  1. Vikings are the same way with Peterson and Matt Kalil. It has nothing to do with ratings down (temporarily). injured players=worse teams=less people watching=ratings down So yes, it definitely aids to the poor ratings. When healthy players can't come back because only one can return from IR and teams aren't just going to keep them on the roster for weeks injured that is not good entertainment.
  2. I will say I was totally shocked the other day when I learned a team can only bring back one player from the IR in a season...why?!?!? No wonder ratings are down. How does that even seem logical? Sure makes me want to watch football when I learn the Packers can only bring back Shields OR Lacy, but not both even if they are both heathy. NOT.
  3. I'm not sure if making actual minor league teams does anything. Then your injury replacements are probably getting injured playing. I wish there was a better way to replace injured players with passable replacements, but the reality is there just isn't that much quality depth sitting around not on active rosters. It sucks and it's just the way the game goes. Sometimes your season is ruined by harsh injuries across the board. The Packers aren't the first one to have this issue. I'd love to sit here and rip apart Capers for his play calling, but honestly what is he suppose to do? His DBs can't cover for more than a few seconds and the pass rush isn't going to get there every time. What an idiot for having so much man coverage today, but then again rushing 3/4 of the defense and hope they get there was probably the only way to win. Just a dissapointing season to watch as another game filled with injuries every other play.
  4. Grab the fork and start cheering for the losses to pile up for a Top 10 pick. Not going to compete with 4th string defensive backs.
  5. And there goes another defensive back.
  6. No actually the injury excuse isn't BS. Every team does not have their top 2 RBs, 4 of their top DBs, starting TE, one of their biggest playmakers on defense, and multiple lineman all out on any given week. Yes teams deal with injuries all year, but not to so many major components and not in such quantity weekly. A few of those guys not injured and we aren't giving up 30+ points a week and we would be pulling out close wins when instead we are losing them.
  7. A pitcher who's service clock has already began? This rebuild needs more than one possible good pitcher. Maybe if some other guys have already shown they're ready to contend but we are just not there yet. Yah a pitcher 100x better than anything in this entire organization. We need to bring in talent. If the Dodgers were dumb enough to trade Urias Stearns would be all over that. Arcia has his clock started and so does Villar. We aren't going to build a team full of players hitting the majors at the same time. Some will have less service time and some a lot. To avoid Urias over a started service clock(literally just started) would be tragic.
  8. This is the wrong time to get greedy and demand multiple top prospects or a top 50 prospect. Honestly if you get a deal headed by a Top 100 prospect or something close it better be accepted. Obviously I hope for more, but that is the minimum. Junior Guerra's ERA was a fluke from last year for the stats he put up. Best case scenario you have a 3.50 ERA pitcher. That is assuming he doesn't regress any from last year or the league doesn't figure him out. He could easily end up a 4+ ERA pitcher. Other teams know Guerra isn't an ace and he didn't even pitch like it last year. Sure his ERA says ace, but every other stat says solid #3 starter. Great chance of inuury or regression. Play hard ball, but in your mind know you are taking the best offer.
  9. [sarcasm]We will have a spot for Charlie Morton!!![/sarcasm]
  10. I think you guys might be taking that report way to seriously. 1) Just because teams are inquiring doesn't mean they have no concerns about his elbow. I can bet every single team has a lot of concern and their offer will reflect that. 2) Just because some teams inquire doesn't mean a great bidding war is taking place or will ever take place. 3)He is still lacks a track record, older, and a pretty large injury risk. That being said I think they can get a solid return and it is a very easy choice to trade him. He won't be on the next competing team and it just isn't worth risking him getting injured or regressing. Add in the weak SP market this winter and there is little reason to keep him.
  11. That is the plan and I'd fully expect him to play.
  12. I don't think it is that straight forward. I am sure there will still be another few teams that make some serious effort to try and work out a trade. I expect it to be Dodgers or bust, but I think there is a chance a different team could acquire him. Dodgers make the most sense by far, but just because they got close to a trade doesn't mean they are the only option.
