I agree with your questions about him, but I am not going to tell people what to believe or not believe. I am just going to to let him do his thing and let others do there thing. Maybe some day he actually gets enough proof to make me a believer, but for now I think I will not wrap my life around HighHeat rumors. If people are going crazy about something HighHeat said that I don't believe I will just say nothing if I am not going to provide anything useful. At the end of the day you can't really prove he is a liar or truthful. If you don't agree with him just ignore it. We don't need the negative attitude.
  9. Ok, this is typically how I check. Look at their tweet history of claiming inside info. His is ridiculous. Fake.
  10. Ok his post was possibly poorly constructed, but there is honestly no need to be a giant douche. He is a quality poster here with good thoughts. Try to do the same.
  11. Then buy the team and try to do that. Until then welcome to how every other owner runs their team.
  12. Do you understand how a business works...on a year to year basis? He has opened up his pocket book and is willing to do so even more. Attanasio has never acted cheap, why do you seem so bothered?
  13. The interview on Golic & Wingo made it sound like he was not all too happy. I know there will be a crowd that just says he has no business in coaching decisions but it still could create a rift between Rodgers and management. Comments like that reinforces my thought that he may just play out his contract and move elsewhere. Just like Favre. Favre didn’t do that at all...
  14. That is terrible terrible logic. #5 starter can be just as important as any other player on this teams. A good/healthy starting 5 was huge for the 2011 team. Hurts if you back end guys stink it up.
  15. The longer we last in the running the more likely it is actually. The big markets should have crushed us by now, but instead they haven’t. The fact we have been talking aggressively with Darvish for weeks is a really good sign. If they were just going to discard our chances, they would have done it quickly after our original offer. This tells me we have a legitimate chance at this point.
  16. Or more?! Where does he think that money is coming from?
  17. His source is probably a janitor who changes Stearn’s trash 100 times a day to creep in on inside conversations. That or the receptionist who just overhears things from outside the door. Who else would know every detail and know about big meetings they aren’t invited to? On a serious note if you are a big believer of HH19 the big meeting would have to be FA related because his source knew nothing about Cain. Never got Cain rumors. Though his source knows all about Darvish so I guess even that doesn’t make sense why he wouldn’t be invited. I guess you’d have to go with a meeting with major scouts to go over players or something. Regardless doesn’t make sense for it to be about a trade/FA decision since his source is supposably very aware of those situations. He wouldn’t be shut out of a meeting like that suddenly.
  18. The fact they already announced him as a bullpen arm, when they have no reason to announce that early, tells me there is zero chance he is in the rotation come opening day. I’m guessing he will strictly be a relief pitcher in spring training because of that news already being dropped...which means even if an injury happens he won’t have the innings built up to do it.
  19. If you needed to be told we had recent discussions about Archer...yikes. Biggest no news rumor I have seen in a while. No crud we are talking about Archer, duh. Let me guess we are also still talking to Arrieta too and Cobb. Some things are just obvious.
  20. It is, and morally not allowing a guy to test FA and dumping him at the end of FA is screwed up. You don’t do that.
  21. I'm sure they would have if they had foreseen that the free agent market would turn out this way, but now we already have Vogt. Gallardo is the only player on a non-guaranteed major league contract. “Vogt's arbitration contract is a non-guaranteed deal. The Brewers will have the ability to release him during Spring Training and owe him only a portion of his deal in the form of termination pay. Should he make the Opening Day roster, his salary will then become fully guaranteed.” There is kinda an unwritten rule that you don’t give someone arbitration and then release them. You are kinda a “you know what” if you let all of FA pass and then throw some player (Vogt in this case) into the market. If you released them because you found something better...yikes. The MLBPA would destroy you and it just would not be a good time at all. Getting cold feet cause you could have had something in better is just not right.
  22. Is 1B really going to be less rigorous for Braun? Seems to me that diving after ground balls in the hole may beat up on his back and obliques more than chasing down balls in the OF. I'm not saying don't play Braun at 1B, I am just thinking he is going to need 60 games off, and that should be planned for accordingly. It will be a lot less running for him. Knowing the nagging injuries he gets most probably come from swinging a bat and running bases. 1B would probably have little to no effect...but not throwing hard could help a bit. He doesn't just get sore...getting hit by a ball or diving are not big deals.
  23. According to...?
  24. Illinois has higher state taxes, a 3ish% difference in state tax on say $140 million is substantial. If you went to the Cubs board you'd see they think Darvish is going to sign with them for 4/$90...LOL. $120-130 is probably the low end of what he might get. Actually...no. A 3% difference(I went 7%/10%) is an incredible $2mil difference on $70mil. Only half his contract is made in Chicago/Milwaukee.
