  1. Shift was never going to die…but surprised to see this. I’m guessing teams will heavily try it out in ST and see what the results are. There is a big drawback…but still unlikely players will try to adjust and take advantage. Saying, “Oh just hit it to LF and get a triple.” isn’t how it works. Anyone who has played baseball knows just hitting it the other direction isn’t simple and trying to change your approach to do so can actually have a negative impact in the grander scheme. Still, I can’t see this becoming common occurrence. If this goes wrong a guy is going to second…maybe even third. This even opens up a huge hole in the power alley in RF too, not just LF
  2. Right, so your kid has already died of boredom about 6 times before the difference between 2:40 and 3:00 happens. I have taken my son before…I don’t think 20 minutes is any better. When I had him and he was sub 5 years old I’d leave early anyway as it was just easier that way. I guess it’s 20 less minutes I have to ask myself why I was so dumb and brought a 3 year old to a MLB game.
  3. Getting drafted by the Packers has to be this guys absolute worst nightmare.
  4. This has sped up games by about 20minutes. People are kinda missing the point though. It isn’t about making the games shorter, it’s about making them feel shorter. Watching pitchers work more like Brent Suter is going to make the game feel 100x faster even though it really is only 12% shorter. Especially important when games last past 10pm frequently. I haven’t watched much baseball on TV since like 2019 because it got insufferable to watch and it felt like it took 6 hours. In reality games weren’t getting that much longer, it just felt like it with the constant 10 second fiddling around. People will watch baseball for 3 hours…they won’t watch a guy throw to first 5 times in a row, Ryan Braun circle home plate three times, constant mound visits, etc.
  5. $200mil for a guy who strikes out almost 30% of the time and failed to manage a .300 OBP last year? A small market cannot afford to take that risk. I’d rather throw $50mil+ at Jackson Chourio.
  6. Those mid-major conference tourneys are what makes March Madness great though…and I’m sure it shoots viewership through the roof. Considering most of those mid-majors are destined to get absolutely rocked in the first round or at best make the round of 32…why not make some excitement getting into the tourney? I don’t think there is a problem with a team having a losing conference record, but sometimes teams really get propped up because their schedule is crazy tough. There is no merit to thinking sub .500 team shouldn’t make the tourney. Iowa state has beat Kansas, Kansas State, Baylor, TCU twice, and Texas. Going to be pretty darn hard to get manage a .500 record when you play Top 10 teams for 8 of those games. Sure, Iowa State is probably the most extreme example. But I’d take a middling Power 5 team over some second place team from the horizon league or similar. We already waste a spot every year on some garbage Horizon League champion…no need to make it more.
  7. I bet Wisconsin would have a bunch of Q3 losses. They have only had one of those games all year…and lost. Wisconsin has played twice as many Q2 games (5-5), but Marquette is 5-0 in those games, so I think Marquette has proven themselves in that regard. One of the biggest things about the Badgers resume is no bad losses, which is completely misleading. Of those 6 opportunities, 5 were Q4 teams. A P5 team winning a Q4 game at home is worthy of a participation trophy at most.
  8. So #6 seed Iowa State should not be eligible and instead we should put in more UW-Milwaukee’s of the world…? Yikes. How about Wisconsin just doesn’t make the tourney because they aren’t one of the best 68 teams. Why this eventual 14-loss Badgers team deserves a spot in the bracket (well play-in) is kind of mythical. Playing in one of the premier basketball conferences allows way to much generosity sometimes.
  9. I’m not comparing it specifically to driving a car and hurting people. Simply that rosters are full of guys with criminal records playing in the league. Many of which have domestic violence and stuff like that. Also, he didn’t kill anyone. He was not behind the wheel, he didn’t hit the other driver off the road. The other vehicle crashed due to the poor driving decisions and extreme level intoxication of the other driver. If street racing another car left you subject to being responsible for the lives in the other vehicle I’m sure he would have gotten charged with it. Instead he got what he did, reckless driving and street racing. Also, I never said he didn’t commit a crime, I don’t know where you got that notion. Dude is an idiot, no doubt.
  10. Seems like maybe teams finally figured out how to beat the rest of the team not named Edey. Because you aren't wrong, the rest of that team is not very good. I thought the same, almost losing to Wisconsin...yikes. I am guessing the Final Four will be lucky to feature a single 1 seed. Neither Purdue nor Kansas has a great make-up of a Final Four squad. Houston is definitely the best chance to get there.
