  1. A) Never draft a Punter before the 7th round B) Don't bring in warm weather Punters to Green Bay
  2. They absolutely knew this at least wasn't the school ESPN thought it was. I mean they played them last year. I don't think they care. IMG is its own unethical little thing anyway. Fascinating story though. Yes, they are definitely to blame as well. But that's what you get when it's not actually high school football and instead minor league/semi pro ball. You can play anyone you want anywhere you want. Doesn't matter if the team played the night before across country.
  3. WIAA used to end the season with 3 games in 10 days if you made the playoffs and advanced to the second round. Don't know when they changed that but that's how it was when I was in high school. Finish season on a Wednesday or Thursday night, 1st round of playoffs next Tuesday, 2nd round of playoffs Saturday afternoon. Wonder when that was changed?
  4. This story gets crazier and crazier. Any team not affiliated with a state is not a high school football team. Call it semi pro, minor league, or whatever else. This includes athletic groups like IMG and sham athletic groups like Bishop Sycamore. It's just crazy, the head coach has an arrest warrant out on him, the players are not high school aged and are not in high school, they played a game two days before this one, most of the players play two ways as they don't have enough players, and based on the two plays I saw, they barely could even line on defense let alone stop anyone. I have no idea how the score was only 58-0. I guess they've never won a game either and even lost by a similar score last year to IMG. Broadcast actual high school games with teams in actual conferences who are eligible for state playoffs and state title games, not sham programs, and national barnstorming team crap.
  5. Are there more line drives right at infielders these days? Sure seems like it. Infield positioning has gotten so, so good. It's really something. Any rocket up the middle is an out. There’s always a guy there. On the flip side, any time you see a guy hit the ball the other way on the ground or a low liner, it's almost always a hit these days.
  6. I have a roommate with some red sox memorbilia on the walls including a newspaper picture from when they finally won a title. A big picture of a Yankees pitcher giving the 1 finger salute would look pretty nice right next to that.
  7. Jesus, what a loser organization. As a small market fan, there is nothing I love seeing more than big market teams blow a ton of money, lose a bunch of games, and play in front of a fanbase where there is mutual dislike.
  8. Yeah, that's fair. If the goal is to make the playoffs, it's been good enough. But under typical circumstances, 10-10 isn't usually going to be good enough. What the Pads are doing is just terrible. And the thing about the wild card is it only seems like an achievement if you actually win the wild card game. It really is a league where only 6 of 30 qualify after the regular season and four more who have earned a coin flip for two spots. Not that it's necessarily a bad thing.
  9. You know I've made the joke in the past that all they do in NY is flip a coin for replay but honestly, that might be what happens.
  10. Your team is completely out of it, you have a 35 year old starting pitcher, career minor leaguer pitching the game of his life, and you pull him after 5 and a third, modern baseball is something else...
  11. The time to trade him and get anything in return may be passing. Damn, just so disappointing.
  12. Ted Davis is in the bank and earning interest
  13. An unstoppable force meets an unmovable object Or a stoppable force meets a moveable object
  14. One down, four to go Time to feast on the Reds blowpen!
  15. Great conversation going on on the broadcast right now about this being how fast baseball used to be played. Baseball has made a lot of nonsense rule changes that don't cut any time off of a game lately, where if they actually enforced the time between pitches rules on the books already, the problem would be solved.
