  1. This entire thing is based on the original agreement that both parties agreed to when the stadium was built. It was apart of the joint venture that pre dates Attanasio owning the team. Now how they go about this in 10-15 years, that’s a different story. I’m sure it will go however baseball economics and how recent stadiums were built are based off of.
  2. One win is not going to do it. That’s basically saying they blow the next three games launching them well out of the picture…and beating Minnesota ain’t going to bring them back into it. If they are currently a last four in team today, two wins probably keeps them there to end the regular season. I think they would be much to on the fringe to go winless in the Big Ten tourney though. They are probably going to need a third win, be that the regular season or in the conference tourney. If not another team that actually looks like they want to be in the tourney will bypass them.
  3. I read this and thought to myself, there is no point wasting your time putting together a well thought out post with data. The people you are directly it at probably thought they could have spent $50mil more last year. Thus, even that $132mil was a joke to them.
  4. Not, of course not. Rosiak's comments basically point to Burnes just being a rich cry-baby intentionally being a douche so people feel bad for him.
  5. Mark could run the team like the Marlins and he would still have the same franchise value and probably even bigger yearly profits.
  6. Please list them, I would like to see who these Brewers players are. The only one I can think of is Hader and he wasn't even mad at the Brewers...he was mad at the system.
  7. I mean anything the Brewers said was going to be negative from Burnes POV and something he could make out to be more than it is. If a player wants to go challenge the team over a few hundred thousand dollars, you get to hear about your shortcoming and limitations. What else would one reasonably expect to hear? His comment is obviously directed at something, but we don’t know what it was. Team isn’t going to create drama talking to the media so Burnes knows there will be no clarification or rebuttal.
  8. Did they post the transcripts for the arbitration hearing? Did the team make some explanation? I don’t think Corbin Burnes comments should really be taken as gospel, especially when he was paraphrasing his take on what their comments meant/were inferring. He also said the Brewers offer was terrible (clearly it wasn’t) and that the two-year deal was also a joke (I highly doubt it). It’s more likely Burnes is like the rest of the upset small majority that are sensitive, mad at the arbitration system from the get-go, and/or lack a basic understanding of how these things play out.
  9. Slightly different scenario though. They were looking pretty good when they dumped Hader and seemingly were going to contend in 2023. With Burnes…that’s like the start of a rebuild/retool. I don’t think it would take much to trade him, if we were out of a playoff spot come near the deadline. But to answer the question, I’d guess a solid 75% chance he stays all year. MLB.com recently had a projection of us winning the NL Central…so the odds we look that bad at the deadline is probably not very likely.
  10. Our payroll hasn’t even changed that much, I honestly don’t know why people are still running with that. Also, aren’t people comparing an end of 2022 payroll to a not even start of 2023 payroll? If we are competing we would surely add at the deadline.
  11. I mean this is clickbait..,and a different article had some quote where he said the Packers were convinced Love is the next coming of Rodgers or some comical statement. And the Packers would make Rodgers the backup if he insisted on returning? I mean…come on. if anyone watches the entire podcast, feel free to give us a breakdown. I’m not going to, because that is exactly what they are trying to do here…get clicks.
  12. Wisconsin has not beaten a likely tourney team since…December 11th. Not really a good look.
  13. You would be correct. One son in particular that he has said is a bit more interested/involved in things and wants to have the team someday. He is actually at games fairly often. Maybe it doesn’t happen, but literally everything Attanasio says and does points to him enjoying baseball and being an owner. Our payroll is only as high as it is because Attanasio legitimately enjoys the team and likes seeing a competitive team. I have no doubt a different owner would be much worse circumstances across the board. This article is one of the biggest reaches in forum history.
  14. Yes, let’s try to compare Burnes to the average joe as he makes more money regardless than any person would make in a few lifetimes. I am sure these are very comparable situations. 🤢
  15. I’m not saying their schedule isn’t tough. They don’t have much for easy games, much like the Big 12 (though nowhere near the insanity of the Big 12). But the Big Ten has one in the Top Ten and the one team there may be trending out. Most of the teams are on the Badgers level, thus, fending your way to the bubble should not be a crazy surprise. They beat Michigan, okay cool, at home against a nearly even opponent. That really isn’t that game changing. The next three weeks are more telling and will probably define their chances at the tourney. Can you defend your home court against (on paper) better opponents. Also, can they beat a similar opponent on the road in Michigan. If they beat Michigan they likely can have a winning record in the road with a MN win…that will go a long way on a resume. It is a nice season by Gard if he can get them to the tourney…but I gotta imagine that takes 4/5 wins barring a really notable conference tourney run.