  13. Probably not a huge consideration. He seems to live a pretty casual life for someone rolling in $100mil+. I honestly think it comes down to location and then well after that winning. You are going to be pretty hard pressed to get him to accept a deal to the Astros. In his mind it is probably Miami, west coast, or Milwaukee. He has a family and they like Milwaukee. To get him to leave it will actually have to be a place he wants to be outside of just playing baseball. I don't really see him waiving the no trade clause. Also for the record a move to Texas wouldn't save him all that much. Probably about $3mil-$5mil saved from playing home games in Texas instead of Wisconsin. Of course he would be playing away games in different states which could/would move that number higher/lower. I guess we have a different opinion of what "all that much" is :-) $4mil to someone that has probably made $250mil+ between contracts/endorsements over his career...yah pretty minimal.
  14. No such downside to creating more revenue. Regarding outdating stuff...that is all apart of the money game too. Sure some people opt not to get things because they won't be "in", but so many will keep buying what is new they don't care about a few who don't end up buying.

  16. Always applaud teams that actually schedule good non conference games. Gets you prepared better and helps players grow. Its a good loss for Wisconsin. They can better see their weaknesses against good competition. Not to mention in the end the committee won't knock you too much for an early season loss, but a game vs. a highly ranked opponent will do you generous favors to your SOS whether you win/lose.
  17. The two things that really plagues this team consistently is having black hole positions and not enough depth. I think they have found and brought in enough difference making talent to be a really good team. I think they have found good players in the draft. However, to me, it seems there is always an area that is just brutal. At one point it was the RBs, then the OL, then the TEs, then the ILBs, and then the CBs. Sure Thompson fixes those holes by getting some good players(Lacy/Clinton Dix/etc.), but by the time they spend so many resources into it they neglect a different position or neglected getting depth for other positions.
  18. I don't think he is going to expand his list for the Braves. What exactly do they offer him? He has to move his family etc. to play for another loser? I think Braun genuinely likes Milwaukee and it would have to be a really nice destination for him to leave. That and/or a team actually primed to win. It's isn't like he is demanding to be traded or even wants it.
  19. I'd love the move if it wasn't so obvious. Good break for us and the running game.
  20. It didn't get much talk, but Braun already blocked a trade to the Braves. Not sure how far into the process it was, but Chipper Jones reached out to convince him and Braun had no interest in the Braves.
  21. That is the hardest part. Most people calling for the heads of management/coaching hated them before. They are trying to use the last few games as proof and I just don't think you can do that. Can someone please explain to me how you expect a team to win games when their injury report for the week looks like this. Most of these players are sizable contributors to major contributors. A good majority of these players didn't play last week, won't play for weeks, and even the ones that did play or will play soon will be very limited. Letroy Guion DT T.J. Lang G Jared Cook TE Randall Cobb WR J.C. Tretter C Clay Matthews LB Damarious Randall CB Micah Hyde S James Starks RB Quinten Rollins CB Eddie Lacy RB Sam Shields CB Jared Abbrederis WR Chris Banjo CB Yah the team is pretty bad right now and yes the secondary is pretty brutal. Why though? Because most of the talent is sitting on the bench in sweatpants. The running game was shattered when our two top backs went down. The defense went downhill once half the secondary and Matthews went down. You can't plan for things like this.
  22. An emergancy catcher? So basically a team would carry him for pinch hit duties? Honestly no team is going to find him even slightly attractive due to his ability(thats a stretch) to emergancy catch. No one signs a player or puts a player on their roster for their emergancy catching ability. I don't think he is ready or has the ceiling to be a Rule 5 pick. Maybe a team takes him, but I doubt he would last very long.
  23. Not a Wisconsin fan, but that team can't depend so much on the 3 ball. If you are going to live by the three you are going to die by the 3 and it won't take very long into the tourney for that to materialize. They outrebounded Creighton by a wide margin. They need to get into the paint and score easy baskets or get to the line. I know that is not particularily Wisconsin's type of game, but it still has to happen to some degree. Trying to win games shooting 39 3's probably isn't going to be a recipe for success.
  24. I guess the mods didn't like my first reply, but this thread isn't serious. Everyone here, even Briggs who started it, understands it would never happen and its just a "for fun" thread in the dead of the offseason. With some of the other ideas that Briggs puts out there, its rough to tell the 'just conversation' from "I seriously think the club needs to do this" Oh Briggs would love for the Brewers to do it. That is what he wants. However he understands it won't happen
