  1. If we were actually able to get Abreu I would fall out of my chair. I don't care if he's off to a bad start, New York does things to people. It would basically be like reinserting Carlos Lee into the lineup with better defense.
  2. ? In Atlanta, multitalented rookie catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia has started taking ground balls at first base as the Braves try to figure out his future with the trading deadline approaching. "We have our franchise catcher [brian McCann]," GM John Schuerholz said. "So who knows what will happen? We could find another place for Salty to play. Or somebody else could want him and make us an offer where we say to ourselves, 'This is a deal that makes sense for us and for him and for everybody.'" This is from Jayson Stark's most recent rumblings and grumblings. I know that Saltalamcchia has been a favorite on brewerfan for quite a while, and I'm curious to hear what people think it would take to get him. He would definitely be a nice addition to the team, although I don't really see the Brewers pursuing him at this time.
  3. The chemistry safety movie. The greatest in horrible graphics and acting make for the most entertaining movie about avoiding serious injury ever made. If I could ever find one, I'd gladly add it to my collection. This comment pretty much made my day! I thought it was just me and my friends that found this movie incredibly entertaining. My list of movies Equilibrium (not actually bad, just no one's heard of it) Snakes on a Plane Tron
  4. The fact that Estrada doesn't walk is the reason I wouldn't want him in the eighth spot. You want the #8 hitter to clear the pitcher's spot. With Estrada hitting eighth we'd see the pitcher leading off the inning a ton.
  5. Go Ryan Braun! I like: Weeks Hardy Fielder Hall Jenkins Estrada Braun Hart/Gross Bush That would be amazing to me. Solid 1-8, and Bush doesn't even hit that bad either.
  6. Also, I think that Charlie may have been trying to prevent Desmond from getting himself killed by trying to talk to Penelope when it could have been dangerous to him.
  7. I too would like to thank you Brian for the way you run this site. I have a sister with Down Syndrome, and I often cringe at the way that word is thrown around. I hate how mainstream the word has become, and I definitely appreciate it not being used on this site.
  8. What are the chances Parra gets a chance in the big leagues yet this year? I'd love to see him and Yo on a potential playoff roster in the place of Spurling and Dessens.
  9. Besides the Brewers and Badgers, I'm a pretty fair weather Wisconsin sports fan and so I basically had no interest in the Bucks this year. That said, I'm looking forward to the lottery this week, because I think that if the Bucks land one of the top two picks they're a sure-fire playoff team next year. They probably would have made the playoffs if they didn't have any injuries this year. So how would you rank the top two? I'd say: 1) Oden 2) Durant I'm sure many disagree with me. I wouldn't let Bogut stop me from taking Oden either; take the best possible players and things will work out in the end.
  10. If Cirillo gets booed I'm joining the Hipster and telling Milwaukee to show some class. Cirillo holds some of my fondest memories, and he's been nothing but amazing to Milwaukee and its fans.
  11. What are the Brewers chances of retaining Haydel, Bryson, and Robinson? It's very exciting to have three highly rated DFE's. Do any of these guys compare to Parra (in status), or was he higher rated then them?
  12. Count me in the take Wieters and pay the man group. I love catchers that can hit, and I think he's going to be a good one.
  13. Is Hart's wrist still bothering him?
  14. Wow, Gross leading off? Didn't see that coming. At least Ned didn't get tempted to put the "gritty" Counsell up there. I really like having both Gross and Jenkins in there against a righty.
  15. I'm surprised that Carlos is pitching another inning, but so far so good.
  16. This convinces me: Rickie is officially a top-tier second baseman.
  17. so I've asked this question about a thousand times, but i can never remember...when is the magic date when we'll retain braun for an extra year if we bring him up after then?
  18. I predict Rickie and Prince break out of their slumps tonight. I thinnk Rickie will build on yesterdays couple of hits and get a couple of extra base hits and I think Prince will crack a homer.
  19. Kim would have excited me two years ago, now not so much. I know this has been suggested elsewhere, but what do you guys think it would take to convince Houston that Lidge needs a "change of scenery." I know that the chances of a Lidge trade are about .1% since he is within the division and still ultra-talented, but I'm just curious to hear what the perceived value for him is right now.
  20. I wonder if the Nationals would go for a "Sexson" type deal and take quantity over quality for Cordero. Clearly, the Nationals are in the same situation as the Brewers were a few years ago that they need a bunch of people that don't cost much. I might venture a guess that a deal of Gwynn, Capellan, Jackson, Gross, and a Manny Parra type would be more than enough to get Cordero. This deal would destroy the Brewers depth, but if they want to do that kind of deal it could be done without getting rid of any of our significant contributers.
  21. Does anyone know if whatever Charter Communications thing they run in La Crosse is showing the Brewers game? Or will I be forced to watch 2 of the 3 most pathetic teams in basketball try to let the other team win?
  22. I would most definitely not trade both Inman and Gallardo for Cordero. First off, we really don't need a closer all that much. Secondly, starting pitching is way more valuable than relief pitching (they'll pitch 3 times as many innings in a year), and thirdly those two guy's potential (especially Gallardo) could exceed Cordero's abilities. Now, an Inman + a bunch of second tier prospects I could get on board with, but not the two of the. I would even be hesitant to put Gallardo in a trade even without Inman.
  23. So I'm going to sound like a terrible Wisconsinite, but I haven't been to Summerfest in years and I was wondering if someone could give me some info on how it works. If there is a specific concert at Summerfest that I want to go to do you buy the tickets in advance? If so, about how early do you have to get them and about how much do they run? Thanks for any info you can give!
