  1. When he hits a bases clearing double to win game 6 in the NLCS, yes. A good move. We can't trade him for known MLB roster filler. It's either young high ceiling prospects or we hold onto him. His hypothetical replacement might win it in Game 4
  2. Sadly yes. I'm not losing sleep over not having those two though. Well put. If we end up keeping Braun and making the playoffs before he retires, holding onto him will be the best non-move Stearns ever didn't make. Even if he plays 90 games and is worth 1 WAR? Maybe negative with defense considered? Still a good move?
  3. I guess I'm confused on this. What's embarrassing about it? Disappointing or frustrating that he can't play but embarrasing is a weird way to put it. I doubt Braun wants to continue to be hurt. Well for Stearns if it continues to trend like this.
  4. Still too early too say, but not looking too well.
  5. Embarrassing. Dude can't even last a a couple innings.
  6. Pipe dream. Only way we get out of it is if he hurts something that knocks him out of the game. Which I hope doesn't happen regardless of how much of a roadblock he might be to the team(not saying I think it will happen...just the chances are somewhat high).
  7. I couldn't disagree more there. 2011 was not lucky even in the slightest. That team was legit with an elite offense, elite bullpen after adding K-Rod, and a pitching rotation that was solid 1-5. That team was everything that record showed. I also disagree Prince leaving was proof it was a one year shot and our decline in 2012 was proof of that. Sliding Corey Hart to 1B, adding a highly productive Ramirez at 3B, and having Gomez start to excel easily replaced Fielder greatly. The offense was greatly improved scoring 40 more runs in 2012 vs. 2011. The huge downfall in the 2012 team was he decline of a few starters and a huge drop in production from some of our (what were elite in 2011) bullpen arms. That 2012 team had just as much potential and talent.
  8. We traded minor leaguers after 2011? I can think of some pretty minor trades with no name prospects that amounted to nothing. Haniger and Banda I guess we're notable? Though they turned into Davies...so. I doubt trading them ruined anything future related as Haniger likely never going to get a shot here. I highly disagree we were put in a bad situation failing to rebuild after 2011. It just delayed it.
  9. Sox Drop Game Two Of Series, 14-4 Orf, De Jesus lead offense. By Robby Veronesi / Colorado Springs Sky Sox Ivan De Jesus drove in a run and recorded his third three-hit game of the season Wednesday night against New Orleans. (Paat Kelly) Colorado Springs Box Score Quick Summary: Josh Hader threw batting practice today...during the game. It was an ugly day for him giving up 8(!) runs in just 3 innings of work. The Brewers top pitching prospect now sports a 5.81 ERA on the year. The offense didn't fair much better today scoring just 4 runs on 8 hits. On the bright side Lewis Brinson returned to the lineup after missing time with an injury. Pitching Summary: On the mound, Josh Hader (3 IP, 9 hits, 8 ER, 3 BB, 4 HR, 2K) started the game while Andrew Barbosa (2 IP, 5 ER,2K), Andy Oliver (1 IP, ER), Stephen Kohlscheen pitched two scoreless innings, and David Goforth pitched a scoreless inning. Hitting Summary: Lewis Brinson (returned from injury, 1-5) Brett Phillips (1-3, 2B, 3B, RBI) Ivan De Jesus Jr. (3-4, 2B, RBI) Colorado Springs Game Log New Orleans Top of the 3rd -Peter Mooney singles on a line drive to right fielder Brett Phillips, deflected by first baseman Garrett Cooper. -Steve Lombardozzi Jr. walks. Peter Mooney to 2nd. -Brandon Barnes doubles (6) on a line drive to left fielder Ryan Cordell. Peter Mooney scores. Steve Lombardozzi Jr. Brandon Barnes advances to 3rd, on a throwing error by shortstop Yadiel Rivera. -Destin Hood homers (10) on a fly ball to left center field. Brandon Barnes scores. -Tomas Telis singles on a line drive to center fielder Lewis Brinson. -Moises Sierra grounds into a double play, pitcher Josh Hader to second baseman Nate Orf to first baseman Garrett Cooper. Tomas Telis out at 2nd. -Matt Juengel singles on a ground ball to center fielder Lewis Brinson. -Mike Aviles flies out to center fielder Lewis Brinson.
  10. Don't necessarily disagree that we don't have the pitchers to win a championship, but not sure that picking a pitcher in 2017 is even going to be around to help for that ultimate goal. A HS guy could take over 5 years to be helpful. Honestly we should be taking best player available because some of our top prospects will likely be traded away before they ever put on a Brewers uniform. That's the problem with trying to draft for need. You are making assumptions those good players aren't already in your system and assuming that will actually be a need half a decade from now.
  11. Unfortunate the food sucks so much at Miller Park. In my experience the stands from an actual business(like AJ Bombers) tend to have decent food. Guessing because such places employ their own workers. Volunteers is no excuse as I am sure most ballparks do that.
  12. We have depth at pitcher! Why do people insist we don't? We have multiple Top 100 prospect pitchers and many many more good ones following suit. Do any project as aces? No, but I could argue we don't have the hitter equivalent in the minors right now either.
