  1. Thames is having a statistically worse season than Carter last season. I would look to dump him in the offseason and look to upgrade at the position or maybe consider Aguilar there.
  2. At some point, you just have to say that the offense isn't going to get markedly better with this collection of players. I think better personnel is needed going forward to win divisions and championships. I think we are who we are for the remainder of the season.
  3. Why, why, why did Garza get another start this season??? So sickening.
  4. With the offense as inconsistent as it is, I think Aguilar should get more time at first base. He's been a pretty big force when he's in there.
  5. Very active day so far today. My hunch is we make a move before the end of the day, hopefully to acquire more bullpen help.
  6. With the Cards promoting Jack Flaherty to their rotation, I would love to see them do the same with Corbin Burnes. What do we have to lose? He can't be any worse than Garza, can he?
  7. Is Garza really going to make his scheduled start on Sunday? I was really hoping his start Tuesday night would be his last one in a Brewer uniform. Someone please console me.
  8. I will say no, he doesn't make it. I'm betting the Cardinals take him before us. If he does make, then yes, we take him. He's having a better season than everyone in our bullpen other than Knebel and perhaps Hader. I think we should know the landing spot for Nicasio sometime today. Waivers run for two days, and Nicasio was placed there on Tuesday I believe.
  9. The other question is, does Juan Nicasio make it down to us as a waiver claim, and if so, do we claim him?
  10. Who will be the winner of the Nicasio waiver claim? I would think he would be picked up by a contending team.
  11. Very maddening following this team right now. I just don't feel like Thames should be considered an every day player anymore, just strikes out too much.
  12. As a team we are batting .234 with RISP, good for 26th in MLB. If you want a telling stat, start there.
  13. On the respirator now, I think if we get to 4 1/2 back you can pretty much stick a fork in us.
  14. Any chance tonight will be Garza's last start in a Brewer uniform?
  15. I would be fine with Anderson, Nelson, or Davies starting a one-game playoff. Pretty good makings of a solid rotation next year. Sprinkle in Hader and Woodruff/Burnes and I think you really have something.
  16. I think its becoming apparent Josh Hader will be a integral part of any push towards the playoffs. A great recipe for success moving forward is having a lead after six innings and closing it out with Hader/Swarzak/Knebel.
  17. To put things into context, Chris Sale was in the big leagues the same year he was drafted. Not comparing Burnes to Sale, but its not unheard of to make that quick of a jump to the big leagues.
  18. The way I see it, we weren't expected to contend this year and are playing with house money at this point. I'd throw a crazy high upside rotation out there come September 1 and see what happens. I'd go Nelson, Anderson, Davies, Burnes, and Woodruff, and send Garza to the bullpen for long relief. If it doesn't pan out, so what? Burnes gets a taste of the big leagues for next year, and we may have a preview of what our rotation could look like next year. I'd personally rather see Burnes skip Colorado Springs, seeing as what that place has done to some of our other pitching prospects. I'm starting to warm up to the idea of having Hader be an ultra weapon coming out of the bullpen a la Andrew Miller.
  19. I hope not, that means we probably got creamed. Can't afford to give away games. I certainly would not have a long leash on him today with the off day tomorrow and the Dodgers looming.
  20. Hopefully Garza's last start as a Brewer today!
  21. Any chance at all Corbin Burnes gets brought up to start when rosters expand?
  22. Matt Garza is batting practice, period.
  23. I really hope we saw Garza's last start in a Brewer uniform last night.
  24. For my money, Votto is the most complete offensive player in baseball right now, followed closely by Goldschmidt and Judge.
  25. I think that is a pretty fair assessment of where things will be following the road trip. It would be great to see us go 5-4 and get two over Colorado and claw back into the wild card race. The Dbacks have been coming back down to earth lately as well.
