  1. I was basing it off no elite teams. Every game is very winnable. They aren’t playing a bunch of elite teams twice a year to really rack up losses like that. Now on the flip side, yes, I acknowledge they also don’t much for cupcakes either. They brought back three starters from a team that was a three seed last year, all of which were decent contributors. Acting like Gard deserves a statue because he has the team on the bubble is really glorifying things. Most teams in the country lose a couple starters…often times some of their better players.
  2. There is a zero percent chance the Brewers offer him a QO if he returns to form. Because even the best ever of Winker in his career was less than 450 ABs and like 110 games. He doesn't really have much of a track record for full years worth of games. I don't think they want the risk if he can't stay healthy and prove to do it over an entire year. I think it is generous to call that returning to form...because the track record is so short of him doing it. Now if he goes and puts that stat line up over 150 games...yah, they would give him the QO regardless if they want him. They could just trade him...easily. Of course, it is really wishful thinking he can do that regardless of half a dozen offseason surgeries.
  3. To be honest...we still haven't gotten Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, or Lil Nas X. So much potential left out to really have the Boomer slamming beer and wings in utter disgust. Sometimes I wonder if they are trying to attract people that wouldn't usually watch the Super Bowl or if they want old middle aged men angrily typing about it on social media for free attention. I hear and learn more about the upcoming halftime show from people complaining about it beforehand. It is like a win-win, I think they actually hope football fans hate it.
  4. Gard returned three major starters and the Big Ten has ended up pretty 'meh' across the board outside of Purdue. This seems about what one would expect.
  5. We must be talking about to work or something, right? If not, then no, I do not care about presenting myself and your opinion of how I look while grocery shopping. I will be comfortable and not hot...thank you very much.
  6. Packers fans are so stupid they just willingly donate to the team in exchange for a piece of paper telling them how dumb they are.
  7. A few concerns: #1 He stole 19 bases last year despite 675 PAs. Bigger bases may help...but that helps everyone where 30 would just be his new 19. He could attempt more steals...but likely be less efficient in doing so. #2 Yelich has hit .250 the last two years. .310 seems pretty unrealistic. #3 Why do you think he can hit .310, but now he is going to walk half as much resulting in basically no OBP improvement? Now I am fine with a speedy Yelich...but he is also 30+ years old. If that is his bread and butter...it won't last long.
  8. Quit while there is still a chance.
  9. Did you read your own article you linked? The stadium board decided not to do any kind of study when they stopped the tax after 2020. It isn't inflation. The difference is the $80mil figure had zero research and just a "yup, that should be good." and now they have done studies to figure out they were actually completely incompetent. The Brewers study that was presented to the state was somewhere around $400mil. THEN the state did one that said it should actually be closer to $600mil. Not only are the Brewers not going with the higher figure, but they also aren't even asking for anywhere near the projected costs. Before you start writing your letter you should know "not give them another penny' is not even an option. The state can either come to an agreement using state dollars or the 5 county sales tax can come back. So instead of using state dollars (that would be less than the state collects on income tax related to the Brewers) residents of 5 counties would get billed. That sound like a good idea? This is easily the best course of action. Not only does it save the state money at face value now...but by coming to this agreement they would be able to wipe their hands clean. Thus, any type of inflation or construction cost price hikes that will surely happen aren't the states problem. The Brewers would not be able to go after public funds anymore without a new agreement and legislation etc. . So this is actually the agreement you want if you don't want the Brewers to ever get a penny again.
  10. The internet (women and Rihanna fangirls) were calling it historical. Like...it was something to put in a history book. One person exclaimed, "I can't believe I just watched actual history in real life." But that is why they did it, women got glued to the TV to see it. At least at the get together I was at they all freaking out hearing their HS/college jams get performed again. Most of the purpose of the halftime show is creating some hype around it for no apparent reason. Whether it is even good is almost pointless. You already committed to turning on the TV and eating cheese dip for 3 hours. I get your point, it doesn't really cater to the male audience. Especially middle aged or higher...but they simply don't need to cater to that demographic. The targeted demographic also probably doesn't want to hear Rihanna cover your decades band either. Personally, I just watch it and laugh at whatever weird meme worthy thing is about to happen. Marshmallow army or a dancing shark.
  11. People will complain about a rich owner or rich sports team getting tax dollars, but that is the reality of business. That isn't unique to sports teams. They bring in hundreds of millions over a few decades in income tax revenue alone. That is before any kind of economic impact to the area etc. Having the opportunity to extend the lease by renovation and not a new stadium is an easy opportunity to jump at. The Brewers have actually been very accommodating and flexible with both this and the renovation in Maryvale. The Brewers seem to have a genuine interest in updating AmFam to make it last much longer.