  13. The fact the Brewers look pretty decent and might be able to compete sometime in the next 4 years really doesn't help matters of getting him to prefer elsewhere. SO BOOM. Something new to be said.
  14. Defense Turns Triple Play in 7-2 Defeat Cordell, Nieuwenhuis provide RBI doubles in series opener. By Robby Veronesi / Colorado Springs Sky Sox Rene Garcia and the Sky Sox defense turned the fourth triple play in franchise history Tuesday night at Security Service Field. (Paat Kelly) Colorado Springs Box Score If you are a Brandon Woodruff fan you might want to save yourself a click as it wasn't a pleasant outing tonight against the Baby Cakes. For the offense things weren't much better as they could only muster 2 runs against Baby Cakes pitching in their 7-2 loss. Brett Phillips (2-4) and Yadiel Rivera (2-3 BB) were the only Sky Sox hitters to record multiple hits. The Sky Sox 2 runs came from doubles off the bats of Ryan Cordell and Kirk Nieuwenhuis. On the mound, Brandon Woodruff (5.2 IP, 10 hits, 5 ER, BB, 6K) started the game while Wei-Chung Wang (1.1 IP, BB, 3K) and Tim Dillard (2.0 IP, 2 H, 2K) paired up to throw 3.1 innings of solid work. The only run from the bullpen duo came thanks to a bases loaded HBP in the 9th. The run went down as an unearned run thanks to Rene Garcia's second error of the night, catcher's interference, the previous batter. Colorado Springs Game Log Sky Sox turn triple play. New Orleans Top of the 4th -Stephen Fife doubles (1) on a fly ball to left fielder Kyle Wren. -Peter Mooney singles on a line drive to right fielder Brett Phillips. Stephen Fife to 3rd. -Steve Lombardozzi Jr. grounds into a triple play, third baseman Gabriel Noriega to second baseman Ivan De Jesus Jr. to catcher Rene Garcia to first baseman Kirk Nieuwenhuis. Stephen Fife out at home. Peter Mooney out at 2nd. Steve Lombardozzi Jr.
  15. Because no patience. The hate for Arcia because he looks like a rookie while still in his rookie year. Cant have that at 22. Its .950 OPS or move on. Oh but wait, is that right? With Villar and Santana its the lacking of GG defense. Brinson, Perez, Dubon are all going to be these requirements. AS or bust! No one even proposed trading Arcia for Cozart. It was one poster who was likely a massive Doug Melvin hater saying that is what Melvin would do.
  16. Any one have some statistics on Ryan Braun merchandise sales at this point? I am guessing most people already own all the Braun merchandise they can get. Not to mention he is constantly not on the field and it isn't like he is putting up MVP numbers anymore. Ryan Braun is on the decline and that isn't what people want to buy. They want to buy what is new and cool on the team. I am going to highly doubt merchandise and ticket sales would fall by $20mil year if we traded him. We would save money if we traded him.
  17. Some of you guys act like Attanasio was this horrible person who destroyed the franchise. What exactly did he do that was so darn bad? He wanted to keep trying to compete after a few years of success. He lobbied for a few pretty minor additions over a couple years. The team competed in 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, and 2014. After an awful start in 2015 he decided to allow a teardown. You guys act like he handed out $200mil contracts, traded all our prospects away, and doomed us for a decade. He delayed the rebuild by a few years, big whoopie. Attanasio gets a lot of flak just for delaying a rebuild a few years seeing if he could etch another postseason appearance into history. Wondering if doomsday is upon us seems a bit extreme in my opinion. Mark Attanasio is a pretty smart man judging by the size of his wallet. I think he understands the rebuild is a good idea. I could understand getting worried once this crop of players starts going on the decline...but jesh.
  18. Except when people are saying they are less than impressive it is looking at what they think those players should be doing vs. what they actually are doing. Those are players people want to be hitting .280/.350./.500 Now all things considered I am not too terribly dissapointed with either of them. Both are hitting for a solid .750 OPS. Not terrible...not that good(considering we drafted them so high). Hopefully one of them can take the next step.
  19. If it was July 31st, we are in 1st place, and the Reds don't have a strong market for either player maybe we could swing a deal. You might have to give up a little bit, but if we are strongly in contention it would be a worthwhile sacrifice in my opinion. If we are treading WC contention I probably don't make such a move. If Arcia is still hitting so poorly come July 31st he deserves a demotion and Cozart won't really be stealing his job.
  20. ...come on now. That is a ridiculous statement.
  21. There was a pretty legitimate that his preferences were #1 Dodgers #2 Brewers #3 the rest. Ryan Braun isn't interested in any benefits to waive the no trade protection. At one point he sounded like, if it made sense for him still, he would do it if the Brewers if they really wanted to trade him. Still making sense probably means still out west and I highly doubt anywhere on the east coast.
  22. Yup...if anything it points to Attanasio having zero control. He has let Stearns do whatever he wants.
