  1. should have? No. Could have. Lets not act like it was a clear strike. It scraped the strike zone at best.
  2. It was close. No excuse for losing your composure and walking in a run on a horrible pitch.
  3. Interesting concept because you can't defend yourself and not get ejected.
  4. He is giving up approx. 9 a game which isn't all that bad. Certainly nothing to get excited about, but not proof he shouldn't be a starter. Honestly I think he has done pretty good this year just a few terrible starts that spike up his ERA. Why not let a 21 year old keep trying? He is the same age as a bunch of similar profile college pitchers who are about to be drafted and given a chance to start.
  5. I suspect if he ends the season with and OPS of .610, he'll be non-tendered. But until that point they'll keep giving him chances no doubt because other than the aforementioned journeyman types, they really don't have his replacement ready unless they move Perez out of his handyman role to full timer at 2B. I doubt they non tender him. I am sure there are teams that would trade for Villar if we personally didn't want him. He was pretty darn good the 700 ABs he had the previous two years.
  6. For the record, since people ask frequently, Villar doesn't have an option. So no he isn't going to be demoted.
  7. Kodi Medeiros is still quite inexperienced overall. Only 240 professional innings and has never thrown more than 80ish in any given season. As mentioned his ERA isn't flashy, but the secondary stats have greatly improved.
  8. He's a 31 year old journeyman who had a hot week. He should be getting almost no playing time. Villar needs to get hot to be considered a journeyman at this point. We're nearly a third of the way into the season and he's hitting .214. It's a better lineup with Sogard in it. By the way, Scooter's OPS is now at .854. Just sayin. No one cares about what Scooter Gennett is doing as a bench player here except you. And saying "Just Saying" is annoying. Stop acting like you are something special because Scooter Gennett has proven he was a better choice to keep in your mind. It gets old.
  9. It became really obvious this year.
  10. Temper down on Aguilar. He has looked good, but so did Jason Rogers in a similar role. Now he isn't even relevant.
  11. Wilkerson turns in another great start as Shuckers snap skid Shuckers head home with a 26-24 record through 50 games By Biloxi Shuckers | May 28, 2017 4:50 PM ET Wilkerson has 24 strikeouts over his last three starts and 20.2 innings pitched. All three were quality starts. (Hunter Reed) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: Aaron Wilkerson was on his game once again. Wilkerson, acquired in a package that sent away Aaron Hill last July, followed up his Pitcher of the Week performance with another gem. Today he recorded a season high 9 K's. It was a quiet day offensively, scoring 2 run, but it was enough to record the win. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Aaron Wilkerson (6.2 IP, 4 H, ER, 9 K) started the game while Tyler Scott (1.1 IP, 2 K), and Matt Ramsey (1 IP, 1 K) followed him. Hitting Summary: Dustin DeMuth (2-4, 2B, R) Johnny Davis (1-4, 2B) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Biloxi Top of the 6th -Johnny Davis doubles (4) on a ground ball to right fielder Yasiel Balaguert. -Mauricio Dubon reaches on a fielder's choice out, pitcher Duane Underwood Jr. to third baseman Jason Vosler. 12. So it's still a waste for me to throw away $800 a month of my $4,000/month salary at the strip club if I can still pay my bills? Well shoot . Well to be fair there could be some value for you. Maybe 2-3 WAR depending on how nice your wife is.
  13. I hope you guys run your personal finances a little better than you would run the Brewers. 20% of you payroll/income isn't a big deal if wasted...you can do the same things you would normally do anyway? I just can't get on board with this logic. $20mil is bad if Braun isn't going to produce at a high rate. Assuming the Brewers wouldn't put it to better use seems like a way to rationalize Braun not being a big deal if he isn't as good as he was before.
  14. Sky Sox Split With Baby Cakes, 10-5 Cooper (5 RBI) and Phillips (3 RBI) power offense to second straight win. By Robby Veronesi / Colorado Springs Sky Sox Brent Suter earned his third win of the season, allowing one earned run in 5.2 innings. (Paat Kelly) Colorado Springs Box Score Quick Summary: It was all Sky Sox today as they jumped out early and didn't let up to the tune of a 10-5 win. Powered by a 5 RBI day from Garrett Cooper and a 3 RBI day from Brett Phillips. Brent Suter pitched 5.2 innings to pace things for the pitching. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Brent Suter (5.2 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, ER, 6 K) started the game while Stephen Kohlscheen (1.1 IP, 4 ER), Andrew Barbosa (1 IP), and David Goforth (1.0 IP) followed him. Hitting Summary: Lewis Brinson (2-3, 3B, 3 R, RBI, 2 BB) Garrett Cooper (3-3, BB, HR, 2 R, 5 RBI) Brett Phillips (1-4, HR, 3 RBI) Colorado Springs Game Log Garrett Cooper keeps on going. Col. Springs Bottom of the 5th -Kyle Wren called out on strikes. -Lewis Brinson singles on a ground ball to first baseman Tomas Telis. -Ryan Cordell singles on a fly ball to center fielder Brandon Barnes. Lewis Brinson to 2nd. -Garrett Cooper homers (8) on a fly ball to center field. Lewis Brinson scores. Ryan Cordell scores. -Brett Phillips strikes out swinging. -Nate Orf doubles (5) on a fly ball to right fielder Chad Hinshaw. -Yadiel Rivera grounds out, third baseman Nick Noonan to first baseman Tomas Telis.