  12. You aren't the target audience, they don't care if you like it. You turned on the game to watch football, they don't need to make the halftime show your idol from your teen years that is now 85 years old. The halftime show and the commercials are not to attract the average football fan to turn on a game they were already turning on anyway.
  13. Okay here me out, imagine if the word 'Article' wasn't included. What exactly is the difference? They are basically just threads with a better opener than a normal thread. I think the issue could be changed to help the forum a bit. First off, I do see an issue that a lot of these articles are covering something already waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay gone over already. Why is an article being written and approved about the Contreras trade, Winker acquisition, or something related to the shift. Then one guy is grading the offseason and another is questioning if it was a failure or not. I mean, really? I also question the frequency of articles. Multiple articles a day with C grade quality? It feels very forced and not at all caring about quality. Is anything actually denied? The articles and the concept aren't the problem. It is the topics being chosen and the approval of some shotty work. I view the articles much like just a regular thread starter....but really, the expectation should be better than that. I don't think people really want to hear some guys opinion on a topic that has already been beat to death for months. That person should just go make a simple response to an already existing post...not waste time writing an article. We all have already made our opinions known.
  14. That honestly isn’t accurate at all. One quick glance and it appears most of the popular discussions are articles, not posted threads.
  15. I don’t really want MLB controlled broadcasting rights. I don’t like Bally, but I just don’t know if I really like the idea of MLB running things
  16. Don’t worry, it’s just a Quadrant 2 loss.
  17. They only have 7 home wins, for a 7-4 overall record. That’s pretty bad, especially considering how many mid majors teams tend to play at home. I don’t think there is a team with a comparably bad home record in the bracket picture right now. I could have missed someone, but I didn’t see any. Their road record is decent, but 4-4 isn’t exactly earth shattering. Pretty average for many of the tourney teams. Certainly they nabbed a handful of neutral court games early on. They are on the bubble as is…and I don’t think coasting to a 4-3 record the rest of the way is a great way to get off the wrong side of that bubble.
  18. You are comparing Woodruff's numbers in his first year getting a starting rotation gig to Castillo's 5th year. That isn't comparable and Woodruff putting up those numbers in his first opportunity to start is actually incredibly impressive. There is literally not a single non-counting statistic Castillo has over Woodruff on Bref over their careers. Some are close, but others Woodruff has a noticeable advantage (ERA, FIP, WHIP, K9, BB9)
  19. The Badgers home record is pathetic. 6 Q1 wins is cool and all…but go look at where all the other 7-4 8-5 etc home record schools are. They are also not in the bracket picture. The absolute worst things you can do is lose at home. The quadrant thing is pretty overdone anyway for major conference teams. The Badgers opportunities to actually get a Q3 or Q4 loss is nearly impossible outside of the mid majors. The bad teams in the major conferences get propped up big time. If the Badgers played the Minnesota game this week, it wouldn’t even be a Q4 loss…Nebraska wouldn’t even be a Q3 loss. Badgers need at least four wins…but even that is really skirting along the bubble and very well possible on the outside looking in. If they go 4-3 and lose to both Purdue/Rutgers…what’s so impressive? I’m guessing they would be in the same position as they are now and need some defining win in the B10 tourney to get a spot.
  20. I mean kids work in sweatshops making clothes for 5 cents a day…so it could be worse, right?
  21. Apologies, I must have missed Brandon Woodruff put up a near 1.4 WHIP and 4 ERA in 2021. If Brandon woodruff is available for 6/$120mil and we haven’t gotten it done…this franchise is pretty darn stupid. I’m guessing the real reason is the fact it would take way more than that.
  22. Woodruff is better, has a better recent track record, and will hit FA going into age 32...not 36. More like 6/$180mil as a starting point. Probably would want 8 years on any extension and still probably want near $30mil avg, If Woodruff would take 6/$120mil the Brewers would have done it long long ago.
  23. Right, I acknowledge that. Padres are basically banking on 2021 being a blip, throwing away 2018 due to injury, 2019 coming back from injury, and him staying healthy. If you do all that, this only seems like a poor decision purely based on signing a 36.5 year old pitcher to a 6 year contract.
  24. I wouldn't give him that if he was 30. Since 2017 he really hasn't been that good. The shortened 2020 and last year are his only great years. Considering he is already well past his prime...yikes.
  25. Feels like we continued our strange not really trying to legit World Series contender...but also not doing the opposite. At face value I would give them a B-...but at the end of the year I am betting I will change that to a D- for not trading any of Adames/Burnes/Woodruff with 2 years of control left. We best be at minimum winning the division or making at least the NLCS. A wild card birth just to quickly be booted would be a waste of time with this talent.
