  1. Wow all the bunting Counsell does and he doesn't do it there? Come on man.
  2. Great location for Peralta there. Everything on the edge or not even in the strike zone.
  3. If the starter fails to go 5 innings the win is at the discretion of official scorer.
  4. 90 pitches through three... love it And it is the pitchers fault for the most part. Self inflicted wound.
  5. It's possible. Aramis Ramirez was pretty well known for that. I don't think that is the reason as he was pretty fine last year, but who knows.
  6. Great job by the Brewers being patient knowing he wasn't throwing strikes. That might seem obvious, but in years past we have had a lot of aggressive hitters that could have made that a 15 pitch inning before you know it with zero runs.
  7. I guess I don't really see the negativity towards the pitching. If this offense is going to excel then we don't need that great of pitching. The pitching has been fine. Will it continue or get better to offset some potential offensive regression? I could see it. This team has played like a better version of the 2010 team that won 77 games. This team has a notably better pitching staff(and for now a more productive offense). Not sure about defense, but I'd guess this one has a better defense just looking at it face value. Right now it has played like and looks like a legitimate contender. I agree better pitcher would make that a much easier thing to imagine, but I don't think it has been as terrible as people are making it out to be.
  8. Last year was the golden year for them Cubs in this competitive stretch in my opinion. They will turn it around to some degree and I fully expect them to make the playoffs, but they aren't all that special so far.
  9. The Brewers are on pace for 90+ wins.
  10. If you are going to use the past as a way to make conclusions about the future then we should just continue to ignore pitching. If it never works why even waste the pick? Hasn't worked the last 20 years.
  11. But how true is that anymore? How much of the game is called from the bench? Either way, I don't anyone is calling for meatballs over the plate on 0-2 pitches. Depends on the team and pitcher. A lot of coaches like pulling up various statistics on what to pitch. However they are certainly being intentionally aggressive on 0-2 counts...whoever is calling the pitches.
  12. I am assuming you are referring to Stearns personally...because it's pretty debatable other than that.
  13. Exactly something is hiding somewhere. Usually for us it is a hitter(Davis/Lucroy), but maybe one of our pitchers is a Quintana type pitcher. Stearns isn't going to draft by need which is pretty smart in MLB drafts. Doesn't take long for a strength to turn into a black hole. Jean Segura was suppose to be our SS of the future and flopped here. Orlando Arcia was suppose to be that guy, but so far has been terrible with the bat. Jonathan Villar has been pretty bad himself too. We are supposably so deep in the middle infield yet have one of the worst duos up the middle in baseball.
  14. Time to start worrying about something else.
  15. Hold on to good players and try to win? What a radical idea! That sounds like what Doug Melvin did, and that failed pretty consistently. I love how Sterns has traded good players to open spots for better players. That said, I think I would wait to deal a catcher. While I believe both are actually good, I think they're still both building their league wide reputations. Waiting allows Susac, Heineman, and Houle time to develop. Doug Melvin did what Attanasio told him to. He was driving a car with a gun to his head basically. Stearns has gotten the luxury to do what he wants whenever.
  16. I know his stats are decent, but Aguilar puts together absolute dud ABs when you just need him to hit the ball. Come on man.
  17. The real problem is having only one righty on the bench and it being Orlando Arica. Even with that why not let him bat there? Why have lefty on lefty?
  18. If you released Wily I am betting a team claims him. Tommy Milone got claimed and Wily Peralta is 10x more interesting.
  19. I'd trade Hader over Brinson. If Hader looked like a starter it would be a different story, but he looks more like a reliever in my opinion. Of course I can understand why one wouldn't since he is a pitcher and so many fans are in love with pitching prospects. Whether that is justified or not I don't know.
  20. Honestly I feel like the catchers are a bit to blame sometimes. They are the ones calling the game and a lot of times calling what to throw and where. Sometimes you are just left scratching your head why we are having 0-2 pitches over the plate among many other things. Real headscatchers sometimes.
  21. I threw out Ray/Diaz/Phillips/Diplan which I don't agree is that far off at all. That's a top 30, a top 60, and borderline top 100s which include a guy who was a top 50 and is off to a great start in AAA. Maybe you'd have to substitute Brinson for Ray but if you do, Brinson/Diaz/Phillips/Diplan seems more than fair to me. Maybe substitute Clark for Phillips if you're dealing Brinson instead of Ray. Would depend on the other teams view of Ray at this point.
  22. Quintana would start with either Brinson/Hader and take another Top 100 prospect easily, and more promising guys like Dubon etc. it would take way more than the ideas people are throwing around here.
  23. Through 2020 on options. Terrible idea regardless. Would take a ridiculous amount of prospects. Would rather sign one in FA.