  15. He was caught twice though...for the same test.
  16. Can we please not make this a thread about people's opinion on Braun as a person and all that junk?
  17. So a cheaper/younger version of Braun?
  18. I should rephrase. My main concern is the fact we could potentially find a better option than Braun in the future that we can't use because it is sitting in LF. I really don't care about the money that much. They could make him a 4th outfielder if he gets injured/decline enough...however the problem is the Brewers would never do such a thing and that is where the problem/concern could arise. Though I will say I hate when people downplay the effect of his money because payroll could/would be low. There are always alternative ways to spend that money that people seems to love ignoring. We could have went out and signed some mega international free agent etc etc etc instead. Wasting money is bad and negative regardless. Let's not try to sugar coat that. Ryan Braun will never be a crippling player adversely effecting what we can do...that is he right side. However the deal and him being on the team could end up being a terrible move(by not trading him) Also I can't stress enough I am talking in a lot of hypotheticals. I am not saying he will do this or that. Just pointing out a potential scenario. So no one needs to freak out in that sense at me. Maybe this injury encyclopedia so far won't continue for 3 more years...we do t know for sure yet.
  19. Sky Sox Rally For 7-6 Win Orf and Wren combine for five RBIs to secure first win in series. By Robby Veronesi / Colorado Springs Sky Sox Wei-Chung Wang picked up his second win in relief, tossing 1.1 scoreless innings Thursday night. (Paat Kelly) Colorado Springs Box Score Quick Summary: Solid day for the hitting as they busted out 7 runs on 10 hits to edge the Baby Cakes 7-6. The pitching was shaky allowing 17 baserunners, but limitted the damage just enough for the win. Wei-Chung Wang is continuing his solid season with 1.1 scoreless innings today. Someone we might see sooner rather than later. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Paolo Espino (5.2 IP, 9 H, 5 ER, 3 K) started the game while Wei-Chung Wang (1.1 IP, 2 H, 2 K), Tristan Archer (1 IP, 2 H, BB, ER), and Tyler Cravy (1.0 IP, BB, H) closed the door. Hitting Summary: Lewis Brinson (1-4, 2B, R) Garrett Cooper (2-3, BB, R) Kyle Wren (2-5, 2B, 2 RBI) Colorado Springs Game Log Col. Springs Bottom of the 2nd -Garrett Cooper singles on a ground ball to second baseman Peter Mooney, deflected by pitcher Adam Conley. -Brett Phillips singles on a ground ball to center fielder Brandon Barnes, deflected by second baseman Peter Mooney. Garrett Cooper to 2nd. -Nate Orf doubles (4) on a fly ball to right fielder Moises Sierra. Garrett Cooper scores. Brett Phillips scores. Nate Orf advances to 3rd, on a throwing error by right fielder Moises Sierra. -Yadiel Rivera grounds out, shortstop Nick Noonan to first baseman Tomas Telis. -Rene Garcia reaches on a throwing error by pitcher Adam Conley. Nate Orf scores. -Paolo Espino out on a sacrifice bunt, pitcher Adam Conley to second baseman Peter Mooney. Rene Garcia to 2nd. -Kyle Wren doubles (7) on a fly ball to right fielder Moises Sierra. Rene Garcia scores. -Ivan De Jesus Jr. grounds out, third baseman Mike Aviles to first baseman Tomas Telis.
  20. While Ryan Braun should still have a decent bat regardless of injuries(we hope) the defense is what is going to kill his value where he honestly probably won't be our best option to roam LF. If he becomes a 3 WAR offensive bat here on out(maybe optimistic in the long run) he would easily counter that with -1.0 dWAR or more. I bet we could find a way cheaper player to put up 2 WAR. We have three CFers in AAA right now that could probably put up a lot of that with their defense alone in LF. I don't think it is as hard to find a similar value player as some think if Braun is going to be injured so much and decline offensively.
  21. The way he moves around these days that might be soon. Not sure if I should make that blue or not.
  22. Anyone worth more than 0 WAR is better than Ryan Braun right now. I think you are overvaluing an injury prone/crippled player whose offense will likely decline, have poor defense, and missing a ton of games. What will he be? 3 WAR player? That isn't that special. Then again I am being generous for a player worth nothing so far this year. I guess you said a healthy Braun...but good luck there.
  23. No matter if he never played again, it shouldn't effect anything the Brewers are doing or want to do. What if we have a better option in the minors? We are going to bench Braun? Release him?
  24. The most annoying part is they are dinky injuries so he isn't gone long enough to bring up one of the trio. Instead we watch garbage till he comes back...rinse and repeat. Just let him rest for a month and bring up someone worthwhile.