  11. Well…the UWM part aged well, the rest did not.
  12. That last shot was just LOL…almost 5 seconds, literally not reason you can’t get down the court for a real shot. Entire team left the poor guy to helpless at mid court. This has got to be a situation a team practices a ton…no excuse for no attempt at a real shot. Badgers had a chance to solidify themselves in the bracket, but blew it. Good news, I doubt this really changes their situation a ton. They will need to beat Minnesota though and then probably win at least their opening conference tourney game to squeak in.
  13. Loads of guys make incredibly dumb and illegal decisions…many of which actually hurt people (directly themselves) and intentionally hurt them to boot. That was the point. Not that other guys are also involved in speed racing in Athens, Georgia the day after a championship parade with a 2021 ford expedition involved at 2am with a full moon reflecting off the windows onto the sidewalk. He directly wasn’t the one that killed anyone and didn’t have a .20 BAC while killing them. How much should he be responsible for someone else’s epically dumb decision? A team is rolling the dice drafting him, sure, but NFL rosters aren’t short on guys with criminal records…many of which include charges much worse than reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.
  14. I’d draft him. Not like this type of stuff doesn’t fit in with what loads of guys do every year in the NFL. Probably wouldn’t even get suspended.
  15. Milwaukee has lost to them both times they played. Probably why Wright State is getting a slight advantage. That along with Wright State just being much more relevant in recent history.
  16. One quick look at Venezuelen salaries tells me Chourio already has more money than he and the next five generations would ever know what to do with. Being such a highly rated prospect, there is no way he doesn't get a few cracks at the MLB level to probably double or even triple his career earnings. Lewis Brinson has seen time in 6 different seasons at this point.
  17. As I said prior in this thread, this isn't exactly how it was. Arcia was a highly rated prospect because, at the time, the bar for SS's was pathetically low. Back then SS was the thinest position in baseball, pretty much no one had a SS that could hit. It is how Yuni B had a MLB job year after year. An elite glove and any pulse on offense to be above average was going to place you Top 5 in the game at the most premium position.
  18. The scrub league tourney's are always nice as they start a bit earlier and winning it is the difference between the tourney and your season being done. The #1 seeds seem to be almost set. Alabama/Houston/Kansas are all pretty destined to stay in their positions. The final spot has a lot of options though. Something tells me Purdue is not going to manage to cling to that spot the way they have played recently. Likely goes to a #1 seed that ends up winning their conference tourney. Though if Kansas State/Texas/Baylor win the conference tourney they might slide into the 1-seeds. The 2 and 3 seed lines could be really surprising at bracket reveal time. Right now it is chalk full of regular season conference champions and the three Big 12 schools behind Kansas. ESPN heavily favors the Big 12 schools, but I wonder if the bracket will really shake out that way.
  19. The downside of holding a guy down for a few weeks and signing them to a 7 year extension before proving anything is not really even remotely close to similar. Keston proved himself over 300 ABs and he actually isn't very good.
  20. I think the Cardinals may have Washington beat. Treatment of Families : F Nutrition: F- Weight Room: F- Training Room: F- Locker Room: F The only things that received good grades were the staff and the travel. For staff it really isn't saying much as only 5 occasions in those two categories was a team a C+ or worse.
  21. The Rodgers saga is honestly just comical at this point. Every day is like three new ridiculous articles all with differing opinion. No matter how much Rodgers says they are all a bunch of garbage the entire world runs with each one like he is going to play for the Packers, be traded, and retire all during the 2023 season. *Rodgers has connecting flight through EWR* Media: "Rodgers trade to New York Jets is near completion!!!!"
  22. Nope, won't let you...not on Google. I believe there might have been a way to forget all the WiFis on each individual device, change the password, and then reconnect them without a factory reset. However, that really doesn't make it any more convenient in the grand scheme as I didn't have any custom settings to avoid resetting. Most of my smart lights are through a different 'hub', but it connects into the Google Home. Same deal though. Had to forget every single light and sensor to reconnect. No other way around it.
  23. I changed my WiFi password and every single smart device required me to totally reset it and go through the entire connection process like it was brand new. Every speaker, every bulb, the doorbell, the doorbell speakers. So much for being smart...
  24. Considering Milwaukee doesn't have a football stadium, AmFam plays a pretty important role in attracting bigger events. Concerts have gotten pretty common in recent years, plus the soccer games they have hosted. I wonder if they started getting more aggressive scheduling these types of events knowing they were going to need additional money and wanted to show AmFam was a versatile asset to Milwaukee outside of baseball. This year alone will feature at least three concerts. It is too bad it really isn't cost effective to heat it in the winter.
