  1. I said this before(before he went on the DL) and I will say it again...this thread/conversation is completely pointless if he doesn't start playing more and at least pretend to be healthy. He has played(in the field) in only 58% of our games. That has no trade value whatsoever. It isn't even worth talking about trading him if this is how it is going to be.
  2. Agree. I just did a quick scan of SS with a minimum 75 PA, and Arcia ranks: 26th in OPS at .637 28th in OBP at .277 His defense is helping his overall value, but his hitting is pathetic. I think we have a number of options at SS who could provide as much or more value to the team right now than Arcia, and by having him on the team now (and half of last year) we are going to lose out on some of his prime years when he will be tremendously valuable. It won't happen, but I see no problem with sending Arcia to AAA to work on things. Off the top of my head, Yount, Hardy, Escobar, and Segura were all SS that struggled early on. Point being, sometimes the development needs to take place at the MLB level. A case could be made that hitting in CS could actually hurt him more than help at this point. Alcides Escobar is still terrible. Actually one of his Top 3 years was his first extended stint. I find it interesting people assume Arcia will become this uber valuable SS down the road. He very well may just be a terrible hitter much like Escobar. Also Hardy wasn't that bad early on either and his career offensively wasn't ever that good. Arcia is terrible...TERRIBLE. He is like a second pitcher most ABs.
  3. I predict your predicted offense to be quite below average. It features 3 starters and 3 bench players who would likely have little to no MLB experience. Then it features an average catching duo, an old 1B, a SS (IMO) that will never hit all that well, and Phillips with all the holes in his swing. Thats a whole lot of not good for one predicted line-up. You want a league minimum line-up with little experience and when you are competing that sounds like a formula for failure. My other issue is you have too many (what should be then) upper level MiLB prospects in no mans land without starting spot. I just don't see us having our entire bench made up of inexperienced top prospects and I don't see us having that many legitimate pitchers floating around the minors. In my opinion you need to insert some of those trade chip veterans back into your starting line-up and account for some veteran additions on the bench(at least one). Then to make it even more accurate you would need to predict some FA signings that are bound to happen to fill holes. You are too bull-ish on those players at A+ and below to be real contributors in 2020.
  4. Offense Erupts To Secure Series Split Two crooked innings fuel second straight win. By Robby Veronesi / Colorado Springs Sky Sox Yadiel Rivera drove in four runs to lead the Sky Sox to an 11-2 win at Albuquerque. (Paat Kelly) Colorado Springs Box Score The Sky Sox rolled over the Isotopes 11-2 as they busted out 18 hits on the day. Garrett Cooper was all over Istopes' pitching collecting 5 hits bringing his batting average on the year up to .353(!). Five other Sky Sox hitters collected multiple hits on the day including starter Michael Blazek. On the mound, Michael Blazek (4.0 IP, 4 hits, ER, BB, 5K) started the game while Tristan Archer (2.0 IP, 3K), Stephen Kohlscheen (2.0 IP, 3K), and Oliver Drake (ER, HR) shut down any potential for a Isotopes comeback. Colorado Springs Game Log Sky Sox bust out 6 runs in 3rd inning. Col. Springs Top of the 3rd Kyle Wren walks. Ivan De Jesus Jr. doubles (6) on a fly ball to center fielder Mike Tauchman. Kyle Wren scores. Ryan Cordell doubles (13) on a line drive to left fielder Rafael Ynoa. Ivan De Jesus Jr. scores. Garrett Cooper singles on a ground ball to left fielder Rafael Ynoa. Ryan Cordell to 3rd. Brett Phillips pops out to second baseman Cristhian Adames. Nate Orf walks. Garrett Cooper to 2nd. Yadiel Rivera hit by pitch. Ryan Cordell scores. Garrett Cooper to 3rd. Nate Orf to 2nd. Tyler Heineman grounds out, first baseman Collin Ferguson to pitcher Thad Weber. Garrett Cooper scores. Nate Orf to 3rd. Yadiel Rivera to 2nd. Michael Blazek singles on a line drive to center fielder Mike Tauchman. Nate Orf scores. Yadiel Rivera scores. Kyle Wren flies out to center fielder Mike Tauchman
  5. Till said pitcher regresses suddenly or they get a major injury.
  6. Hate him if you would like. However the fact he has endless announcing gigs across every sports platform you can think of tells me he is really good. You don't get all those offers being average. The guy is one of the best at his job and it's hard to debate. Uecker is one of the best at his job(as they say) and I don't think he is anything special. That is my opinion and the majority would disagree. Which is fine. That being said it is just a person talking...breath. At least he doesn't do this: https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaabkvideos/mlb-announcer-interviews-bird/vp-BBBnq3G
  7. Not sure how serious the Brewers will be with buying at the deadline if competing, but I am betting a Lopez or Woodruff will find themselves in the rotation pretty fast if a pitcher is struggling in the rotation. While you can disagree with buying there isn't an excuse to be throwing garbage out there every five days when our record is shiny. Davies/Anderson need to pitch better or get them out of there. They struggle to get through 5 innings.
