  1. This is why Stearns doesn't want to package Heffress or any pitcher with Lucroy without a hefty addition. Relievers are worth a ton this year.
  2. This is why we don't NEED a top pitching prospect for Lucroy. Just got one for Smith.
  3. Shocked since Smith has injury concerns. Wow
  4. ITS BICKFORD!!!! Bickford!!! And Susac!!!!!
  5. You're right. As long as they're in the Commisioner's office by the deadline they can be made. Therefore no one may get wind of them for some time after. Yup every year there is usually a few minor trades that come out 10-30minutes later.
  6. Yes that was actually rumored 5-10mins ago. TR Sullivan TR Sullivan‏ @Sullivan_Ranger Everything points to the Rangers still engaged with the Brewers on Lucroy but still hoping Rays will be reasonable on starting pitching Aug 1, 2016, 12:39 PM
  7. Non-waiver trade must be submitted by the deadline for sure, and it's possible they need to be approved by the league office by then. Lucroy not a candidate for a waiver trade, as his inexpensive contract makes somebody claiming him very likely. They don't need to be approved on the dot, but the final draft needs to be in commish office hands.
  8. It seems the market for Lucroy is rather small and the prospects the Indians were going to give up is probably the best you could do. Adding in one of Kaminsky/Hillman/Mathias/Kreiger/Plutko and Brewers adding in Thornburg evens out Lucroy essentially being a rental. How does this address the reason Lucroy vetoed? With this deal the option is becoming a player option so Lucroy is a rental.

Adding in one of Kaminsky/Hillman/Mathias/Kreiger/Plutko and Brewers adding in Thornburg evens out Lucroy essentially being a rental. Nice try, but that isn't happening.
  10. Need to be submitted to commish office.
  11. If I'm the Indians I tell the Brewers I will give them the same package of prospects plus a choice of 1 of 3 mid level guys to add in Thornburg to the deal. Make Lucroy's option a player option. That way when Lucroy denies the option the Indians could then QO him which he would deny. Pick up a first round pick in the 2017 draft. Eww? What? No! We aren't adding more to please the Indians. That would be idiotic of the Brewers.
  12. Just saw this and I couldn't help but think of you and what you just said. @BrewCrewBlue If you think the only names we've heard for the Lucroy trades are the only ones involved, you don't know how trades work.
  13. Why???? I don't know...scouts must like him?
  14. Brewers demanding Dilson Herrera from Mets.
  15. Stearns passed up a 5 tool OFer and/or pitching so he could pick up a second catcher of the future? Yeah, ok.......... Nope he actually didn't. They were never available.
  16. Rangers just lost out on Bruce and wanted to change their offer. They are probably really scrabbling to make a big deal now.
  17. Even if they thought Nottingham could stick at catcher(maybe they do) the still take Mejia. Mejia has above average defense and his bat might be above average too. He could be a Top 5 catcher some day. He is 100x better than Nottingham.
  18. If you think he can hit .270+
  19. Catcher was not the priority target. The Brewers (reportedly) asked for one of Zimmer/Frazier/Mejia. Two of those three guys are not catchers. The two teams agreed on Mejia. And none of it probably had anything to do with Nottingham - not sure why you love bagging on him so much. You can call it "bagging", its just stating facts. Maybe facts you dont want to hear, but facts nonetheless. Zimmer was obviously available, so it appears the Brewers chose catcher over OFer. They wouldn't have done that had they had a future All Star Catcher at AA. I want this link to where Zimmer was available for Lucroy. Please show me. You keep acting like one was available for Lucroy. Where is the proof?
  20. Rangers looking desperate for big time move and Sale looks rather unlikely. Wonder if Stearns is trying to pressure them into adding more?
  21. Astros could be in play. 10s Jon Heyman‏ @JonHeyman astros definitely looking at catching market. havent been tied to lucroy yet. norris, suzuki also out there.
  22. He used the B word: I would not interpret reported lack of TEX-MIL talk today as end of convo. Think MIL surveying market for ind. deals vs blockbuster with TEX
  23. I think they want Gallo or at least like him. Instead they probably wonder if they can get more value with seperate deals. Lucroy elsewhere and the pitcher elsewhere. Probably not a lot in the deal past Gallo.
  24. Let's be honest. If Gallo is on the table Lucroy won't be a Brewer at 3pm. Either he will be with Texas or someone else: It seems that Joey Gallo is on the table for Lucroy, as we’ve heard suggested before, but only if there’s an arm included in the deal as well, per Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News (via Twitter). It’s not clear exactly what pitcher that might be, but certainly there are several relievers that could make sense, as Grant explains. The Brewers could be looking into whether a preferable deal is available involving only the backstop, Haudricourt suggests on Twitter.
