  1. I believe there is an economic impact, but it's impossible to prove the amount. So I don't bother using that as an argument. It's just something I want. I don't care about art museums, libraries, or parks but acknowledge Milwaukee is a better place having them. Yes, Owners should pay for stadiums. But, like with the Bucks arena there is competition for these teams, so these days it's usually a combination. But a referendum? Yea, there would be no Miller Park or Milwaukee Brewers if there had been a referendum. Agreed, I feel like one of the biggest overlooked factors is the massive negative economic impact from losing a team. Not just the positive impact of the new stadium.
  2. Enjoy watching your teams leave town then, while hurting numerous local businesses and putting many people out of work.
  3. My worst year in going to games was 2002. I went to 7 games at Miller Park, the Brewers had a lead for half an inning total (and not the bottom of the 9th).
  4. I feel like because the rule is 5 years no matter what you see too many DSL guys promoted too quickly through the system and this leads to our lower minors (Helena, Wisconsin) littered with too many guys from the island who can't hit and random relief pitchers. Also, off the top of my head, I can't really think of many if any success stories of guys we've signed and devoloped into major leaguers from the DSL since re-opening the academy. Arcia is the only one I can think of and he seems to fit the profile of guy from the island who can't hit.
  5. The Cubs... LOSE!!!
  6. If Vegas gets a baseball team also that city jumps straight into my "top 3 places to retire" list... Wake up, golf, gamble, golf, baseball, gamble, people watch, sleep. Repeat. It is a great city, my month of June this year was Wake up, work out, hit the pool, head over to a sportsbook to watch the Brewers, play poker all night (with a couple party nights here and there, Freemont St is amazing) Repeat. If there was a team there, that would be awesome to visit when the Brewers play a series.
  7. There is no chance I would IBB a guy with an OPS of like .400. If he gets a ball through, he gets a ball through, good for him.
  8. I've got a bridge to sell you if you think the NFL is "rapidly dying".
  9. Sorry I just saw they announced the final vote, I thought you were talking about the regular fan voting for starters.
  10. No he isn’t. Brewer fans don’t vote like they used to back in 2011 or so when we actually voted guys in. Cain was one of the best players in baseball befor ehis long injury stint and was nowhere near a spot. We used to have all our players (even terrible players) in the vote rankings. He is far from a lock. I’d actually say he would get nowhere near winning it in all likelihood. Aguilar is a write in. If you think any group of fans is gonna get a write in voted in, you're nuts.
  11. If you guys thought Boone Logan was a great Lefty one out guy who can't get lefties out, this could be an even better fit for that role in our bullpen! (The new LOOGYWCGLO)
  12. With all the complaints of inconsistant offense you see on the major league forum, you'd think more people would want to see guys like Wren and Orf get a shot. Its not like this is a good offensive team currently. They win because pitching and defense carries them.
  13. This is more what Im referring to. Not a bad idea to have a mix of contact hitters and high power high k guys at the major league level.
  14. So we just need to score one run off Wily Peralta? It sounds too easy...
  15. Perfect opportunity to call him up now, instead we call up a guy who can't hit at CS.
  16. Magic number down to 84 after another Cubs loss! Two games up in the loss column!
  17. So throw those 2017 numbers out? Forget them. Me? I can't do that. When anyone gets on base about 40% of the time in a full Major League Baseball, I sit up and take notice. When one has more walks than K's in it, I am even more impressed. That is what Sogard did last season, and that is why he still is on this roster, IMO. No one in our middle IF group of outcasts has anything close to those kind of numbers for a season. The fact that they happened just last year makes me want to give Sogard more opportunities, kinda like CC giving 5 months to Villar in 2017. I agree completely, after what Sogard was able to do last season, I am fine with giving him more than 100 PAs this year to right the ship.
  18. Can't let this fall to page two! Back in first all alone! Magic number down to 89!
  19. It also hurts when your LOOGY is one of the worst pitchers in baseball at getting lefties out. At least Drake could get lefties out sometimes and could be a little useful if used correctly.
  20. The Cubs... LOSE!!! Magic number down to 95!
  21. It's both talent and management, obviously. And you honestly think they go with short starts just for the sake of short starts? Come on now. There is always a start here or there where I would have stuck with the starter another batter or two, and in general I don't like seeing Logan at all right now, but with these results you're STILL not buying into how the pitching staff is managed? Really?! There is ridiculous amounts of data and analytics that go into these philosophies. Brought to you by the guys who have pretty much pushed all the right buttons since the rebuild began. I guarantee you that they have a long-term plan, for this season and beyond. They are not just doing this day by day until the middle of August when the pen falls apart and they say, "Oh crap, now what?" Would you be happier if we were 30-28 and we were losing a lot of 4-3 and 5-4 games when our starter gives up 2-3 runs in the 6th or 7th when they run out of gas? A few points here to add here This is not a 5 man rotation, we have been running with a 4 and swing all season long, meaning only using 5th starters when we have to. A guy like Chacin has made every start so far, sure there's worry about the bullpen running out of gas, but I think I would be more worried about the rotation being out of gas by the end of the year if we were doing this while letting starters throw 7 innings every start. Also, to this point, Craig has done an excellent job of managing the bullpen, they are not overworked. Rarely have I seen a reliever go more than two days in a row and guys who go multiple innings almost always get at least the next day off. Our best pitchers are in the bullpen, why wouldn't you want them pitching the most important innings instead of a tiring starter? Seven of the Eight pitchers in the pen right now are outstanding and I would trust to pitch in almost any situation.
  22. Any story on Charlie Meyer? As far as I can tell a catcher from Stout who got a few AB's last year in Carolina, today gets an AB in CS? Seems a little odd.