  16. Uhhh….what? The state has to get back their money every single year for 13 years to break even? I must really be missing something…not to mention income tax i a sliver of the economic impact a pro sports team has.
  17. I’m not getting political. AmFam isn’t Foxconn. Nor are the current elected officials involved in that…nor is that my point. Nor do you probably have even a sliver of knowledge in the Foxconn original deal or how it has actually transpired in the years after.
  18. You bring value, you get value in return. Look, rich people getting tax breaks and these pro teams garnering hundreds of millions in support looks terrible…but it is what it is. If the Brewers bring in say $250mil in income tax revenue and they demand $200mil in taxpayer money or they will leave…are you really saying no? $50mil in gain sounds better than zero. You just trust your elected officials have the common sense to actually research the money they are giving up is actually causing the gain that is projected. This one time cost is likely easily worth the cost of keeping the Brewers around another 13 years. Even after costing way more in the end, building Miller Park is arguably still a huge economic win. The reality is if we don’t pony up money some other city will. The demand for a pro sports team is still much higher the the supply. Negotiate the best you can to keep the team and still come out ahead economically. Which this deal definitely seems to do that.
  19. What is lol?
  20. According to MLBTR: 2021 - 4 players won / 5 teams won 2020 - 5 players won / 7 teams won 2019 - 6 players won / 4 teams won It appears you are wrong.
  21. Boo Hoo, cry me a river. I don't really care if his feelings are hurt. He wasn't ever signing an extension here, it doesn't matter. Lets all feel bad for a guy about to make $10mil because he couldn't stand hearing he choked down the stretch, was simply average, and not worth the bigger arbitration raise he wanted. A real competitor, leader, and best player on a team would agree with how much he blew our chances and wasn't as good as he is/can be. Must have hung around Hader too much.
  22. I am probably on an island, but I like the arbitration system. Not sure how you really could do something better, that both sides would realistically accept. It gives teams a few years for the player to prove themselves. Which does a pretty good job making sure guys don't get overpaid too early in arby. Then the player gets steady raises for 3-4 years. It is great for players because the system is able to follow baseball salaries and trends in real time. So the system is consistent and fair from CBA start to end. It is basically a rookie contract based on performance the first 6 years instead of based on draft position like other leagues. The only problem is when it takes a guy till he is 27+ to become an established MLB player...then arbitration eats into your 30s. But those cases aren't overly common and that's on you for taking so long.
  23. The current makeup of the team aids to the patient approach. More pitches, more walks, higher OBP. I don’t know we would really benefit by reducing the other teams pitch count by being more aggressive.
  24. Their attendance seems nice at face value, but the Mallards benefit by only playing during summer and not having to sell tickets to April/May games or to games after school is back in session. Going to a AAA game and going to a Mallards game are very different things. Ticket prices alone are 2x as expensive in many seating areas/cases. Instead of convincing someone season tickets are $375 for a nice seat behind homeplate, they are $1,300 a seat. I am sure prices are vastly different in many other cases too. I would also venture to guess the facilities are way under MiLB AAA standards. A lot of teams have 3,500 AAA attendance, but it is simply because someone invested the money to have a properly sized stadium and good enough facilities. From an attendance standpoint there are plenty of great locations, many probably way better than Madison, if they were willing to invest the money to keep up with MLBs ridiculous standards. Trying to keep up with MLBs demands and have an organization profitable enough for all those costs is pretty hard to do. But it is kind of a moot point due to the contracts for MiLB teams. A team would have to move to Madison and it wouldn't be our current affiliate as the current affiliate has some of the better attendance in MiLB. The Brewers would likely have to buy the AAA team and then basically build an entirely new stadium...all to just poach off of the MLB team for fans/attendance.
  25. That is what Appleton is for.
