  1. Why so low?? Rotation has a chance to be downright awful, especially if an injury or two hits. Probably regression from a few of the heavily used relievers from last year. (Knebal, Albers, Hader) I'm buying low this year.
  2. 018 Brewers Season Predictions Win-Loss Record: 68-94 Playoffs (Yes, No): No Highest Playoff Level Achieved: None All Star Game Representative(s): Braun Offensive Player of the Year: Braun Pitcher of the Year: Taylor Williams Most Surprising Player: Kyle Wren Most Disappointing Player: Orlando Arcia
  3. Let me know when Perez can post an OBP near .400 over a 300 PA season.
  4. Before the season, he didn't even pitch in 2017.
  5. 1. Corbin Burnes - Coming off an outstanding 2017, this is the top pitching prospect in the system and my #1 overall. 2. Brett Phillips - Surfaced in Milwaukee last season and had a good September. Good all around outfielder. 3. Brandon Woodruff - I really hope he makes the team out of camp over Gallardo/Miley/Guerra. 4. Freddy Peralta - Rising fast, he could be in Milwaukee soon. 5. Keston Hiura - Man can he hit, if he can play in the field he'll be number 1 soon. 6. Lucas Erceg - Disappointing last year in Carolina, I think he'll have a big rebound year. 7. Jacob Gatewood - Finally starting to live up to the potential 8. Trent Grisham - still very young, great eye at the plate, he'll be on a major league roster somewhere next year 9. Kyle Wren - probably blocked here, he needs to get a shot with someone 10. Mauricio Dubon - Could see him soon, if Villar isn't the answer at 2nd base 11. Luis Ortiz 12. Taylor Williams 13. Jon Perrin 14. Cody Ponce 15. Tristen Lutz 16. Aaron Wilkerson 17. Troy Stokes 18. Trey Supak 19. Ernesto Martinez 20. Josh Pennington 21. Johnny Davis 22. Nate Orf 23. Angel Ventura 24. Jorge Ortega 68. Blake Fox 69. Freises Adames
  6. These are reasonable thoughts. For McCarthy, I actually think anything short of a Super Bowl appearance will get him fired. That's why I think we have the new power structure with MM answering to Murphy. The new GM will get three years or so. For the Bucks, that's probably an accurate assessment, given that this is an interim coach. He maybe stays with a trip to conference finals, but as an interim coach, there is not much job security going forward. For the Brewers, I agree completely. This is a reasonable thread, given that we have now transitioned from rebuilding to competing for a title.
  7. I don't think there is any chance Guerra is in the rotation to start the season.
  8. This is my feeling exactly, I'm greatly in favor of a deal centering around Brinson, but the asking price here could be huge.
  9. Oh you mean like two years ago when the Brewers sold just about everyone to rebuild? And I'll pass on feeling sorry for teams that have WS trophies, especially the Marlins who have two in my lifetime. There are really only a few teams the Brewers either have a better full history than, or better recent history than (last 20 years or so). I don't feel sorry for any team.
  10. Ever since a friend brought Brownsville Brats to a tailgate, the rest have always been kind of bland and boring to me. Klements is probably my least favorite.
  11. Hope he enjoys doing games with 5,000 fans scattered among the seats. Miami isn't a destination job. It's a stepping stone for future. Ask Len Kasper. If it pays more and helps his career, best of luck to him. I've certainly enjoyed listening to him call games.
  12. I mean, its definitely an upward career move. Second radio guy in Milwaukee means calling 3 innings a game at home and some road games. I'd imagine its a pay raise to move to television as well.
  13. They're replacement level players at the back end of the 40 man roster and neither will likely ever be more than that.
  14. Matt Garza had a WAR of -0.8 in Milwaukee, He had a good first season and not much there after. Riske was a much worse signing. Its just that he never really played his last 2 years here and its not as recent. But its not close. I'd argue Soup was a worse FA signing over Garza. This is why I didn't want the brewers to sign Arietta, because he would end up in the Soup / Lohse / Garza category. Chacin, no matter what he does here will not. Fangraphs has Garza as a +5.5 WAR over his four seasons here. Not sure what the difference is in how it's calculated. I feel like people throw WAR out there as an end all stat, but often times there is a big difference between fWAR and bWAR. I usually favor fWAR. Garza was actually pretty good in 2014 and not bad in 2016.
  15. Only time Ive ever met him was at wrigley this year, and by met him I mean saw him walking by and he kept walking, didnt look too happy, i think we were down like 13-1 at that point.
  16. I wish I didn't forget to vote this time, I single handedly took Kyle Wren off the others receiving votes category.
  17. Why on earth would you try to sign Hernan Perez to a 6 year contract?
  18. Looks like a complete bust. Number 5 overall pick, college player and we're over a season in and he can't hit in A ball.
  19. I couldn't believe it, when I first saw the headline earlier today about an update I feared the worst. This is spectacular news.
  20. Alex Sanchez, dude could fly, but not very smart Seth McClung, don't remember all the details or what went on in the clubhouse but Macha refused to use him. Taylor Green, don't remember if it was an injury or not that derailed his career.
  21. Agreed on all points. No future is guaranteed, things look bright but prospects are prospects, you don't know. They came up one game short, for a franchise with so few postseason appearances and so little success, any season that comes this close is a killer. I can definitely use six months off from baseball...
  22. One pennant since the 40's, one WS since 1908 in one of baseball's biggest markets with one of the largest fanbases. It must be like being a Yankees fan but without all the success.
  23. "And below average on defense. So yippee we payed an average player $20mil." And last year he had an excellent season, worth more than the 20mil he was paid.
