  1. I'll admit, reading through some of these does make me feel a bit better about the last two nights. I mean one run leads get blown, especially without top closers. This year, especially the second half, has been a year of a lot of holding onto small leads late in games. I guess the five worst for me that stick out this year: 1. Torres blowing that 3 run lead in the 9th to the Dodgers 2. Yesterday's game 3. The Kershaw game, blowing 1-0 lead in the 9th 4. Blowing a 4-0 and 8-4 lead to the Braves and Bartolo early in season 5. Maybe that game against the Giants early on, coming back from down 2 or 3 in the 9th, blowing a huge opportunity to win it, then giving up a million runs in the top of the 10th
  2. I remember in 2008, at the end of the year all I could think about was that loss to the D-backs, if they came up one game short. If I can nominate a series, how about the three gamer in Philly, late July 2012. The Brewers lead in the bottom of the 9th in all three games and K-Rod blew all three saves. Later in that year, the Brewers made a massive run and got as close as 1.5 back of the Cardinals for 2nd WC. That series sure could have helped.
  3. Real classy look for Cravy. They should DFA him for that, just like the Cubs did with Montero. I absolutely agree. As if he had done anything in his career to justify being in the big leagues right now over anyone on the roster.
  4. If Pina can get on in front of him, Broxton could hit another two run homer in the 10th with the Brewers trailing 5-3.
  5. Was Thames going to make JJ run faster to 1B for the cover? No. He would have stayed home because the 1B had no business going after a ball that was just to the left of the second baseman. Thames literally made a diving play earlier in the game that would have been right at 2nd for an easy out.
  6. He's definitely out, but replay is a complete coinflip
  7. You mean like the last two days? I mean like all the way back to when we dropped out of first. The Cubs go into a funk and instead of gaining ground we get swept by the freaking Reds. Up until the last 10 days or so the Cubs have given us every opportunity to take an extra game here or there but we fall flat on our face. We don't get beaten by a better team, we choke away chances until we lose. How many were left on base tonight? 8 maybe? Just embarrassing how bad this offense is when they need to be. I wish my team won every game.
  8. Not this year. He's been really poor in clutch situations this season. I'd still want Braun up. Single year "late/close" and clutch stats are such small samples that they're not a reliable measure of any kind of ability. They tell you what has happened, but they're not a predictor of any sort. Case in point, Eric Thames' game tying hit today.
  9. ONE GAME BACK OF WC!!
  10. Proof that a bad arm behind the plate doesn't lose games. Especially in today's game, teams don't run like they used to.
  11. Yeah some people wanted to overlook his great numbers and the amount of games he held as a setup man, and just say "look he's 5/10 in save chances this year!" The rest of us looked at his great numbers and thought this guy would make an excellent closer. Really, he's been far better than any of us could have imagined and may be having the best season a Brewer closer has ever had.
  12. The Reds are laying down for them and they still can't win. Cut the baseball program!
  13. After getting swept by the Cubs, now losing to the Reds. Fire everybody, move the team to Oklahoma City.
