  1. Then probably have 25%+ of the payroll going to Christian Yelich and prospects that flop. All while having no cheap pre-arby contracts on the books.
  2. Doubt it. Imagine being able to sit on a $111mil pile of cash and comfortably just play. Instead of playing three years just to get a couple million hoping you don’t end up sucking and/or have some career altering injury. Also, if he is in any position to think about regretting this deal..,he will be hitting FA to probably go make half a billion. At which point I don’t see what there is to complain about.
  3. Considering how Kansas didn’t get much love with their bonkers Q1 wins, I’m guessing Wisconsin was quite out of it with all the Q1 wins people thought could carry Wisconsin into the bracket. I wish they could just rank out past just 4 teams that missed.
  4. I mean, true, but also…you could say that of any team at the bubble in a major conference. You could also point out the plethora of close wins the Badgers won. Had so many of those gone there way, we would be wondering if they are even .500.
  5. Right, it isn’t realistic. It wouldn’t actually happen. The Brewers already do a good job avoiding arby hearings. One single guy had to go to one and we had a boatload of them eligible this year. Other high profile players included. The reason we ended up in a hearing with Burnes is because of Burnes.
  6. D Backs wanted to make this dude their franchise so bad they gave him this solidly stupid contract and buy out a measly three years of FA for their time…? I guess this is the cost to lock up a player instantly when they have absolutely zero interest getting locked up early. You have to offer them something just plain ridiculous it is impossible to even turn down. If I am offering Chourio $100mil+, the contract is 20 years long and he is a career Brewer.
  7. Arizona beats UCLA and Marquette wins the Big East tourney. The 2-seed line should be quite interesting. Maybe Purdue will lose tomorrow to make just a sliver of mystery with the 1-seed line.
  8. Not sure Favre is loved more than Rodgers at this point. Not after his whole tax fraud thingy. I also for the life of me don’t know why Rodgers really wants to play for the Jets…or why the Jets want him. Just weird.
  9. Texas/Marquette/UCLA/Arizona is what it should be if Arizona wins tonight. Swap Arizona with Gonzaga if AZ loses. UCLA and Arizona could commit friendly fire though and let Gonzaga in regardless. The 1-seeds seem pretty obvious with no chance of drama: Kansas/Alabama/Houston/Purdue. They all made the tourney final for their respective conferences…and rarely does a top seed get penalized for losing there. Texas may have had a chance to steal a top seed, but Kansas played it like a meaningless game so I doubt the committee is going to give them a ton of credit for winning.
  10. Maybe with all the extra picks the Bears can draft a franchise QB. That would be a good start.
  11. CBS and ESPN both have their respective odd inclusions on the 2-line. ESPN continues to keep Baylor there and CBS likes Gonzaga. CBS does have Marquette as a two though. A lot of big games today for that area of the bracket. An Arizona lose would be huge for Marquette.
  12. Well, I was not inferring that. Had Baylor gone on to make the Big 12 final and/or win they likely would have been a #2 seed. Same is probably true for Kansas State. They both lost though. A single H2H match-up win in November would be almost entirely meaningless on a resume. Whether by 2 points or 26 points. Baylor was a great win for Marquette. Baylor has 3+ of those kind of wins though and it doesn’t require going to the year 2022 to find. Had Baylor or Kansas St made the final or won the Big 12 tourney they would have added another 2+ wins better than anything Marquette has. They didn’t though and it probably means Marquette controls their own fate at a #2 seed. I doubt there is much reason for Gonzaga to be over this if they win and I doubt they can really reason Baylor when they couldn’t even manage a semi final appearance.
  13. An excuse? Plenty of good teams that have been just impressive or have just as good of resumes. Texas is an easy pick over them. Purdue/UCLA is an easy pick over them. Then you have Arizona, who is about to make their final in easy fashion…and there is also Gonzaga, who already won their conference tourney. If Arizona wins and Marquette loses…I’m not sure they get a #2…if both win/lose, who knows. Baylor/Kansas St both bowing out of the tourney helped out…but the water is still murky on what seed line Marquette will end up on. If Arizona beats UCLA and Marquette loses, I don’t see a reason they shouldn’t get pushed down to a #3 seed.
