  1. Not this year. It's a completely different brewer team compared to the one from a few years ago that the Cardinals owned.
  2. How does everyone know it was pressure and they arent "mentally tough?" How do people know this and just state it factually? In 162 games teams have bad patches and sometimes it happens in big series. Invariably when it does, the armchair qbs seem to know without a doubt that these guys lack toughness or some magic mental ability to want to win. This is a great post. People seem to forget that the Cubs were just as bad with guys on base in this series, I guess they all lack mental toughness too. It was an incredibly close three game series that came down to a few bounces one way or the other. Contreras really came through today with that clutch hit that went about 50 feet to break the scoreless tie. Give me a break.
  3. Well at least he pulled him after one batter. Never should have put him in in the first place, not unless you get to the 14th or something.
  4. He has taken some of the worst swings I've ever seen from a big leaguer tonight. Even Gomez took a pitch once and a while.
  5. It happens though, you don't score eight every day. 1-1 battles are common in baseball, especially in big games. Gotta find a way to win this one
  6. It wasn't supposed to be this way yet! A lot less stress when you're 15 games back. I seriously had to spend the 8th and 9th yesterday pacing around the entire concourse and today's even more of white knuckler
  7. That game score of -18 for Blazek might be the lowest I've ever seen.
  8. There's no foolproof way to go about this right now. Barnes has been bad (also unlucky) in two straight games, now has an ERA at 4.30. Drake has gotten hit hard his last two outings and is having a pretty miserable season, Torres as well. Peralta is a lost cause, Hughes has been really good the last month or so but today he joins the rest of the group and gets shelled. It's not easy when you need about four new bullpen arms.
  9. I don't think any thought the manager was this inept. Counsell's been exposed. Only way to idiot-proof a manager that doesn't have a clue how to juggle a bullpen is to have enough lock down relievers that even bad moves work out (see Ned Yost led Royals teams). Brewers aren't to that point yet. And yet he's probably the best manager they've had with in game decisions in a long time. Revisit the Macha/Roenicke/Yost days of mismanagement.
  10. They are actually in first place though, you've used this logic multiple times but it really makes no sense. It would make sense with say 5 games left or something where the team could realistically win out but there are still 63 games to be played by the Cubs. If we both play to the same exact winning percentage the rest of the season we end up in 1st. No team in baseball is taking the Cubs record over the Brewers if given the choice today. LOL I can't believe there's a debate on this. Winning percentage determines the standings. You are absolutely right. Either way though, it's not really going to matter, the number of games is going to even up by the end of the year unless one of them falls completely out of the race and a late rainout is never made up.
  11. The Cubs... LOSE! Brewers back in first place!
  12. Two bullpen arms have absolute meltdown innings and the brewers still win!
  13. Better now than in august after they've traded the farm.
  14. yeah they were over 10 games back of 2nd WC, got it all the way down to 1.5 games. Phillies went on a crazy run too, they were even further back than the Brewers and nearly got there too.
  15. I mean I could be wrong and maybe biased but it seems the Brewers have collapse a lot more often than average around July and August or at least a lot more than the times they've gone on a late season run. Maybe some who have been around longer than I have can help me out but I can only recall four late season pushes in my time following the team (two of which were utterly meaningless because of how far back they were, one came up just short) 2003: 48-75 on August 17th, then they went on a ten game winning streak and 14-2 stretch to get to 62-77, they then finished the season 6-17 2011: That was a legendary August run to win the division 2012: 48-59 on August 5th, then went on 30-13 run to get to 78-72 2013: Just a strong September push, really did nothing more than hurt the draft position
  16. 2014 was the worst... From my perspective 2007 was worse but I understand those who say 2014. I was born in 1990, started following game by game in 1998. 2007 was the first team that legitimately had a shot in my time of following them and they lead the division almost the whole year. I mean I hadn't even seen a winning season yet at that point! Those last few weeks were the most painful moments of my sports fan life.
  17. Gonna wait till its 8-1 before he's pulled, awesome
  18. Six runs in still nobody out!
  19. Four runs in, bases still loaded nobody out. 6-3 Cardinals. Go Cardinals! (puke)
  20. Cubs having an 8th inning bullpen meltdown
