  1. I wish they would have given him a curtain call after the two scoreless innings.
  2. Showing support for a guy going through a rough time. Classy fan move. The only one's not ready to move on are Twitter warriors. He apologized to the fans and his team, and had one of the most exciting nights of his life ruined by this. Not real sure what other punishment he needs to endure. Agreed
  3. Well we're down a run so Hader, Jeffress, Knebal are all unavailable. Not too many options to make it through the whole game.
  4. Imagine if I told you before the season that Orf would be in the big leagues while Arcia sits in AAA.
  5. Two stoppers in the pen, built for this situation, but since its a 2-1 deficit and not lead in the 5th, can't use 'em.
  6. Don't have a lead so I guess Jeffress is unavailable lol
  7. They're really not, though. Neither the rotation nor lineup is very good at all. I can understand getting MLB talent because we're not that far away but the more I see I just don't think they're there yet. I think they're probably in a much better position for 2019. This is why my season prediction in the season predictions thread before the season was so low. A bad rotation and punch-less lineup usually losses a lot of games. They got off to their hot start on the back of clutch hitting and an unsustainable good bullpen pitching a huge amount of innings (luck), and a surprisingly great defense (which has taken a huge hit with no Arcia, Villar, nor Pina).
  8. Bill Welke behind the plate tonight. He was the home plate umpire for this game https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN200907030.shtml 1-1 game bottom 10th, bases loaded two out 3-2 count and he calls ball four on a pitch middle middle. Should've been fired on the spot but here he is 10 years later, unions are great...
  9. This is a really good lineup given you have a flyball pitcher like Chase on the mound. Great outfield D, dont waste much on infield D.
  10. Great article, agree completely. Noonan articles are usually very good.
  11. If I'm counting right, our minor leagues as a whole gave up 61 runs tonight! And that includes a shutout win by CS and only two runs allowed by Biloxi
  12. I love all the Villar over Perez posts, you guys realize Villar is on the DL right?
  13. It's almost as if managers shouldn't be punting away games using their 8th best reliever for his second inning of work with everyone fresh and only a one run deficit.
  14. Huh?? Yeah he likes to run his mouth. He posted on twitter during one of the previous service holidays hoping for more dead troops, among other things. He's free to have his opinions, but it's hilarious that he's one to criticize poor posts from someone else.
  15. Would your team have seats/bleachers? Who would run your PR department? If they win, people will watch. Whether or not the players are good people means a lot less than people think.
  16. There was a brewer game like this years ago in St Louis. 11-1 lead in the pouring rain bottom 5th. I remember the umpire ringing up McGwire on a pitch about shoulder high to end it.
  17. Sorry, but if someone is going to parse every word from a guy, after just crapping his pants in the biggest game he's ever pitched in when a twitter storm of level 5 is heading right between his eyes, and take issue with the EXACT word he used to apologize is beyond ridiculous... and not worth my time to read any more of his drivel... Travis Sarandos has a far worse twitter history than Josh Hader. The fact that bcb lets him write for them is crazy.
  18. I could not care in the slightest bit what these people do or think, only if they can win games. I would sign Luke Heimlich tomorrow if I ran a team, without a second thought. I'd sign a convicted murderer if he was somehow out of prison and could pitch or hit.
  19. Well this isn't one of the worst franchises in the history of baseball for nothing. Happens every year.
  20. Ahh yes, there are also thousands upon thousands of drunk drivers on opening day as well according to him. That second one might actually be true.
  21. As for Chicago, they had 3.2 million fans attend Cubs games last year, if we say maybe $30 a ticket average that's 96 million spent on tickets alone. Add another $10 a person for concessions (again probably quite a low estimate) and you're over 120 million in revenue alone before a single $90 jersey is sold or a single beer is poured at any nearby bar or restaurant in Wrigleyville. If we add up all revenue from all Chicago teams, you're easily into the billions of dollars range in revenue.
  22. Miller Park seems to have an economic impact https://www.biztimes.com/2013/industries/arts-entertainment-sports/study-validates-economic-impact-of-miller-park/ I know this is an old article and many here have probably read it already, but has it been disproved?