  14. North Carolina went from making a championship game and returning 4 starters....to somehow not making the tourney at all.
  15. People were mentally married to Favre. Part of that is probably the farm boy relatable vibe, but probably largely due to the fact the franchise was nothing for a really long time before him. Clinging to Favre through his decline was just much more exciting because even a crummy Favre would have a cult following. I mean people ran out and became Jets fans and then later bought into the purple Vikings jerseys. Rodgers would probably have the same weird following if Favre never came before him. However, I doubt people go nuts to become Jets fans this time around. Also, the media and social media. I am not sure Favre would do too well in today's spotlight. It is just different times.
  16. The Bucks can also be a perennial Conference finals team because of a single player and a half competent front office to fill out the rest of the roster. Money does not quite as easily buy success as it does in the NBA.
  17. Do you worry about anything other than Mark Attanasio’s current location? It is kinda creepy man. I wish the mods would cut down on this. Think Attanasio is a bum, fine, but the same repetitive weird post just to invite some kind of no constructive fight in the comment section gets old. There are many posters here displeased with Attanasio, but they at least try to make constructive opinions. Not just ask where he is.
  18. Marquette finally has a good year for the first time in two decades and now their fans think they are going to be a perennial Top 10 team in the country. Lol As an outsider I always find this rivalry odd and resorts to Marquette fans desperately clinging to their one sport they have. I guess it isn’t surprising they act like it is Christmas morning when they might end the year ranked. Hasn’t happened in a decade. Fans may hang a banner if they make the Sweet 16.
  19. Gard feels in a really similar position to the one PC was. Considering PC got booted largely due to recruiting woes, I have to imagine Gard is less than safe. Though, PC issues seemed to be a lot more dysfunctional and just plain garbage coaching in that regard. I never thought Gard was that good and still don’t. However, as I have said before, I don’t think replacing him is going to grab an obvious upgrade. The basketball program isn’t irrelevant, but isn’t what the football program is. I doubt they can attract a flashier coach. They would have to bank on a coach with a different mindset and way of doing things to improve things. You aren’t going to go grab the Fickel of college basketball and have him load up a wagon of stuff to bring.
  20. Yelich’s extension came out of nowhere in ST…so anything is possible.
  21. Here is the story: Most annoying fans are from large market teams. Worst behaved fans are from large market teams. Most annoying players are on large market teams or have previously played trash cans as an instrument. Most annoying managers are from large market teams.
  22. Sure, they could bounce back. Part of the problem though is #1 the past few years doesn’t exactly scream well run. Not sure they are a disaster, but it hasn’t exactly been smooth. Also #2 Love has been waiting years and looks to be passable. While that’s good, if it turns out he is decent, but not great…we are going to spend years not having top picks for a QB. Also, I think there is a notable difference between a true Super Bowl contender like we have been…and being a weird fringe team with a non Top 5 QB that still dreams/thinks they can win. The later is much more likely to end in a Super Bowl…almost required. That being said I do think the league is different and the league may not have the insane QBs of Rodgers generation. It just feels, outside of honestly Mahomes, the QB position becomes much less special than it did with Manning/Brady/Rodgers/etc. trotting out there every year.
  23. Honestly, I don’t think they do. And I don’t think people realize if Love isn’t the answer they are going to get this cold harsh reality of Packers and Super Bowl won’t be even slightly muttered for a decade. I am fine moving on, but the future isn’t exactly what everyone has been used to for a quarter century…and I don’t think some really grasp that.
  24. Just because they gave him permission to talk with the Jets doesn’t mean their preference is to move on. At the end of the day whatever Rodgers wants to do is basically what they have to do. If he wants to go to the Jets, strong holding him to stay isn’t going to get us anywhere positive in the short or long term.
  25. We actually don’t really know how he was treated. We handled all three the same. Two of them decided to avoid arbitration completely and the other decided to test his luck…then lost and then pouted. You aren’t really wrong about all three almost surely about to be on their way out though. At least with Adames/Woodruff someone can have a pipe dream it is possible to sign them (not me though).
