  1. Why stop at a couple days? Why not a month? The 1980's were the middle ages? Oh yeah the feminization of America is a 21st century thing. How dare there be change! Change is bad!!!
  2. Would make sense. Did well in the DSL and Arizona would be that next step.
  3. I'd guess he would stay up until Braun comes back and someone else goes when Shaw returns. However having him here 3 days just to send him down is hardly a big deal to be honest. Wouldn't surprise me either. That only bothers me when said player mostly plays the bench and is here for an extended period of time.
  4. Agreed the two prospects are about even. Would sway either way depending on what your scouts think. Only difference is we are adding a somewhat proven MLB starter.
  5. Also when it comes to Hader how many years has Stearns been here and how many other pitchers are also getting their innings limitted when June just started? Hader is the only person we are trying this method on? Seems kind of obvious this isn't apart of his development unless it is to go to the bullpen for good. If that isn't the case then he is being groomed for some type of role later in the season on the MLB squad. Regarding Haudricourt/McCalvy. No offense to them, but they both suck at insider info and rumors.
  6. Shuckers fall to Braves in rain-shortened series opener Rain halts game in sixth inning on Sunday By Biloxi Shuckers Jacob Nottingham collected Biloxi's only RBI on Sunday at Trustmark Park (BENTON REED) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: It was a miserable day in the sky and on the mound in the rain shortened loss to Mississippi. Jorge Lopez, who looked good to start the year, has been disasterous to say the least of late. Lopez gave up 6 runs in just 5 innings of work. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Jorge Lopez (5 IP, 7 H, 6 ER, 4 BB, 6 K) started the game while Forrest Snow struck out one batter before the game was ended. Hitting Summary: Johnny Davis (1-3, 3B) Jacob Nottingham (1-3, RBI) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Biloxi Top of the 1st Johnny Davis flies out to center fielder Ronald Acuna. Mauricio Dubon bunt grounds out softly, catcher Sal Giardina to first baseman Joey Meneses. Michael Choice singles on a ground ball to shortstop Dylan Moore. Art Charles singles on a sharp ground ball to right fielder Connor Lien. Michael Choice to 3rd. Jacob Nottingham singles on a soft fly ball to right fielder Connor Lien. Michael Choice scores. Art Charles to 2nd. Angel Ortega strikes out swinging.
  7. The Brewers are planning on getting Josh Hader into the bullpen this year and probably sooner rather than later. No way they are just limitting innings in June already. If he already needs his innings limitted he isn't future starter material. He isn't coming off injury so you would want to increase his innings from last year yet they are doing the opposite.
  8. If the pitching staff is really turning a corner this team could be really interesting. I know some are concerned about the bullpen, but that would be a really easy fix in July. We can afford to take on salary or just promote people.
  9. I mean yah age is important. You are going to tell me you are confident Guerra keeps this up from 32-37 or whatever? Heck no. Taillon on the other hand is a pretty safe bet to not decline in the next 5 years. If anything I would expect improvement. Gilbert Lara is hitting .150 with an OPS of .421. It has been years and the guy still doesn't know how to play baseball. Blankenhorn on the other hand is hitting .230 with an OPS of .700. You can't possibly think those players have similar value. Blankenhorn is a true lottery ticket. Lara is a warm body who's most valuable attribute is the fact we wasted $3mil on him and we haven't dumped him yet. Regarding the pitchers I have seen both as #3 types with the potential to be more. Not Kershaws, but #2 types. Once again would I do that deal? No.
  10. We are loaded on OFers. If he was a middle infielder maybe I could understand, but I think we are set in the OF. I am guessing it would take way too much to acquire him. Brinson plus a few of our other highly regarded prospects. I would just promote Brinson/Phillips and hope one can be a similar player to Yelich. I really just don't see selling the farm for a controllable player like that. At least not at this venture in the rebuild where we want to see what those prospects can do for us. Selling the farm for Yelich is a luxury when we have a young controllable team that doesn't need extreme depth in the minors.
  11. Blake Allemand wins it in the 14th Allemand drives in Dubon for the win By Biloxi Shuckers Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: After blowing the lead in the 7th inning the Shuckers answered right back to tie the game. It was a marathon taking 14 innings before the Shuckers capped off the night on a Pitching Summary: On the mound, Andrew Wilkerson (6.2 IP, 8 H, 5 ER, 6K) started the game while the bullpen combined for 7.1 innings of one run ball. Josh Uhen gave up the lone run while Taylor Scott, Matt Ramsey, and Nick Ramirez all had scoreless outings. Hitting Summary: Mauricio Dubon (3-6, 2 2B, 3 R) Blake Allemand (2-4, 2 RBI) Angel Ortega (2-6, 3 RBI, HR) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log Biloxi Bottom of the 14th Mauricio Dubon doubles (13) on a ground ball to left fielder Tim Arakawa. Blake Allemand singles on a line drive to center fielder Michael Hermosillo. Mauricio Dubon scores.