  8. Trent Clark knows how to work an AB and it is very obvious watching him. He is an elite guy when it come to drawing walks and getting on base relative to his batting average. I'd expect that to continue wherever he goes.
  9. Trey Supak deserves a bump too whenever Burnes gets his.
  10. It was lame on the Cubs part considering the bobblehead. It made sense from a competitive standpoint...but..,yikes for the fans. Price for the cheapest ticket went from I believe $60 to now $25. As mentioned while weather will be more pleasant for resale the Fact it is a Thursday afternoon hurts. The problem isn't the fact the date was changed(you have plenty of time to request off) it is the fact thousands were already lined up to get the bobblehead and wasted their time going all the way down there for nothing. All because the home team wanted to rest the bullpen.
  11. Its not a mutual decision, it's up to the home team, at least those are the MLB rules. Where did you hear anything yesterday about it being mutual? Wouldn't matter if the Brewers said something as its not their decision. And from some of the comments coming out today it sounds like they did care. Never said the Brewers had any say. One of the Milwaukee reporters made it seem like at the time of postponement the Brewers were ok with that. Today's comments make it seem like that was inaccurate or he Brewers had a change of heart when the weather didn't get very bad.
  12. Happy overall with the minor league players. Most of the disappointments so far I expected before the season started(Erceg, Nottingham, and Hader) and outside of that guys are hitting as one would guess or better. Dubon hitting well is exciting, Diaz is doing solid, Gatewood blazing, and lots of success on the pitching side.
  13. Insert Hader...though I doubt they already pull the plug of him as a starter.
  14. Arcia could be an interesting trade piece(much like Escobar was) and you could also add a Broxton/Santana to the list of guys you could trade as you would replace with Brinson. I wouldn't trade either though. Some of you guys are hinting at players controllable 3 years or less and I think such trade could be devestatingly bad for us. This team isn't elite this year and if it regresses next year you are in big time trouble. Too risky at this venture.
  15. Last I checked the decision was pretty mutual between the teams. You guys are making a big deal about nothing. If the Brewers thought it was purely to help the Cubs they would have said something. Obviously the Brewers didn't care so neither should you.
  16. Gatewood with a smash and Corey Ray also went deep. The later has been quietly good of late.
  17. 60 degrees, overcast with a little bit of wind is miserable weather? Don't ask me, ask them.
  18. Didn't want to play in miserable weather again after yesterday. Mutual thought from both teams.
  19. http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2017/5/19/15663234/brewers-twins-rockies-first-place-whaaaa
  20. I'd imagine the Brewers would just internally promote someone to be in the rotation before they start selling off valuable pieces of our farm system. Brandon Woodruff could be just as good as Odorizzi. Especially when the league doesn't know him he could put up surprisingly good stats(Jungmann/Guerra). Trading Top 15 prospects at this juncture would be a pretty questionable move and I highly doubt Stearns would even consider it. We should be talking about trades that are a whole lot less expensive. Being controllable for 2.5 years isn't a good reason to be trading top prospects. Think small if you want to dream on us buying at the deadline.
  21. Marco Estrada has been a pretty solid starter 5/6 years and two of those years were with us. Depends on how the market shakes out, but he would probably fetch a decent return for a rental. Though if we are really contending we could stomach it quite easily especially if we can use an OFer to help make it happen.
  22. The bullpen is perfectly fine if you ask me. If we keep contending we could easily internally add to make it even better.
  23. Seriously free Trey Supak On another note if Hader continues to struggle what do you do? send him to AA, put him in the MLB rotation anyway, or put him in the MLB bullpen. Not saying we are close to such a decision, but it is something to wonder. If our success continues this year I wonder if he gets promoted to be in the bullpen down the stretch.
  24. He looked like a guy clearly spot starter and limitted the damage. Nothing more.
