  1. Mentioning Hank The Dog should be a bannable offense.
  2. Oh so the Brewers do something right and it is called [lucky(sort of)]?
  3. Yeah, I'm not sure where the 'the Brewers won't listen to offers on Segura' stuff is coming from. Even if it's been mentioned in an article I missed, the Brewers' front office has a long history of saying that they're 'not interested in moving so-and-so' followed by a trade of that player less than a week later. The Lucroy comment in the article yesterday seemed to me to be Tom writing his opinion, but I certainly could be wrong. Or not making a big move then suddenly we have Lohse/Garza. Anything a GM says should taken with a grain of salt. The only thing I have seen is that they are unlikely to trade these players and aren't looking to trade them. Which is exactly what I would expect coming from any organization. No need to shop players with 3 more years of control left. Let people come to you.
  4. Brewers listen to offers on every single player...every team listens. Don't fool yourself there. It is all a negotiating technique. I know I have said it a million times on here, but you DON'T go around shopping a player you don't need to trade(Lucroy, Segura, Nelson, Peralta). You let teams come to you! Nothing worse than going around saying such and such is available etc. You can do nothing other than hurt yourself.
  5. We both know that was a totally different situation. Was it? Everyone was assuming we were going to trade Fielder just like everyone's assuming we're going to be trading Gomez and then whatever vets we can for salary relief. Instead we traded for Marcum (say trading Coulter and maybe some other prospects could get us a Marcum) now go and try to pick up an ace with Arcia, Reed and any other prospects the team trading an ace would value. I obviously think it's unlikely but it's not so far out of the realm of possibilities that it's ridiculous to suggest it. I see what you are trying to say, but it is two entirely different directions. 2010 had a lot of talent and an OK record. Quite easily could compete with a couple moves. 2015 is a garbage aging/old team that is about to have quite a few holes and one of the 5 worst records in all of baseball. Doug Melvin wouldn't trade a decent prospect last July while in first place. I doubt he will suddenly trade the farm after what will be a year and a half of bottom dweller baseball. It is so far out there I would be safe saying there is no chance.
  6. Well to be fair, remember there was no way Melvin was going to trade Escobar. We both know that was a totally different situation.
  7. I am about done turning this garbage on TV. It is a complete joke. Idiotic play after idiotic play.
  8. Is this the same guy in LF who has been misplaying balls this whole series? Awful play out there for the Rockies.
  9. Yah it was that intentional. If you don't think so that's fine. He was sneaky about it, but he went out of his way to make sure that hit him. As far as your second paragraph(playing the what if game) it doesn't make what Tabata did any better. What Tabata did was WRONG...no matter what the outcome is. He costed a pitcher the chance at a perfect game...did he cost him a perfect game? We will never know, but regardless he was still in the wrong.
  10. Slot values aren't fair because the are put in place not choosen. The other problem is that in the draft you have no choice but to sign with that team. If there was no draft and it was just a big FA these #1 choice would get massive deals...MASSIVE. I will say this though. This is not a clear win for the Braves. It is just a good sign that they are trying to improve their farm. If Toussaint never pans out it is horrible for them. But for now it will look great because they are trying to improve their team. As for the D Backs whether or not Toussaint pans out it will always look quite dumb. They valued $10mil over a very good prospect and helping the team in the future. They didn't really need that money off the books. Going straight to the owners pocket.
  11. Wait someone said something about trading Arcia? Even for the most negative and biggest Melvin hater that is the most completely ridiculous thing I have ever heard. That doesn't even make sense. Why are you even a fan at that point?
  12. This right here. You play to win the game. Anyone who has a problem with what he did should go back and make sure the second base was touched every time the Nats turned a double play. Once again, this all falls on the umpire. He's the one that didn't enforce the rule. But you see the issue isn't that they didn't call the rule(because I have only seen it called once on Nyjer Morgan.) since no umpire calls it. The problem is Tabata went out of his way to make sure it hit him on an elbow pad. I have never seen someone try that hard to get hit. I can agree that he was doing everything to get on base, but that doesn't make it right. I don't see anyone prancing around supporting steroid use because they are doing everything they can to win. Would you support intentionally injuring Trout so you have a better chance to beat the Angels? How about a cleats up slide into second? It isn't as severe or as frowned upon, but it is still wrong. It should still be looked at as the wrong thing to do. If I was Max I wouldn't care though. If someone has to jump in front of my pitch just to get on base that is pretty awesome.
  13. "Young" help Pretty sure they aren't looking for a young MLB piece for K-Rod...as no team will give up that for an old closer. Not to mention trading our closer would not be a sign to improve for next year. OR the fact that there is no hole at 1B or CF for next year. OR the fact that any team trading for K-Rod is in it for this year and trading away a young MLB piece would not make sense.
  14. So much for playing the game right. While minor that is not how to play the game. Intentionally moving to get hit is just bad baseball.
  15. Dissapointing for Tabata to do that. One of the worst leaning HBPs I have ever seen. He had to come way down with an open elbow to get that on an elbow pad. I totally support trying to the last out and not handing him the game...but that? No
  16. Wow Tabata is a complete loser. How can you lean into that? Just lame
  17. What channel? MLB.com is showing it free when he pitches. At least that what they did for the 8th half inning.
  18. If you would like to watch some real MLB level pitching Max is at it again. Game has featured some perfect game saving plays. Only 3 outs from history. And the best consecutive starts ever.
  19. Difference is holding on to Liriano costed pennies. Holding on to Garza(assuming a team would trade for him and his contract...doubtful) costs you $30mil or something. He has little value even when pitching like the past Garza. If a team were to trade for him there is pretty minimal risk in doing so from the Brewers perspective.
  20. Helllllllllllllooooo MEATBALL!!!! The Lohse Special
  21. Realistically speaking I will take Mitch Nay for K-Rod. That is probably fair value for a guy like K-Rod. Not sure we could get something more exciting than that. On the bright side the rumor of looking for CF prospects should quiet the "Melvin is going to extend Gomez to some ridiculous deal into his mid-30s" talk. I also don't think there isn't anything wrong with "looking" for certain positional prospects. It isn't like they are going to take a C prospect instead of a B prospect because of their position. If they have comparable prospects they just prefer certain positions.
  22. Why exactly are we comparing a 28 year old getting a $1mil contract to someone getting $13mil for three more years and 31 years old? I am not saying Garza is washed up or we should give up on him, but that comparison is extremely troubling for me to understand. If someone took Garza and his whole contract I wouldn't be sad if he turned it around. Because shedding that money would be really nice for the Brewers. Now if we are paying half of it or more to dump him then yah too early to give up on him.