  12. Marcos Diplan is a likely reliever and I have never heard one person think Freddy Peralta has a ceiling more more than a No.3. Gilbert Lara....is a flaming pile of garbage. That isn't even close to what the Twins proposed package was. Also I am in no GMs office, but I am pretty sure Taillon is [sarcasm]100x[/sarcasm] more valuable than Guerra. Junior Guerra is much older and that limits how much value all that control has. I can be pretty confident Taillon will be really good the next 5 years....Guerra not so much.
  13. Maybe you don't like his proposal, but it is hardly humorous. He is trading a OFer he believes can be easily replaced internally and a starter who is old, lacks a track record, and an injury concern. He is then getting a pair of pitchers that many believe have TOR potential. I think he is selling both of them short, but who knows.
  14. I don't care how Garza fields or gives up runs when he pitches to the tune of a sub-4 ERA.
  15. A cutter isn't bad on the elbow. I am pretty sure the splitter is the pitch considered bad on an elbow...I think.
  16. The first deal really depends on ones evaluation of those two pitchers. If you are really bullish on them it might be an acceptable deal...personally I wouldn't do that trade. Guerra has a lot of value if he pitches well until the deadline and an .850 OPS hitter has a lot of value too. I agree it may make sense to trade a more short term Guerra for something long term, but that may not be the deal to get it done. The second deal is iffy. The only reason I would do it is because I really think Tristan can be a TOR guy. I fear that he may not be very durable though which concerns me. You have to remember Domingo Santana even if not special could still be a 3 WAR player. That is a lot of surplus value and in my opinion too much packaged with Corey Ray. Either deal you would have to trust your scouts to evaluate the pitchers adequately. Both are plausible none the less. Personally I would deal them separately instead of trying so hard to find one good pitcher.
  17. Jimmy Nelson looks like he is going to have a fine year. Junior Guerra looks like he is truly a good pitcher. Matt Garza has looked pretty good overall. Chase Anderson looks like he could be a solid guy as well. That is four guys who look like they could surely post sub-4 ERAs this year and all are controlled past this year. Crazy to think everyone was freaking out about the rotation and now it is really solid. Hope it continues.
  18. What a joke. Arcia is miserable to watch offensively. No power and is the most clutchless player on the team. He looks painfully uncomfortable in any big spot.
  19. Shuckers slug their way to rain-shortened win on Friday Coulter, Choice and Reed homer in the series clinching win By Biloxi Shuckers Michael Reed blasted his team-leading seventh home run on Frdiay night (Hunter Reed) Biloxi Shuckers Box Score Quick Summary: In a rain shortened game Luis Ortiz threw a 6 inning complete game shutout. Ortiz dominated the BayBears to the tune of 6 Ks and only 5 hits given up. It was a welcoming sight after consecutive 4 earned run outings for the the righty. The high upside Ortiz currently boosts an ERA in the low 3s and opposing hitters are batting under .200 against him. On the offensive side the Shuckers were lead by a trio of HRs to bust out 7 runs in the short game. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Luis Ortiz (3.2 IP, BB, 4K) started the game and pitched all 6 innings for the Shuckers. Hitting Summary: Clint Coulter (2-2, 3 RBI, HR, 2 R) Michael Choice (1-3, HR) Michael Reed (1-2, HR, 2 RBI) Biloxi Shuckers Game Log From no-hitter to game winning inning. Biloxi Bottom of the 2nd Art Charles Jr. flies out to center fielder Zach Welz. Jacob Nottingham walks. Angel Ortega walks. Jacob Nottingham to 2nd. With Clint Coulter batting, wild pitch by Osmer Morales, Jacob Nottingham to 3rd. Clint Coulter homers (5) on a fly ball to right field. Jacob Nottingham scores. Angel Ortega scores. Javier Betancourt doubles (8) on a fly ball to left fielder Michael Hermosillo. Mauricio Dubon lines out to shortstop Alberto Triunfel. Michael Reed grounds out, second baseman David Fletcher to first baseman Luis Tejada.
